A Psalm of David.Hear my prayer, O Jehovah; give ear to my supplications:In thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.
And enter not into judgment with thy servant; For in thy sight no man living is righteous.
A Psalm of David.Hear my prayer, O Jehovah; give ear to my supplications:In thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.
And enter not into judgment with thy servant; For in thy sight no man living is righteous.
For the enemy hath persecuted my soul;He hath smitten my life down to the ground:He hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead.
Therefore {Or, my spirit fainteth}is my spirit overwhelmed within me;My heart within me is desolate.
I remember the days of old;I meditate on all thy doings;I muse on the work of thy hands.
I spread forth my hands unto thee:My soul thirsteth after thee, as a weary land. [Selah
Make haste to answer me, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth:Hide not thy face from me,Lest I become like them that go down into the pit.
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; For in thee do I trust:Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; For I lift up my soul unto thee.
Deliver me, O Jehovah, from mine enemies: {Hebrew: Unto thee have I hidden.}I flee unto thee to hide me.
Teach me to do thy will; For thou art my God: {Or, Let thy good Spirit lead me}Thy Spirit is good;Lead me in {Or, a plain country}the land of uprightness.
Quicken me, O Jehovah, for thy name's sake:In thy righteousness bring my soul out of trouble.
And in thy lovingkindness cut off mine enemies,And destroy all them that afflict my soul; For I am thy servant.
For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments, set to the {Or, the eighth}Sheminith. A Psalm of David.O Jehovah, rebuke me not in thine anger,Neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah; for I am withered away:O Jehovah, heal me; for my bones are troubled.
My soul also is sore troubled:And thou, O Jehovah, how long?
Return, O Jehovah, deliver my soul:Save me for thy lovingkindness' sake.
For in death there is no remembrance of thee:In Sheol who shall give thee thanks?
I am weary with my groaning;Every night make I my bed to swim;I water my couch with my tears.
Mine eye wasteth away because of grief; It waxeth old because of all mine adversaries.
Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; For Jehovah hath heard the voice of my weeping.
Jehovah hath heard my supplication;Jehovah will receive my prayer.
All mine enemies shall be put to shame and sore troubled:They shall turn back, they shall be put to shame suddenly.
A Psalm of David. Maschil.Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,Whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man unto whom Jehovah imputeth not iniquity,And in whose spirit there is no guile.
When I kept silence, my bones wasted awayThrough my {Hebrew: roaring.}groaning all the day long.
For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me:My moisture was changed {Or, into the}as with the drought of summer. [Selah
I acknowledged my sin unto thee,And mine iniquity did I not hide:I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Jehovah; And thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. [Selah
For this let every one that is godly pray unto thee {Or, in the time of finding out sin}in a time when thou mayest be found:Surely when the great waters overflow they shall not reach unto him.
Thou art my hiding-place; thou wilt preserve me from trouble;Thou wilt compass me about with songs of deliverance. [Selah
I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:I will counsel thee with mine eye upon thee.
Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding;Whose trappings must be bit and bridle to hold them in, {Or, That they come not near}Else they will not come near unto thee.
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he that trusteth in Jehovah, lovingkindness shall compass him about.
Be glad in Jehovah, and rejoice, ye righteous; And shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
A Psalm of David, {Or, to make memorial}to bring to remembrance.O Jehovah, rebuke me not in thy wrath;Neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
For thine arrows {Hebrew: lighted on me.}stick fast in me,And thy hand {}presseth me sore.
There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine indignation;Neither is there any {Or, rest}health in my bones because of my sin.
For mine iniquities are gone over my head:As a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
My wounds are loathsome and corrupt,Because of my foolishness.
I am {Hebrew: bent.}pained and bowed down greatly;I go mourning all the day long.
For my loins are filled with burning; And there is no soundness in my flesh.
I am faint and sore bruised:I have {Hebrew: roared.}groaned by reason of the disquietness of my heart.
Lord, all my desire is before thee; And my groaning is not hid from thee.
My heart throbbeth, my strength faileth me:As for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.
My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague; And my kinsmen stand afar off.
They also that seek after my life lay snares for me;And they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things,And meditate deceits all the day long.
But I, as a deaf man, hear not;And I am as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
Yea, I am as a man that heareth not,And in whose mouth are no {Or, arguments}reproofs.
For in thee, O Jehovah, do I hope:Thou wilt answer, O Lord my God.
For I said, Lest they rejoice over me:When my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.
For I am ready to fall,And my sorrow is continually before me.
For I will declare mine iniquity;I will be sorry for my sin.
But mine enemies are lively, and are strong; And they that hate me {Hebrew: falsely.}wrongfully are multiplied.
They also that render evil for goodAre adversaries unto me, because I follow the thing that is good.
Forsake me not, O Jehovah:O my God, be not far from me.
Make haste to help me,O Lord, my salvation.
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David; when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba.Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness:According to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity,And cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my transgressions; And my sin is ever before me.
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned,And done that which is evil in thy sight; That thou mayest be justified when thou speakest,And be clear when thou judgest.
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me.
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts; And in the hidden part thou wilt make me to know wisdom.
Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean:Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me to hear joy and gladness,That the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
Hide thy face from my sins,And blot out all mine iniquities.
Create {Or, for me}in me a clean heart, O God;And renew a {Or, stedfast}right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy Spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with a willing spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; And sinners shall {Or, return}be converted unto thee.
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation; And my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
O Lord, open thou my lips; And my mouth shall show forth thy praise.
For thou delightest not in sacrifice; {Or, that I should give it}else would I give it:Thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion:Build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
Then wilt thou delight in the sacrifices of righteousness,In burnt-offering and whole burnt-offering:Then will they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
A Prayer of the afflicted, when he {Or, fainteth}is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before Jehovah.Hear my prayer, O Jehovah,And let my cry come unto thee.
Hide not thy face from me in the day of my distress:Incline thine ear unto me;In the day when I call answer me speedily.
For my days consume away {Or, in smoke}like smoke,And my bones are burned {Or, as a hearth}as a firebrand.
My heart is smitten like grass, and withered; For I forget to eat my bread.
By reason of the voice of my groaningMy bones cleave to my flesh.
I am like a pelican of the wilderness;I am become as an owl of the waste places.
I watch, and am become like a sparrowThat is alone upon the house-top.
Mine enemies reproach me all the day; They that are mad against me do curse by me.
For I have eaten ashes like bread,And mingled my drink with weeping,
Because of thine indignation and thy wrath:For thou hast taken me up, and cast me away.
My days are like a shadow that {Or, is stretched out}declineth; And I am withered like grass.
But thou, O Jehovah, {Or, sittest as King}wilt abide for ever; And thy memorial name unto all generations.
Thou wilt arise, and have mercy upon Zion; For it is time to have pity upon her,Yea, the set time is come.
For thy servants take pleasure in her stones,And have pity upon her dust.
So the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah,And all the kings of the earth thy glory.
For Jehovah hath built up Zion;He hath appeared in his glory.
He hath regarded the prayer of the destitute,And hath not despised their prayer.
This shall be written for the generation to come; And a people which shall be created shall praise {Hebrew: Jah.}Jehovah.
For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary;From heaven did Jehovah behold the earth;
To hear the sighing of the prisoner;To loose {Hebrew: the children of death.}those that are appointed to death;
That men may declare the name of Jehovah in Zion,And his praise in Jerusalem;
When the peoples are gathered together,And the kingdoms, to serve Jehovah.
He {Another reading is, afflicted me with his strength.}weakened my strength in the way;He shortened my days.
I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days:Thy years are throughout all generations.
Of old didst thou lay the foundation of the earth; And the heavens are the work of thy hands.
They shall perish, but thou shalt endure;Yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; As a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
But thou art the same,And thy years shall have no end.
The children of thy servants shall continue,And their seed shall be established before thee.
A Song of Ascents.Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Jehovah.
Lord, hear my voice:Let thine ears be attentiveTo the voice of my supplications.
If thou, {Hebrew: Jah.}Jehovah, shouldest mark iniquities,O Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with thee,That thou mayest be feared.
I wait for Jehovah, my soul doth wait,And in his word do I hope.
My soul waiteth for the LordMore than watchmen wait for the morning;Yea, more than watchmen for the morning.
O Israel, hope in Jehovah; For with Jehovah there is lovingkindness,And with him is plenteous redemption.
And he will redeem IsraelFrom all his iniquities.
A Psalm of David.Hear my prayer, O Jehovah; give ear to my supplications:In thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.

Quicken me, O Jehovah, for thy name's sake:In thy righteousness bring my soul out of trouble.
And in thy lovingkindness cut off mine enemies,And destroy all them that afflict my soul; For I am thy servant.
And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith Jehovah, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
A Psalm of David.Jehovah, I have called upon thee; make haste unto me:Give ear unto my voice, when I call unto thee.
Let my prayer be set forth as incense before thee; The lifting up of my hands as the evening {Or, oblation}sacrifice.
Set a watch, O Jehovah, before my mouth;Keep the door of my lips.
Incline not my heart to any evil thing,To practise deeds of wickednessWith men that work iniquity:And let me not eat of their dainties.
Let the righteous smite me, it shall be a kindness; And let him reprove me, it shall be as oil upon the head;Let not my head refuse it:For {Or, still is my prayer against their wickedness}even in their {Or, calamities}wickedness shall my prayer continue.
Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock; And they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.
As when one ploweth and cleaveth the earth,Our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol.
For mine eyes are unto thee, O Jehovah the Lord:In thee do I take refuge; {Or, pour thou not out my life}leave not my soul destitute.
Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me,And from the gins of the workers of iniquity.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets,Whilst that I withal {Hebrew: pass over.}escape.
Maschil of David, when he was in the cave; a Prayer.I cry with my voice unto Jehovah; With my voice unto Jehovah do I make supplication.
I pour out my complaint before him;I show before him my trouble.
When my spirit {Or, fainted}was overwhelmed within me,Thou knewest my path.In the way wherein I walkHave they hidden a snare for me.
Look on my right hand, and see;For there is no man that knoweth me:Refuge hath failed me;No man careth for my soul.
I cried unto thee, O Jehovah;I said, Thou art my refuge,My portion in the land of the living.
Attend unto my cry;For I am brought very low:Deliver me from my persecutors; For they are stronger than I.
Bring my soul out of prison,That I may give thanks unto thy name:The righteous shall {Or, crown themselves because of me}compass me about; For thou wilt deal bountifully with me.
I pour out my complaint before him;I show before him my trouble.
A Psalm of David.Hear my prayer, O Jehovah; give ear to my supplications:In thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.

And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up unto the house of Jehovah, and spread it before Jehovah.
And Hezekiah prayed unto Jehovah, saying,
O Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, that {Or, art enthroned}sittest above the cherubim, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.
Incline thine ear, O Jehovah, and hear; open thine eyes, O Jehovah, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, who hath sent to defy the living God.
Of a truth, Jehovah, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the countries, and their land,
and have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them.
Now therefore, O Jehovah our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art Jehovah, even thou only.

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.Deliver me, O Jehovah, from the evil man;Preserve me from the violent man:
Who devise mischiefs in their heart;Continually do they {Or, stir up wars}gather themselves together for war.
They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent;Adders' poison is under their lips.[Selah
Keep me, O Jehovah, from the hands of the wicked;Preserve me from the violent man:Who have purposed to thrust aside my steps.
The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; They have spread a net by the wayside; They have set gins for me. [Selah
I said unto Jehovah, Thou art my God:Give ear unto the voice of my supplications, O Jehovah.
O Jehovah the Lord, the strength of my salvation,Thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
Grant not, O Jehovah, the desires of the wicked;Further not his evil device, lest they exalt themselves. [Selah
As for the head of those that compass me about,Let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
Let burning coals fall upon them:Let them be cast into the fire,Into {Or, floods}deep pits, whence they shall not rise.
{Hebrew: A man to tongue.}An evil speaker shall not be established in the earth:Evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
I know that Jehovah will maintain the cause of the afflicted,And justice for the needy.

A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.Jehovah, how are mine adversaries increased! Many are they that rise up against me.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Even so ye also, when ye shall have done all the things that are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable {Greek: bondservants.}servants; we have done that which it was our duty to do.
I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
