A Psalm of David.Unto thee, O Jehovah, will I call:My rock, be not thou deaf unto me;Lest, if thou be silent unto me,I become like them that go down into the pit.
Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee,When I lift up my hands {Or, toward the innermost place of thy sanctuary}toward thy holy oracle.
Draw me not away with the wicked,And with the workers of iniquity;That speak peace with their neighbors,But mischief is in their hearts.
Give them according to their work, and according to the wickedness of their doings:Give them after the operation of their hands;Render to them their desert.
Because they regard not the works of Jehovah,Nor the operation of his hands,He will break them down and not build them up.
Blessed be Jehovah,Because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
Jehovah is my strength and my shield;My heart hath trusted in him, and I am helped:Therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth;And with my song will I praise him.
Jehovah is their strength,And he is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed.
Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance:Be their shepherd also, and bear them up for ever.

Jehovah is their strength,And he is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed.
Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance:Be their shepherd also, and bear them up for ever.
A Psalm of David.Unto thee, O Jehovah, do I lift up my soul.
O my God, in thee have I trusted,Let me not be put to shame;Let not mine enemies triumph over me.
Yea, none that wait for thee shall be put to shame:They shall be put to shame that deal treacherously without cause.
Show me thy ways, O Jehovah;Teach me thy paths.
Guide me in thy truth, and teach me;For thou art the God of my salvation;For thee do I wait all the day.
Remember, O Jehovah, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindness;For they have been ever of old.
Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions:According to thy lovingkindness remember thou me,For thy goodness' sake, O Jehovah.
Good and upright is Jehovah:Therefore will he instruct sinners in the way.
The meek will he guide in justice;And the meek will he teach his way.
All the paths of Jehovah are lovingkindness and truthUnto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
For thy name's sake, O Jehovah,Pardon mine iniquity, for it is great.
What man is he that feareth Jehovah?Him shall he instruct in the way that he shall choose.
His soul shall dwell at ease;And his seed shall inherit the land.
The {Or, counsel Or, secret}friendship of Jehovah is with them that fear him; {Or, And his covenat, to make them know it}And he will show them his covenant.
Mine eyes are ever toward Jehovah;For he will pluck my feet out of the net.
Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me;For I am desolate and afflicted.
The troubles of my heart are {Or, as otherwise read, relieve thou, And bring me &c.}enlarged:Oh bring thou me out of my distresses.
Consider mine affliction and my travail;And forgive all my sins.
Consider mine enemies, for they are many;And they hate me with cruel hatred.
Oh keep my soul, and deliver me:Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in thee.
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me,For I wait for thee.
Redeem Israel, O God,Out of all of his troubles.
A Psalm of David.Judge me, O Jehovah, for I have walked in mine integrity:I have trusted also in Jehovah {Or, I shall not slide}without wavering.
Examine me, O Jehovah, and prove me;Try my {Hebrew: reins.}heart and my mind.
For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes;And I have walked in thy truth.
I have not sat with men of falsehood;Neither will I go in with dissemblers.
I hate the assembly of evil-doers,And will not sit with the wicked.
I will wash my hands in innocency:So will I compass thine altar, O Jehovah;
That I may {Or, publish with the voice of thanksgiving}make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard,And tell of all thy wondrous works.
Jehovah, I love the habitation of thy house,And the place {Hebrew: of the tabernacle of thy glory.}where thy glory dwelleth.
{Or, Take not away}Gather not my soul with sinners,Nor my life with men of blood;
In whose hands is wickedness,And their right hand is full of bribes.
But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity:Redeem me, and be merciful unto me.
My foot standeth in an even place:In the congregations will I bless Jehovah.
A Psalm of David.Jehovah is my light and my salvation;Whom shall I fear?Jehovah is the {Or, stronghold}strength of my life;Of whom shall I be afraid?
When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh,Even mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.
Though a host should encamp against me,My heart shall not fear:Though war should rise against me, {Or, In this}Even then will I be confident.
One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after:That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life,To behold {Or, the pleasantness}the beauty of Jehovah,And to {Or, consider his temple}inquire in his temple.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion:In the covert of his {Hebrew: tent.}tabernacle will he hide me;He will lift me up upon a rock.
And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me;And I will offer in his {Hebrew: tent.}tabernacle sacrifices of {Or, shouting Or, trumpet-sounding}joy;I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto Jehovah.
Hear, O Jehovah, when I cry with my voice:Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee,Thy face, Jehovah, will I seek.
Hide not thy face from me;Put not thy servant away in anger:Thou hast been my help;Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
{Or, For my father and my mother have forsaken me, But Jehovah &c.}When my father and my mother forsake me,Then Jehovah will take me up.
Teach me thy way, O Jehovah;And lead me in a plain path,Because of {Or, them that lie in wait for me}mine enemies.
Deliver me not over unto the will of mine adversaries:For false witnesses are risen up against me,And such as breathe out cruelty.
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of JehovahIn the land of the living.
Wait for Jehovah:Be strong, and let thy heart take courage;Yea, wait thou for Jehovah.
A Psalm of David.Unto thee, O Jehovah, will I call:My rock, be not thou deaf unto me;Lest, if thou be silent unto me,I become like them that go down into the pit.

Jehovah is their strength,And he is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed.
Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance:Be their shepherd also, and bear them up for ever.
I {Or, was inquired of}am inquired of by them that asked not for me; I {Or, was found}am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation {Or, as otherwise read, that hath not called upon}that was not called by my name.
I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, that walk in a way that is not good, after their own thoughts;
a people that provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens, and burning incense upon bricks;
that {Or, dwell}sit among the graves, and lodge in the {Or, vaults}secret places; that eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;
that say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me, for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.
Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, yea, I will recompense into their bosom,
your own iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith Jehovah, that have burned incense upon the mountains, and {Or, defiled}blasphemed me upon the hills; therefore will I {Or, measure their former work}first measure their work into their bosom.
Thus saith Jehovah, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not, for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants' sake, that I may not destroy them all.
And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains; and my chosen shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.
And Sharon shall be a {Or, pasture}fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me.
But ye that forsake Jehovah, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for {Hebrew: Gad. See Genesis 30:11.}Fortune, and that fill up mingled wine unto {Hebrew: Meni.}Destiny;
I will destine you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter; because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but ye did that which was evil in mine eyes, and chose that wherein I delighted not.
Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be put to shame;
behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall wail for {Hebrew: breaking.}vexation of spirit.
And ye shall leave your name for {Hebrew: an oath.}a curse unto my chosen; and the Lord Jehovah will slay thee; and he will call his servants by another name:
so that he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of {Hebrew: Amen. See 2 Corinthians 1:20; Revelation 3:14.}truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of {Hebrew: Amen. See 2 Corinthians 1:20; Revelation 3:14.}truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes.
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create; for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and there shall be heard in her no more the voice of weeping and the voice of crying.
There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days; for the child shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner being a hundred years old shall be accursed.
And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree shall be the days of my people, and my chosen shall {Hebrew: wear out.}long enjoy the work of their hands.
They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for {Or, sudden terror}calamity; for they are the seed of the blessed of Jehovah, and their offspring {Or, shall be with them}with them.
And it shall come to pass that, before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith Jehovah.
and think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
But he that entereth in by the door is the {Or, a shepherd}shepherd of the sheep.
To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
When he hath put forth all his own, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
This {Or, proverb}parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
All that came {Some ancient authorities omit before me}before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture.
The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may {Or, have abundance}have it abundantly.
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep.
He that is a hireling, and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, beholdeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf snatcheth them, and scattereth them:
he fleeth because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd; and I know mine own, and mine own know me,
even as the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must {Or, lead}bring, and they shall hear my voice: and {Or, there shall be one flock}they shall become one flock, one shepherd.
Therefore doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
No one {Some ancient authorities read took it away}taketh it away from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have {Or, right}power to lay it down, and I have {Or, right}power to take it again. This commandment received I from my Father.
There arose a division again among the Jews because of these words.
And many of them said, He hath a demon, and is mad; why hear ye him?
Others said, These are not the sayings of one possessed with a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?
{Some ancient authorities read At that time was the feast}And it was the feast of the dedication at Jerusalem:
it was winter; and Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomon's {Or, portico}porch.
The Jews therefore came round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou hold us in suspense? If thou art the Christ, tell us plainly.
Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father's name, these bear witness of me.
But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.
{Some ancient authorities read That which my Father hath given unto me}My Father, who hath given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch {Or, aught}them out of the Father's hand.
I and the Father are one.
The Jews took up stones again to stone him.
Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from the Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
The Jews answered him, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, {Psalm 82:6}I said, Ye are gods?
If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came (and the scripture cannot be broken),
say ye of him, whom the Father {Or, consecrated}sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
But if I do them, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.
They sought again to take him: and he went forth out of their hand.
And he went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John was at the first baptizing; and there he abode.
And many came unto him; and they said, John indeed did no sign: but all things whatsoever John spake of this man were true.
And many believed on him there.
