A Psalm of David.
Unto thee, O Jehovah, do I lift up my soul.
O my God, in thee have I trusted,
Let me not be put to shame;
Let not mine enemies triumph over me.
Yea, none that wait for thee shall be put to shame:
They shall be put to shame that deal treacherously without cause.
Show me thy ways, O Jehovah;
Teach me thy paths.
Guide me in thy truth, and teach me;
For thou art the God of my salvation;
For thee do I wait all the day.
Remember, O Jehovah, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindness;
For they have been ever of old.
Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions:
According to thy lovingkindness remember thou me,
For thy goodness' sake, O Jehovah.
Good and upright is Jehovah:
Therefore will he instruct sinners in the way.
The meek will he guide in justice;
And the meek will he teach his way.
All the paths of Jehovah are lovingkindness and truth
Unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
For thy name's sake, O Jehovah,
Pardon mine iniquity, for it is great.
What man is he that feareth Jehovah?
Him shall he instruct in the way that he shall choose.
His soul shall dwell at ease;
And his seed shall inherit the land.
The {Or, counsel Or, secret}friendship of Jehovah is with them that fear him;
{Or, And his covenat, to make them know it}And he will show them his covenant.
Mine eyes are ever toward Jehovah;
For he will pluck my feet out of the net.
Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me;
For I am desolate and afflicted.
The troubles of my heart are {Or, as otherwise read, relieve thou, And bring me &c.}enlarged:
Oh bring thou me out of my distresses.
Consider mine affliction and my travail;
And forgive all my sins.
Consider mine enemies, for they are many;
And they hate me with cruel hatred.
Oh keep my soul, and deliver me:
Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in thee.
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me,
For I wait for thee.
Redeem Israel, O God,
Out of all of his troubles.
Querverweise zu Psalm 25,2 Ps 25,2
Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto Jehovah, concerning the words of Cush a Benjamite.O Jehovah my God, in thee do I take refuge:Save me from all them that pursue me, and deliver me,
How long shall I take counsel in my soul,Having sorrow in my heart all the day?How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and answer me, O Jehovah my God:Lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him;Lest mine adversaries rejoice when I am moved.
Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge;My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.
Let not them that are mine enemies {Hebrew: falsely.}wrongfully rejoice over me;Neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.
For they speak not peace;But they devise deceitful words against them that are quiet in the land.
Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me;They said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.
Thou hast seen it, O Jehovah; keep not silence:O Lord, be not far from me.
Stir up thyself, and awake to the justice due unto me,Even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.
Judge me, O Jehovah my God, according to thy righteousness;And let them not rejoice over me.
Let them not say in their heart, {Hebrew: Aha, our desire.}Aha, so would we have it:Let them not say, We have swallowed him up.
For the Chief Musician; set to {That is, The hind of the morning.}Aijeleth hash-Shahar. A Psalm of David.My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? {Or, Far from my help are the words of my groaning Hebrew: roaring.}Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?
By this I know that thou delightest in me,Because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
They cried unto thee, and were delivered:They trusted in thee, and were not put to shame.
For the Chief Musician; set to {That is, The silent dove of them that are afar off. Or, as otherwise read, The dove of the distant terebinths.}Jonath elem rehokim. A Psalm of David. Michtam; when the Philistines took him in Gath.Be merciful unto me, O God; for man would swallow me up:All the day long he fighting oppresseth me.
{Or, He trusted on Jehovah, that he would deliver him}Commit thyself unto Jehovah; let him deliver him:Let him rescue him, seeing he delighteth in him.
Jehovah, how long shall the wicked,How long shall the wicked triumph?
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.In thee, O Jehovah, do I take refuge;Let me never be put to shame:Deliver me in thy righteousness.
Attend unto my cry;For I am brought very low:Deliver me from my persecutors;For they are stronger than I.
Oh taste and see that Jehovah is good:Blessed is the man that taketh refuge in him.
Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you:
neither let Hezekiah make you trust in Jehovah, saying, Jehovah will surely deliver us; this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, {Hebrew: Make with me a blessing.}Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig-tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, Jehovah will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim? and have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
Who are they among all the gods of these countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that Jehovah should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
And Jehovah helpeth them, and rescueth them;He rescueth them from the wicked, and saveth them,Because they have taken refuge in him.
Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
In thee, O Jehovah, do I take refuge:Let me never be put to shame.
Now therefore, O Jehovah our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art Jehovah, even thou only.
{Or, A stedfast mind thou keepest in perfect peace, because it &c.}Thou wilt keep him {Hebrew: peace, peace.}in perfect peace, whose {Or, imagination}mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee.
For I will defend this city to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I {Or, have laid}lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner-stone of sure foundation: he that believeth shall not be in haste.
Thou shalt winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them; and thou shalt rejoice in Jehovah, thou shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah; and they that wait for me shall not be put to shame.
and hope putteth not to shame; because the love of God hath been {Greek: poured out.}shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given unto us.
For the scripture saith, {Isaiah 28:16}Whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shame.
Because it is contained in {Or, a scripture}scripture, {Isaiah 28:16}Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, {Or, honorable}precious:And he that believeth on {Or, it}him shall not be put to shame.
