A Psalm of David.
Jehovah is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
Jehovah is the {Or, stronghold}strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh,
Even mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.
Though a host should encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear:
Though war should rise against me,
{Or, In this}Even then will I be confident.
One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after:
That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life,
To behold {Or, the pleasantness}the beauty of Jehovah,
And to {Or, consider his temple}inquire in his temple.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion:
In the covert of his {Hebrew: tent.}tabernacle will he hide me;
He will lift me up upon a rock.
And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me;
And I will offer in his {Hebrew: tent.}tabernacle sacrifices of {Or, shouting Or, trumpet-sounding}joy;
I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto Jehovah.
Hear, O Jehovah, when I cry with my voice:
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee,
Thy face, Jehovah, will I seek.
Hide not thy face from me;
Put not thy servant away in anger:
Thou hast been my help;
Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
{Or, For my father and my mother have forsaken me, But Jehovah &c.}When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then Jehovah will take me up.
Teach me thy way, O Jehovah;
And lead me in a plain path,
Because of {Or, them that lie in wait for me}mine enemies.
Deliver me not over unto the will of mine adversaries:
For false witnesses are risen up against me,
And such as breathe out cruelty.
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah
In the land of the living.
Wait for Jehovah:
Be strong, and let thy heart take courage;
Yea, wait thou for Jehovah.
Querverweise zu Psalm 27,10 Ps 27,10
I am become a stranger unto my brethren,And an alien unto my mother's children.
Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and finding him, he said, Dost thou believe on {Many ancient authorities read the Son of Man.}the Son of God?
He will feed his flock like a shepherd, he will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and will gently lead those that have their young.
And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more may this Benjamite now do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for Jehovah hath bidden him.
Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, these may forget, yet will not I forget thee.
At my first defence no one took my part, but all forsook me: may it not be laid to their account.
And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against parents, and {Or, put them to death}cause them to be put to death.
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.
and a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
