A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.O God, thou art my God; earnestly will I seek thee:My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee,In a dry and weary land, where no water is.
So have I looked upon thee in the sanctuary,To see thy power and thy glory.
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life,My lips shall praise thee.
So will I bless thee while I live:I will lift up my hands in thy name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with {Hebrew: fat.}marrow and fatness;And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips;
When I remember thee upon my bed, {Or, I meditate}And meditate on thee in the night-watches.
For thou hast been my help,And in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
My soul followeth hard after thee:Thy right hand upholdeth me.
But those that seek my soul, to {Or, shall be destroyed: They shall &c.}destroy it,Shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
They shall be {Or, poured out by}given over to the power of the sword:They shall be a portion for {Or, jackals}foxes.
But the king shall rejoice in God:Every one that sweareth by him shall glory; For the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
For the Chief Musician; on a stringed instrument. A Psalm of David.Hear my cry, O God;Attend unto my prayer.
From the end of the earth will I call unto thee, when my heart {Or, fainteth}is overwhelmed:Lead me to {Or, a rock that is too high for me}the rock that is higher than I.
For thou hast been a refuge for me,A strong tower from the enemy.
I will dwell in thy {Hebrew: tent.}tabernacle for ever:I will take refuge in the covert of thy wings. [Selah
For thou, O God, hast heard my vows:Thou hast {Or, given a heritage unto those &c.}given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
Thou wilt prolong the king's life; His years shall be as many generations.
He shall abide before God for ever:Oh prepare lovingkindness and truth, that they may preserve him.
So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever,That I may daily perform my vows.
For the Chief Musician; after the manner of Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. My soul {Hebrew: is silent unto God.}waiteth in silence for God only:From him cometh my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation:He is my high tower; I shall not be greatly moved.
How long will ye set upon a man, {Or, as otherwise read. Ye shall be slain &c.}That ye may slay him, all of you,Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
They only consult to thrust him down from his dignity; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. [Selah
My soul, {Hebrew: be thou silent unto God.}wait thou in silence for God only; For my expectation is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation:He is my high tower; I shall not be moved.
With God is my salvation and my glory:The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Trust in him at all times, ye people;Pour out your heart before him:God is a refuge for us. [Selah
Surely men of low degree are {Hebrew: a breath.}vanity, and men of high degree are a lie:In the balances they will go up;They are together lighter than {Hebrew: a breath.}vanity.
Trust not in oppression,And become not vain in robbery:If riches increase, set not your heart thereon.
God hath spoken once,Twice have I heard this,That power belongeth unto God.
Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth lovingkindness; For thou renderest to every man according to his work.

For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. How {Or, lovely}amiable are thy tabernacles,O Jehovah of hosts!
My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of Jehovah; My heart and my flesh {Or, sing for joy}cry out unto the living God.
Yea, the sparrow hath found her a house,And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young,Even thine altars, O Jehovah of hosts,My King, and my God.
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house:They will be still praising thee. [Selah
Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee;In whose heart are the highways to Zion.
Passing through the valley of {Or, balsam-trees Hebrew: Baca. See 2 Samuel 5:23}Weeping they make it a place of springs;Yea, the early rain covereth it with blessings.
They go from strength to strength;Every one of them appeareth before God in Zion.
O Jehovah God of hosts, hear my prayer;Give ear, O God of Jacob. [Selah
{Or, behold our shield, O God}Behold, O God our shield,And look upon the face of thine anointed.
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand.I had rather {Or, stand at the threshold of &c.}be a doorkeeper in the house of my God,Than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For Jehovah God is a sun and a shield:Jehovah will give grace and glory; No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
O Jehovah of hosts,Blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
