A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
O God, thou art my God; earnestly will I seek thee:
My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee,
In a dry and weary land, where no water is.
So have I looked upon thee in the sanctuary,
To see thy power and thy glory.
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise thee.
So will I bless thee while I live:
I will lift up my hands in thy name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with {Hebrew: fat.}marrow and fatness;
And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips;
When I remember thee upon my bed,
{Or, I meditate}And meditate on thee in the night-watches.
For thou hast been my help,
And in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
My soul followeth hard after thee:
Thy right hand upholdeth me.
But those that seek my soul, to {Or, shall be destroyed: They shall &c.}destroy it,
Shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
They shall be {Or, poured out by}given over to the power of the sword:
They shall be a portion for {Or, jackals}foxes.
But the king shall rejoice in God:
Every one that sweareth by him shall glory;
For the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
Querverweise zu Psalm 63,6 Ps 63,6
Yet Jehovah will command his lovingkindness in the day-time;And in the night his song shall be with me,Even a prayer unto the God of my life.
Thou holdest mine eyes watching:I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
I have considered the days of old,The years of ancient times.
I call to remembrance my song in the night:I commune with mine own heart;And my spirit maketh diligent search.
I have remembered thy name, O Jehovah, in the night,And have observed thy law.
I anticipated the dawning of the morning, and cried:I hoped in thy words.
Mine eyes anticipated the night-watches,That I might meditate on thy word.
How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God!How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand:When I awake, I am still with thee.
Let the saints exult in glory:Let them sing for joy upon their beds.
By night on my bedI sought him whom my soul loveth:I sought him, but I found him not.
I said, I will rise now, and go about the city;In the streets and in the broad waysI will seek him whom my soul loveth:I sought him, but I found him not.
I {Or, sleep, but my heart waketh}was asleep, but my heart waked:It is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying,Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my {Hebrew: perfect.}undefiled;For my head is filled with dew,My locks with the drops of the night.
Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches;Pour out thy heart like water before the face of the Lord:Lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger at the head of every street.
