For the Chief Musician; on a stringed instrument. A Psalm of David.
Hear my cry, O God;
Attend unto my prayer.
 From the end of the earth will I call unto thee, when my heart {Or, fainteth}is overwhelmed:
Lead me to {Or, a rock that is too high for me}the rock that is higher than I.
 For thou hast been a refuge for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
 I will dwell in thy {Hebrew: tent.}tabernacle for ever:
I will take refuge in the covert of thy wings. [Selah
 For thou, O God, hast heard my vows:
Thou hast {Or, given a heritage unto those &c.}given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
 Thou wilt prolong the king's life;
His years shall be as many generations.
 He shall abide before God for ever:
Oh prepare lovingkindness and truth, that they may preserve him.
 So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever,
That I may daily perform my vows.

One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after:That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life,To behold {Or, the pleasantness}the beauty of Jehovah,And to {Or, consider his temple}inquire in his temple.
For thou hast been my help,And in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
A Prayer of Moses the man of God.Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-placeIn all generations.

Look on my right hand, and see;For there is no man that knoweth me:Refuge hath failed me;No man careth for my soul.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us:
