For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.
How {Or, lovely}amiable are thy tabernacles,
O Jehovah of hosts!
My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of Jehovah;
My heart and my flesh {Or, sing for joy}cry out unto the living God.
Yea, the sparrow hath found her a house,
And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young,
Even thine altars, O Jehovah of hosts,
My King, and my God.
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house:
They will be still praising thee.
[Selah
Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee;
In whose heart are the highways to Zion.
Passing through the valley of {Or, balsam-trees Hebrew: Baca. See 2 Samuel 5:23}Weeping they make it a place of springs;
Yea, the early rain covereth it with blessings.
They go from strength to strength;
Every one of them appeareth before God in Zion.
O Jehovah God of hosts, hear my prayer;
Give ear, O God of Jacob. [Selah
{Or, behold our shield, O God}Behold, O God our shield,
And look upon the face of thine anointed.
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand.
I had rather {Or, stand at the threshold of &c.}be a doorkeeper in the house of my God,
Than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For Jehovah God is a sun and a shield:
Jehovah will give grace and glory;
No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
O Jehovah of hosts,
Blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
Querverweise zu Psalm 84,2 Ps 84,2
For the Chief Musician. Maschil of the sons of Korah.As the hart panteth after the water brooks,So panteth my soul after thee, O God.
Oh that I knew where I might find him!That I might come even to his seat!
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God:When shall I come and appear before God?
With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee earnestly: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.O God, thou art my God; earnestly will I seek thee:My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee,In a dry and weary land, where no water is.
Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might {Or, flow down}quake at thy presence, {[Chapter 64:1 in Hebrew]}
So have I looked upon thee in the sanctuary,To see thy power and thy glory.
My flesh and my heart faileth;But God is the {Hebrew: rock.}strength of my heart and my portion for ever.
My soul breaketh for the longingThat it hath unto thine ordinances at all times.
כ KAPH.My soul fainteth for thy salvation;But I hope in thy word.
I spread forth my hands unto thee:My soul thirsteth after thee, as a weary land. [Selah
He brought me to the {Hebrew: house of wine.}banqueting-house,And his banner over me was love.
Stay ye me with {Hebrew: cakes of raisins.}raisins, refresh me with apples;For I am sick from love.
I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,If ye find my beloved, {Hebrew: What will ye tell him? That &c.}That ye tell him, that I am sick from love.
