For the Chief Musician; after the manner of Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.
My soul {Hebrew: is silent unto God.}waiteth in silence for God only:
From him cometh my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation:
He is my high tower; I shall not be greatly moved.
How long will ye set upon a man,
{Or, as otherwise read. Ye shall be slain &c.}That ye may slay him, all of you,
Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
They only consult to thrust him down from his dignity;
They delight in lies;
They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. [Selah
My soul, {Hebrew: be thou silent unto God.}wait thou in silence for God only;
For my expectation is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation:
He is my high tower; I shall not be moved.
With God is my salvation and my glory:
The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Trust in him at all times, ye people;
Pour out your heart before him:
God is a refuge for us. [Selah
Surely men of low degree are {Hebrew: a breath.}vanity, and men of high degree are a lie:
In the balances they will go up;
They are together lighter than {Hebrew: a breath.}vanity.
Trust not in oppression,
And become not vain in robbery:
If riches increase, set not your heart thereon.
God hath spoken once,
Twice have I heard this,
That power belongeth unto God.
Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth lovingkindness;
For thou renderest to every man according to his work.
Querverweise zu Psalm 62,11 Ps 62,11
For God speaketh {Or, in one way, yea, in two}once,Yea twice, though man regardeth it not.
Ascribe ye strength unto God:His excellency is over Israel,And his strength is in the skies.
Once have I spoken, and I will not answer;Yea, twice, but I will proceed no further.
{Or, Terrible is God}O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places:The God of Israel, he giveth strength and power unto his people.Blessed be God.
Trust ye in Jehovah for ever; for in {Hebrw: Jah.}Jehovah, even Jehovah, is {Or, a rock of ages}an everlasting rock.
And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from {Or, evil}the evil one. {Many authorities, some ancient, but with variations add For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen. }
And Jesus came to them and spake unto them, saying, All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth.
Jesus answered him, Thou wouldest have no {Or, authority}power against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath greater sin.
After these things I heard as it were a great voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,Hallelujah; Salvation, and glory, and power, belong to our God:
