Versliste
And I saw another angel flying in mid heaven, having {Or, an eternal gospel}eternal good tidings to proclaim unto them that {Greek: sit.}dwell on the earth, and unto every nation and tribe and tongue and people;
and he saith with a great voice, Fear God, and give him glory; for the hour of his judgment is come: and {See marginal note on chapter 3:9}worship him that made the heaven and the earth and sea and fountains of waters.
But I hold not my life of any account as dear unto myself, {Or, in comparison of accomplishing my course }so that I may accomplish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the {Or, good tidings}gospel of the grace of God.
And {Some ancient authorities read he.}Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the {Or, good tidings: and so elsewhere.}gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease and all manner of sickness among the people.
And this {Or, these good tidings}gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole {Greek: inhabited earth.}world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come.
Oh sing unto Jehovah a new song:Sing unto Jehovah, all the earth.
Sing unto Jehovah, bless his name;Show forth his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,His marvellous works among all the peoples.
For great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised:He is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are {Or, things of nought}idols;But Jehovah made the heavens.
Honor and majesty are before him:Strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
Ascribe unto Jehovah, ye kindreds of the peoples,Ascribe unto Jehovah glory and strength.
Ascribe unto Jehovah the glory due unto his name:Bring an offering, and come into his courts.
Oh worship Jehovah {Or, in the beauty of holiness}in holy array:Tremble before him, all the earth.
Say among the nations, Jehovah reigneth:The world also is established that it cannot be moved:He will judge the peoples with equity
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof;
Let the field exult, and all that is therein;Then shall all the trees of the wood sing for joy
Before Jehovah; for he cometh,For he cometh to judge the earth:He will judge the world with righteousness,And the peoples {Or, in his faithfulness}with his truth.
Jehovah reigneth; let the earth rejoice;Let the multitude of isles be glad.
Clouds and darkness are round about him:Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
A fire goeth before him,And burneth up his adversaries round about.
His lightnings lightened the world:The earth saw, and trembled.
The mountains melted like wax at the presence of Jehovah,At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
The heavens declare his righteousness,And all the peoples have seen his glory.
Let all them be put to shame that serve graven images,That boast themselves of idols:Worship him, all ye gods.
Zion heard and was glad,And the daughters of Judah rejoiced,Because of thy judgments, O Jehovah.
For thou, Jehovah, art most high above all the earth:Thou art exalted far above all gods.
O ye that love Jehovah, hate evil:He preserveth the souls of his saints;He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
Light is sown for the righteous,And gladness for the upright in heart.
Be glad in Jehovah, ye righteous;And give thanks to his holy memorial name.
A Psalm.Oh sing unto Jehovah a new song;For he hath done marvellous things:His right hand, and his holy arm, hath wrought salvation for him.
Jehovah hath made known his salvation:His righteousness hath he openly showed in the sight of the nations.
He hath remembered his lovingkindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel:All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Make a joyful noise unto Jehovah, all the earth:Break forth and sing for joy, yea, sing praises.
Sing praises unto Jehovah with the harp;With the harp and the voice of melody.
With trumpets and sound of cornetMake a joyful noise before the King, Jehovah.
Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof;The world, and they that dwell therein;
Let the floods clap their hands;Let the hills sing for joy together
Before Jehovah; for he cometh to judge the earth:He will judge the world with righteousness,And the peoples with equity.
And {Some ancient authorities read he.}Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the {Or, good tidings: and so elsewhere.}gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease and all manner of sickness among the people.
The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked; but now he {Some ancient authorities read declareth to men.}commandeth men that they should all everywhere repent:
inasmuch as he hath appointed a day in which he will judge {Greek: the inhabited earth.}the world in righteousness {Greek: in.}by {Or, a man}the man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, I took thee from the {Or, pasture}sheepcote, from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be {Or, leader}prince over my people, over Israel;
and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe in the {Or, good tidings: and so elsewhere.}gospel.
And this {Or, these good tidings}gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole {Greek: inhabited earth.}world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come.
But I hold not my life of any account as dear unto myself, {Or, in comparison of accomplishing my course }so that I may accomplish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the {Or, good tidings}gospel of the grace of God.
For the grace of God {Or, hath appeared to all men, bringing salvation}hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men,
to open their eyes, {Or, to turn them}that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.
Paul, a {Greek: bondservant.}servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the {Greek: good tidings: and so elsewhere. See marginal note on Matthew 4:23.}gospel of God,
For we stretch not ourselves overmuch, as though we reached not unto you: for we {Or, were the first to come}came even as far as unto you in the {Greek: good tidings. See marginal note on chapter 2:12.}gospel of Christ:
according to the {Or, good tidings. See Matthew 4:23 margin}gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
in whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth, the {Or, good tidings. See marginal note on Matthew 4:23.}gospel of your salvation,— in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the {Greek: good tidings. See Matthew 4:23 margin.}gospel of peace;
in the day when God {Or, judgeth}shall judge the secrets of men, according to my {See marginal notes on chapter 1:1.}gospel, by Jesus Christ.
{Some ancient authorities omit verse 25-27. Compare the end of chapter 14.}Now to him that is able to establish you according to my {See marginal note on chapter 1:1}gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which hath been kept in silence through times eternal,
Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my {See marginal note on chapter 1:8.}gospel:
But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory:
And I saw another angel flying in mid heaven, having {Or, an eternal gospel}eternal good tidings to proclaim unto them that {Greek: sit.}dwell on the earth, and unto every nation and tribe and tongue and people;
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to do service for the sake of them that shall inherit salvation?
But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men-children alive.
And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men-children alive?
And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwife come unto them.
And God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them households.
Paul, a {Greek: bondservant.}servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the {Greek: good tidings: and so elsewhere. See marginal note on Matthew 4:23.}gospel of God,
which he promised afore through his prophets in the holy scriptures,
concerning his Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,
who was {Greek: determined.}declared to be the Son of God {Or, in}with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection {Or, of the dead}from the dead; even Jesus Christ our Lord,
through whom we received grace and apostleship, unto obedience {Or, to the faith}of faith among all the {Or, Gentiles}nations, for his name's sake;
among whom are ye also, called to be Jesus Christ's:
to all that are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, {Or, because}that your faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world.
For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the {Greek: good tidings: and so elsewhere. See marginal note on Matthew 4:23.}gospel of his Son, how unceasingly I make mention of you, always in my prayers
making request, if by any means now at length I may be prospered {Greek: in.}by the will of God to come unto you.
For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
that is, that I with you may be comforted {Or, among}in you, each of us by the other's faith, both yours and mine.
And I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you (and was hindered hitherto), that I might have some fruit {Or, among}in you also, even as {Or, among}in the rest of the Gentiles.
I am debtor both to Greeks and to Barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish.
So, as much as in me is, I am ready to {Greek: bring good tidings Compare chapter 10:15 f.}preach the gospel to you also that are in Rome.
For I am not ashamed of the {Greek: good tidings: and so elsewhere. See marginal note on Matthew 4:23.}gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, {Habakkuk 2:4.}But the righteous shall live {Greek: from.}by faith.
For the {Or, a wrath}wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who {Or, hold the truth Compare 1 Corinthians 7:30 (Greek)}hinder the truth in unrighteousness;
because that which is known of God is manifest in them; for God manifested it unto them.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; {Or, so that they are}that they may be without excuse:
because that, knowing God, they glorified him not as God, neither gave thanks; but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.
Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves:
for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed {Greek: unto the ages.}for ever. Amen.
For this cause God gave them up unto {Greek: passions of dishonor.}vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature:
and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due.
And even as they {Greek: did not approve.}refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;
being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
backbiters, {Or, haters of God}hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, unmerciful:
who, knowing the ordinance of God, that they that practise such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also consent with them that practise them.
And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a great voice, If any man {See marginal note on chapter 3:9}worshippeth the beast and his image, and receiveth a mark on his forehead, or upon his hand,
and the smoke of their torment goeth up {Greek: unto ages of ages.}for ever and ever; and they have no rest day and night, they that {See marginal note on chapter 3:9}worship the beast and his image, and whoso receiveth the mark of his name.
according to the {Or, good tidings. See Matthew 4:23 margin}gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
