The wordH1697 which came to JeremiahH3414 from the LORDH3068, sayingH559,
AriseH6965, and go downH3381 to the potter'sH3335 houseH1004, and there I will cause thee to hearH8085 my wordsH1697.
Then I went downH3381 to the potter'sH3335 houseH1004, and, beholdH2009, he wroughtH6213 a workH4399 on the wheelsH70. {wheels: or, frames, or, seats}
And the vesselH3627 that he madeH6213 of clayH2563 was marredH7843 in the handH3027 of the potterH3335: so he madeH6213 it againH7725 anotherH312 vesselH3627, as seemedH5869 goodH3474 to the potterH3335 to makeH6213 it. {of clay…: or, was marred, as clay in the hand of the potter} {made it…: Heb. returned and made, etc}
Then the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came to me, sayingH559,
O houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, cannotH3201 I doH6213 with you as this potterH3335? saithH5002 the LORDH3068. Behold, as the clayH2563 is in the potter'sH3335 handH3027, so are ye in mine handH3027, O houseH1004 of IsraelH3478.
At what instantH7281 I shall speakH1696 concerning a nationH1471, and concerning a kingdomH4467, to pluck upH5428, and to pull downH5422, and to destroyH6 it;
If that nationH1471, against whom I have pronouncedH1696, turnH7725 from their evilH7451, I will repentH5162 of the evilH7451 that I thoughtH2803 to doH6213 unto them.
And at what instantH7281 I shall speakH1696 concerning a nationH1471, and concerning a kingdomH4467, to buildH1129 and to plantH5193 it;
If it doH6213 evilH7451 in my sightH5869, that it obeyH8085 not my voiceH6963, then I will repentH5162 of the goodH2896, wherewith I saidH559 I would benefitH3190 them.
Now therefore go to, speakH559 to the menH376 of JudahH3063, and to the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, sayingH559, Thus saithH559 the LORDH3068; Behold, I frameH3335 evilH7451 against you, and deviseH2803 a deviceH4284 against you: returnH7725 ye now every oneH376 from his evilH7451 wayH1870, and make your waysH1870 and your doingsH4611 goodH3190.
And they saidH559, There is no hopeH2976: but we will walkH3212 afterH310 our own devicesH4284, and we will every oneH376 doH6213 the imaginationH8307 of his evilH7451 heartH3820.
Therefore thus saithH559 the LORDH3068; AskH7592 ye now among the heathenH1471, who hath heardH8085 such things: the virginH1330 of IsraelH3478 hath doneH6213 a veryH3966 horrible thingH8186.
Will a man leaveH5800 the snowH7950 of LebanonH3844 which cometh from the rockH6697 of the fieldH7704? or shall the coldH7119 flowingH5140 watersH4325 that come from another placeH2114 be forsakenH5428? {the snow…: or, my fields for a rock, or for the snow of Lebanon? shall the running waters be forsaken for the strange cold waters?}
Because my peopleH5971 hath forgottenH7911 me, they have burned incenseH6999 to vanityH7723, and they have caused them to stumbleH3782 in their waysH1870 from the ancientH5769 pathsH7635+H7635, to walkH3212 in pathsH5410, in a wayH1870 not cast upH5549;
To makeH7760 their landH776 desolateH8047, and a perpetualH5769 hissingH8292+H8292; every one that passethH5674 thereby shall be astonishedH8074, and wagH5110 his headH7218.
I will scatterH6327 them as with an eastH6921 windH7307 beforeH6440 the enemyH341; I will shewH7200 them the backH6203, and not the faceH6440, in the dayH3117 of their calamityH343.
Then saidH559 they, ComeH3212, and let us deviseH2803 devicesH4284 against JeremiahH3414; for the lawH8451 shall not perishH6 from the priestH3548, nor counselH6098 from the wiseH2450, nor the wordH1697 from the prophetH5030. ComeH3212, and let us smiteH5221 him with the tongueH3956, and let us not give heedH7181 to any of his wordsH1697. {with…: or, for the tongue}
Give heedH7181 to me, O LORDH3068, and hearkenH8085 to the voiceH6963 of them that contendH3401 with me.
Shall evilH7451 be recompensedH7999 for goodH2896? for they have diggedH3738 a pitH7745 for my soulH5315. RememberH2142 that I stoodH5975 beforeH6440 thee to speakH1696 goodH2896 for them, and to turn awayH7725 thy wrathH2534 from them.
Therefore deliver upH5414 their childrenH1121 to the famineH7458, and pour outH5064 their blood by the forceH3027 of the swordH2719; and let their wivesH802 be bereavedH7909 of their children, and be widowsH490; and let their menH582 be putH2026 to deathH4194; let their young menH970 be slainH5221 by the swordH2719 in battleH4421. {pour…: Heb. pour them out}
Let a cryH2201 be heardH8085 from their housesH1004, when thou shalt bringH935 a troopH1416 suddenlyH6597 upon them: for they have diggedH3738 a pitH7745+H7882 to takeH3920 me, and hidH2934 snaresH6341 for my feetH7272.
Yet, LORDH3068, thou knowestH3045 all their counselH6098 against me to slayH4194 me: forgiveH3722 not their iniquityH5771, neither blot outH4229 their sinH2403 from thy sightH6440, but let them be overthrownH3782 beforeH6440 thee; dealH6213 thus with them in the timeH6256 of thine angerH639. {to slay…: Heb. for death}
Querverweise zu Jeremia 18,21 Jer 18,21
But, O LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, that judgestH8199 righteouslyH6664, that triestH974 the reinsH3629 and the heartH3820, let me seeH7200 thy vengeanceH5360 on them: for unto thee have I revealedH1540 my causeH7379.
Therefore thus saithH559 the LORDH3068 of the menH582 of AnathothH6068, that seekH1245 thy lifeH5315, sayingH559, ProphesyH5012 not in the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068, that thou dieH4191 not by our handH3027:
Therefore thus saithH559 the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, Behold, I will punishH6485 them: the young menH970 shall dieH4191 by the swordH2719; their sonsH1121 and their daughtersH1323 shall dieH4191 by famineH7458: {punish: Heb. visit upon}
And there shall be no remnantH7611 of them: for I will bringH935 evilH7451 upon the menH582 of AnathothH6068, even the yearH8141 of their visitationH6486.
And it shall come to pass, if they sayH559 unto thee, Whither shall we go forthH3318? then thou shalt tellH559 them, Thus saithH559 the LORDH3068; Such as are for deathH4194, to deathH4194; and such as are for the swordH2719, to the swordH2719; and such as are for the famineH7458, to the famineH7458; and such as are for the captivityH7628, to the captivityH7628.
For deathH4194 is come upH5927 into our windowsH2474, and is enteredH935 into our palacesH759, to cut offH3772 the childrenH5768 from withoutH2351, and the young menH970 from the streetsH7339.
But thou, O LORDH3068, knowestH3045 me: thou hast seenH7200 me, and triedH974 mine heartH3820 toward thee: pull them outH5423 like sheepH6629 for the slaughterH2878, and prepareH6942 them for the dayH3117 of slaughterH2028. {toward…: Heb. with thee}
And I will appointH6485 over them fourH702 kindsH4940, saithH5002 the LORDH3068: the swordH2719 to slayH2026, and the dogsH3611 to tearH5498, and the fowlsH5775 of the heavenH8064, and the beastsH929 of the earthH776, to devourH398 and destroyH7843. {kinds: Heb. families}
Therefore thus saithH559 the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, Behold, I will punishH6485 them: the young menH970 shall dieH4191 by the swordH2719; their sonsH1121 and their daughtersH1323 shall dieH4191 by famineH7458: {punish: Heb. visit upon}
Now PashurH6583 the sonH1121 of ImmerH564 the priestH3548, who was also chiefH6496 governorH5057 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, heardH8085 that JeremiahH3414 prophesiedH5012 these thingsH1697.
Then PashurH6583 smoteH5221 JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030, and putH5414 him in the stocksH4115 that were in the highH5945 gateH8179 of BenjaminH1144, which was by the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068.
And it came to pass on the morrowH4283, that PashurH6583 brought forthH3318 JeremiahH3414 out of the stocksH4115. Then saidH559 JeremiahH3414 unto him, The LORDH3068 hath not calledH7121 thy nameH8034 PashurH6583, but MagormissabibH4036. {Magormissabib: that is, Fear round about}
For thus saithH559 the LORDH3068, Behold, I will makeH5414 thee a terrorH4032 to thyself, and to all thy friendsH157: and they shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719 of their enemiesH341, and thine eyesH5869 shall beholdH7200 it: and I will giveH5414 all JudahH3063 into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and he shall carry them captiveH1540 into BabylonH894, and shall slayH5221 them with the swordH2719.
Moreover I will deliverH5414 all the strengthH2633 of this cityH5892, and all the laboursH3018 thereof, and all the precious thingsH3366 thereof, and all the treasuresH214 of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 will I giveH5414 into the handH3027 of their enemiesH341, which shall spoilH962 them, and takeH3947 them, and carryH935 them to BabylonH894.
And thou, PashurH6583, and all that dwellH3427 in thine houseH1004 shall goH3212 into captivityH7628: and thou shalt comeH935 to BabylonH894, and there thou shalt dieH4191, and shalt be buriedH6912 there, thou, and all thy friendsH157, to whom thou hast prophesiedH5012 liesH8267.
Their widowsH490 are increasedH6105 to me above the sandH2344 of the seasH3220: I have broughtH935 upon them against the motherH517 of the young menH970 a spoilerH7703 at noondayH6672: I have caused him to fallH5307 upon it suddenlyH6597, and terrorsH928 upon the cityH5892. {the mother…: or, the mother city a young man spoiling, etc, or, the mother and the young men}
Therefore he broughtH5927 upon them the kingH4428 of the ChaldeesH3778, who slewH2026 their young menH970 with the swordH2719 in the houseH1004 of their sanctuaryH4720, and had no compassionH2550 upon young manH970 or maidenH1330, old manH2205, or him that stooped for ageH3486: he gaveH5414 them all into his handH3027.
But the LORDH3068 is with me as a mightyH1368 terrible oneH6184: therefore my persecutorsH7291 shall stumbleH3782, and they shall not prevailH3201: they shall be greatlyH3966 ashamedH954; for they shall not prosperH7919: their everlastingH5769 confusionH3639 shall never be forgottenH7911.
For thus saithH559 the LORDH3068 concerning the sonsH1121 and concerning the daughtersH1323 that are bornH3205 in this placeH4725, and concerning their mothersH517 that bareH3205 them, and concerning their fathersH1 that begatH3209 them in this landH776;
I have sentH7971 among you the pestilenceH1698 after the mannerH1870 of EgyptH4714: your young menH970 have I slainH2026 with the swordH2719, and have taken awayH7628 your horsesH5483; and I have made the stinkH889 of your campsH4264 to come upH5927 unto your nostrilsH639: yet have ye not returnedH7725 unto me, saithH5002 the LORDH3068. {after…: or, in the way} {and have…: Heb. with the captivity of your horses}
But, O LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, that triestH974 the righteousH6662, and seestH7200 the reinsH3629 and the heartH3820, let me seeH7200 thy vengeanceH5360 on them: for unto thee have I openedH1540 my causeH7379.
They shall dieH4191 of grievousH8463 deathsH4463; they shall not be lamentedH5594; neither shall they be buriedH6912; but they shall be as dungH1828 upon the faceH6440 of the earthH127: and they shall be consumedH3615 by the swordH2719, and by famineH7458; and their carcasesH5038 shall be meatH3978 for the fowlsH5775 of heavenH8064, and for the beastsH929 of the earthH776.
Let his childrenH1121 be fatherlessH3490, and his wifeH802 a widowH490.
Let his childrenH1121 be continuallyH5128 vagabondsH5128, and begH7592: let them seekH1875 their bread also out of their desolate placesH2723.
Let the extortionerH5383 catchH5367 all that he hath; and let the strangersH2114 spoilH962 his labourH3018.
Let there be none to extendH4900 mercyH2617 unto him: neither let there be any to favourH2603 his fatherless childrenH3490.
Let his posterityH319 be cut offH3772; and in the generationH1755 followingH312 let their nameH8034 be blotted outH4229.
Let the iniquityH5771 of his fathersH1 be rememberedH2142 with the LORDH3068; and let not the sinH2403 of his motherH517 be blotted outH4229.
Let them be before the LORDH3068 continuallyH8548, that he may cut offH3772 the memoryH2143 of them from the earthH776.
Because that he rememberedH2142 not to shewH6213 mercyH2617, but persecutedH7291 the poorH6041 and needyH34 manH376, that he might even slayH4191 the brokenH3512 in heartH3824.
As he lovedH157 cursingH7045, so let it comeH935 unto him: as he delightedH2654 not in blessingH1293, so let it be farH7368 from him.
As he clothedH3847 himself with cursingH7045 like as with his garmentH4055, so let it comeH935 into his bowelsH7130 like waterH4325, and like oilH8081 into his bonesH6106. {into his bowels: Heb. within him}
Let it be unto him as the garmentH899 which coverethH5844 him, and for a girdleH4206 wherewith he is girdedH2296 continuallyH8548.
Let this be the rewardH6468 of mine adversariesH7853 from the LORDH3068, and of them that speakH1696 evilH7451 against my soulH5315.
And my wrathH639 shall wax hotH2734, and I will killH2026 you with the swordH2719; and your wivesH802 shall be widowsH490, and your childrenH1121 fatherlessH3490.
