Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith,

And he that is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.
Children's children are the crown of old men;

A bribe is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it;

A friend loveth at all times;

And becometh surety in the presence of his neighbor.

He that hath a wayward heart findeth no good;

He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow;
And the father of a fool hath no joy.
A cheerful heart {Hebrew: causeth good healing.}is a good medicine;
But a broken spirit drieth up the bones.
A wicked man receiveth a bribe out of the bosom,
To pervert the ways of justice.
Wisdom is before the face of him that hath understanding;
But the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
A foolish son is a grief to his father,
And bitterness to her that bare him.
Also to {Or, fine}punish the righteous is not good,
Nor to smite the noble for their uprightness.
He {Or, that hath knowledge spareth his words, And a man of understanding is of a cool spirit}that spareth his words hath knowledge;
And he that is of a cool spirit is a man of understanding.
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise;
{Or, He that shutteth his lips is &c.}When he shutteth his lips, he is esteemed as prudent.

Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? A man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the {Hebrew: strength.}hardness of his face is changed.
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vainglory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
