The wordH1697 which came unto JeremiahH3414 from the LORDH3068, when kingH4428 ZedekiahH6667 sentH7971 unto him PashurH6583 the sonH1121 of MelchiahH4441, and ZephaniahH6846 the sonH1121 of MaaseiahH4641 the priestH3548, sayingH559,
EnquireH1875, I pray thee, of the LORDH3068 for usH1157; for NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 maketh warH3898 against us; if so be that the LORDH3068 will dealH6213 with us according to all his wondrous worksH6381, that he may go upH5927 from us.
Then saidH559 JeremiahH3414 unto them, Thus shall ye sayH559 to ZedekiahH6667:
Thus saithH559 the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478; Behold, I will turn backH5437 the weaponsH3627 of warH4421 that are in your handsH3027, wherewith ye fightH3898 against the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and against the ChaldeansH3778, which besiegeH6696 you withoutH2351 the wallsH2346, and I will assembleH622 them into the midstH8432 of this cityH5892.
And I myself will fightH3898 against you with an outstretchedH5186 handH3027 and with a strongH2389 armH2220, even in angerH639, and in furyH2534, and in greatH1419 wrathH7110.
And I will smiteH5221 the inhabitantsH3427 of this cityH5892, both manH120 and beastH929: they shall dieH4191 of a greatH1419 pestilenceH1698.
And afterwardH310, saithH5002 the LORDH3068, I will deliverH5414 ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and his servantsH5650, and the peopleH5971, and such as are leftH7604 in this cityH5892 from the pestilenceH1698, from the swordH2719, and from the famineH7458, into the handH3027 of NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and into the handH3027 of their enemiesH341, and into the handH3027 of those that seekH1245 their lifeH5315: and he shall smiteH5221 them with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719; he shall not spareH2347 them, neither have pityH2550, nor have mercyH7355.
And unto this peopleH5971 thou shalt sayH559, Thus saithH559 the LORDH3068; Behold, I setH5414 beforeH6440 you the wayH1870 of lifeH2416, and the wayH1870 of deathH4194.
He that abidethH3427 in this cityH5892 shall dieH4191 by the swordH2719, and by the famineH7458, and by the pestilenceH1698: but he that goeth outH3318, and fallethH5307 to the ChaldeansH3778 that besiegeH6696 you, he shall liveH2421+H2421, and his lifeH5315 shall be unto him for a preyH7998.
For I have setH7760 my faceH6440 against this cityH5892 for evilH7451, and not for goodH2896, saithH5002 the LORDH3068: it shall be givenH5414 into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and he shall burnH8313 it with fireH784.
And touching the houseH1004 of the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, say, HearH8085 ye the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068;
O houseH1004 of DavidH1732, thus saithH559 the LORDH3068; ExecuteH1777 judgmentH4941 in the morningH1242, and deliverH5337 him that is spoiledH1497 out of the handH3027 of the oppressorH6231, lest my furyH2534 go outH3318 like fireH784, and burnH1197 that none can quenchH3518 it, becauseH6440 of the evilH7455 of your doingsH4611. {Execute: Heb. Judge}
Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitantH3427 of the valleyH6010, and rockH6697 of the plainH4334, saithH5002 the LORDH3068; which sayH559, Who shall come downH5181 against us? or who shall enterH935 into our habitationsH4585? {inhabitant: Heb. inhabitress}
But I will punishH6485 you according to the fruitH6529 of your doingsH4611, saithH5002 the LORDH3068: and I will kindleH3341 a fireH784 in the forestH3293 thereof, and it shall devourH398 all things round aboutH5439 it. {punish: Heb. visit upon}
Querverweise zu Jeremia 21,7 Jer 21,7
And as the evilH7451 figsH8384, which cannot be eatenH398, they are so evilH7455; surely thus saithH559 the LORDH3068, So will I giveH5414 ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and his princesH8269, and the residueH7611 of JerusalemH3389, that remainH7604 in this landH776, and them that dwellH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714:
And I will deliverH5414 them to be removedH2189+H2113 into all the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776 for their hurtH7451, to be a reproachH2781 and a proverbH4912, a tauntH8148 and a curseH7045, in all placesH4725 whither I shall driveH5080 them. {to be removed: Heb. for removing, or, vexation}
And I will sendH7971 the swordH2719, the famineH7458, and the pestilenceH1698, among them, till they be consumedH8552 from off the landH127 that I gaveH5414 unto them and to their fathersH1.
And I will dashH5310 them oneH376 against anotherH251, even the fathersH1 and the sonsH1121 togetherH3162, saithH5002 the LORDH3068: I will not pityH2550, nor spareH2347, nor have mercyH7355, but destroyH7843 them. {one…: Heb. a man against his brother} {but…: Heb. from destroying them}
The princesH8269 of JudahH3063, and the princesH8269 of JerusalemH3389, the eunuchsH5631, and the priestsH3548, and all the peopleH5971 of the landH776, which passedH5674 between the partsH1335 of the calfH5695;
I will even giveH5414 them into the handH3027 of their enemiesH341, and into the handH3027 of them that seekH1245 their lifeH5315: and their dead bodiesH5038 shall be for meatH3978 unto the fowlsH5775 of the heavenH8064, and to the beastsH929 of the earthH776.
And ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 and his princesH8269 will I giveH5414 into the handH3027 of their enemiesH341, and into the handH3027 of them that seekH1245 their lifeH5315, and into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of Babylon'sH894 armyH2428, which are gone upH5927 from you.
Behold, I will commandH6680, saithH5002 the LORDH3068, and cause them to returnH7725 to this cityH5892; and they shall fightH3898 against it, and takeH3920 it, and burnH8313 it with fireH784: and I will makeH5414 the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 a desolationH8077 without an inhabitantH3427.
A nationH1471 of fierceH5794 countenanceH6440, which shall not regardH5375 the personH6440 of the oldH2205, nor shew favourH2603 to the youngH5288: {of fierce…: Heb. strong of face}
Then ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 sentH7971, and took him outH3947: and the kingH4428 askedH7592 him secretlyH5643 in his houseH1004, and saidH559, Is there any wordH1697 from the LORDH3068? And JeremiahH3414 saidH559, There isH3426: for, saidH559 he, thou shalt be deliveredH5414 into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894.
Therefore he broughtH5927 upon them the kingH4428 of the ChaldeesH3778, who slewH2026 their young menH970 with the swordH2719 in the houseH1004 of their sanctuaryH4720, and had no compassionH2550 upon young manH970 or maidenH1330, old manH2205, or him that stooped for ageH3486: he gaveH5414 them all into his handH3027.
But if thou refuseH3986 to go forthH3318, this is the wordH1697 that the LORDH3068 hath shewedH7200 me:
And, behold, all the womenH802 that are leftH7604 in the kingH4428 of Judah'sH3063 houseH1004 shall be brought forthH3318 to the kingH4428 of Babylon'sH894 princesH8269, and those women shall sayH559, Thy friendsH582+H7965 have set thee onH5496, and have prevailedH3201 against thee: thy feetH7272 are sunkH2883 in the mireH1206, and they are turned awayH5472 backH268. {Thy friends: Heb. Men of thy peace}
So they shall bring outH3318 all thy wivesH802 and thy childrenH1121 to the ChaldeansH3778: and thou shalt not escape outH4422 of their handH3027, but shalt be takenH8610 by the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894: and thou shalt cause this cityH5892 to be burnedH8313 with fireH784. {thou shalt cause…: Heb. thou shalt burn, etc}
Behold, I will stir upH5782 the MedesH4074 against them, which shall not regardH2803 silverH3701; and as for goldH2091, they shall not delightH2654 in it.
And it came to pass, that when ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063 sawH7200 them, and all the menH582 of warH4421, then they fledH1272, and went forthH3318 out of the cityH5892 by nightH3915, by the wayH1870 of the king'sH4428 gardenH1588, by the gateH8179 betwixt the two wallsH2346: and he went outH3318 the wayH1870 of the plainH6160.
But the Chaldeans'H3778 armyH2428 pursuedH7291 afterH310 them, and overtookH5381 ZedekiahH6667 in the plainsH6160 of JerichoH3405: and when they had takenH3947 him, they brought him upH5927 to NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247 in the landH776 of HamathH2574, where he gaveH1696 judgmentH4941 upon him. {gave…: Heb. spake with him judgments}
Then the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 slewH7819 the sonsH1121 of ZedekiahH6667 in RiblahH7247 before his eyesH5869: also the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 slewH7819 all the noblesH2715 of JudahH3063.
Moreover he put outH5786 Zedekiah'sH6667 eyesH5869, and boundH631 him with chainsH5178, to carryH935 him to BabylonH894. {with…: Heb. with two brasen chains, or, fetters}
Their bowsH7198 also shall dashH7376 the young menH5288 to piecesH7376; and they shall have no pityH7355 on the fruitH6529 of the wombH990; their eyeH5869 shall not spareH2347 childrenH1121.
But the armyH2428 of the ChaldeansH3778 pursuedH7291 afterH310 the kingH4428, and overtookH5381 ZedekiahH6667 in the plainsH6160 of JerichoH3405; and all his armyH2428 was scatteredH6327 from him.
Then they tookH8610 the kingH4428, and carried him upH5927 unto the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247 in the landH776 of HamathH2574; where he gaveH1696 judgmentH4941 upon him.
And the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 slewH7819 the sonsH1121 of ZedekiahH6667 before his eyesH5869: he slewH7819 also all the princesH8269 of JudahH3063 in RiblahH7247.
Then he put outH5786 the eyesH5869 of ZedekiahH6667; and the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 boundH631 him in chainsH5178, and carriedH935 him to BabylonH894, and putH5414 him in prisonH1004+H6486 till the dayH3117 of his deathH4194. {put out: Heb. blinded} {chains: or, fetters} {prison: Heb. house of the wards}
When the boughsH7105 thereof are witheredH3001, they shall be broken offH7665: the womenH802 comeH935, and set them on fireH215: for it is a peopleH5971 of no understandingH998: therefore he that madeH6213 them will not have mercyH7355 on them, and he that formedH3335 them will shew them no favourH2603.
And the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 tookH3947 SeraiahH8304 the chiefH7218 priestH3548, and ZephaniahH6846 the secondH4932 priestH3548, and the threeH7969 keepersH8104 of the doorH5592: {door: Heb. threshold}
He tookH3947 also out of the cityH5892 anH259 eunuchH5631, which had the chargeH6496 of the menH582 of warH4421; and sevenH7651 menH582 of them that were nearH7200 the king'sH4428 personH6440, which were foundH4672 in the cityH5892; and the principalH8269 scribeH5608 of the hostH6635, who musteredH6633 the peopleH5971 of the landH776; and threescoreH8346 menH376 of the peopleH5971 of the landH776, that were foundH4672 in the midstH8432 of the cityH5892. {were near…: Heb. saw the face of the king} {principal…: or, scribe of the captain of the host}
So NebuzaradanH5018 the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 tookH3947 them, and broughtH3212 them to the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247.
And the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 smoteH5221 them, and put them to deathH4191 in RiblahH7247 in the landH127 of HamathH2574. Thus JudahH3063 was carried away captiveH1540 out of his own landH776.
I was wrothH7107 with my peopleH5971, I have pollutedH2490 mine inheritanceH5159, and givenH5414 them into thine handH3027: thou didst shewH7760 them no mercyH7356; upon the ancientH2205 hast thou veryH3966 heavilyH3513 laid thy yokeH5923.
And the armyH2428 of the ChaldeesH3778 pursuedH7291 afterH310 the kingH4428, and overtookH5381 him in the plainsH6160 of JerichoH3405: and all his armyH2428 were scatteredH6327 from him.
So they tookH8610 the kingH4428, and brought him upH5927 to the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247; and they gaveH1696 judgmentH4941 upon him. {gave…: Heb. spake judgment with him}
And they slewH7819 the sonsH1121 of ZedekiahH6667 before his eyesH5869, and put outH5786 the eyesH5869 of ZedekiahH6667, and boundH631 him with fettersH5178 of brassH5178, and carriedH935 him to BabylonH894. {put…: Heb. made blind}
And mine eyeH5869 shall not spareH2347, neither will I have pityH2550: I will recompenseH5414 thee according to thy waysH1870 and thine abominationsH8441 that are in the midstH8432 of thee; and ye shall knowH3045 that I am the LORDH3068 that smitethH5221. {thee according: Heb. upon thee, etc}
And the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 tookH3947 SeraiahH8304 the chiefH7218 priestH3548, and ZephaniahH6846 the secondH4932 priestH3548, and the threeH7969 keepersH8104 of the doorH5592: {door: Heb. threshold}
And out of the cityH5892 he tookH3947 anH259 officerH5631 that was setH6496 over the menH582 of warH4421, and fiveH2568 menH582 of them that wereH7200 in the king'sH4428 presenceH6440, which were foundH4672 in the cityH5892, and the principalH8269 scribeH5608 of the hostH6635, which musteredH6633 the peopleH5971 of the landH776, and threescoreH8346 menH376 of the peopleH5971 of the landH776 that were foundH4672 in the cityH5892: {officer: or, eunuch} {were in…: Heb. saw the king's face} {principal…: or, scribe of the captain of the host}
And NebuzaradanH5018 captainH7227 of the guardH2876 tookH3947 these, and broughtH3212 them to the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247:
And the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 smoteH5221 them, and slewH4191 them at RiblahH7247 in the landH776 of HamathH2574. So JudahH3063 was carried awayH1540 out of their landH127.
Therefore will I also dealH6213 in furyH2534: mine eyeH5869 shall not spareH2347, neither will I have pityH2550: and though they cryH7121 in mine earsH241 with a loudH1419 voiceH6963, yet will I not hearH8085 them.
And all the vesselsH3627 of the houseH1004 of GodH430, greatH1419 and smallH6996, and the treasuresH214 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and the treasuresH214 of the kingH4428, and of his princesH8269; all these he broughtH935 to BabylonH894.
And they burntH8313 the houseH1004 of GodH430, and brake downH5422 the wallH2346 of JerusalemH3389, and burntH8313 all the palacesH759 thereof with fireH784, and destroyedH7843 all the goodlyH4261 vesselsH3627 thereof.
And them that had escapedH7611 from the swordH2719 carried he awayH1540 to BabylonH894; where they were servantsH5650 to him and his sonsH1121 until the reignH4427 of the kingdomH4438 of PersiaH6539: {them…: Heb. the remainder from the sword}
And to the othersH428 he saidH559 in mine hearingH241, GoH5674 ye afterH310 him through the cityH5892, and smiteH5221: let not your eyeH5869 spareH2347, neither have ye pityH2550: {mine hearing: Heb. mine ears}
And the princeH5387 that is amongH8432 them shall bearH5375 upon his shoulderH3802 in the twilightH5939, and shall go forthH3318: they shall digH2864 through the wallH7023 to carry outH3318 thereby: he shall coverH3680 his faceH6440, thatH3282 he seeH7200 not the groundH776 with his eyesH5869.
My netH7568 also will I spreadH6566 upon him, and he shall be takenH8610 in my snareH4686: and I will bringH935 him to BabylonH894 to the landH776 of the ChaldeansH3778; yet shall he not seeH7200 it, though he shall dieH4191 there.
And I will scatterH2219 toward every windH7307 all that are aboutH5439 him to helpH5828 him, and all his bandsH102; and I will draw outH7324 the swordH2719 afterH310 them.
And they shall knowH3045 that I am the LORDH3068, when I shall scatterH6327 them among the nationsH1471, and disperseH2219 them in the countriesH776.
But I will leaveH3498 a fewH4557 menH582 of them from the swordH2719, from the famineH7458, and from the pestilenceH1698; that they may declareH5608 all their abominationsH8441 among the heathenH1471 whither they comeH935; and they shall knowH3045 that I am the LORDH3068. {a few…: Heb. men of number}
SlayH2026 utterlyH4889 oldH2205 and youngH970, both maidsH1330, and little childrenH2945, and womenH802: but come not nearH5066 any manH376 upon whom is the markH8420; and beginH2490 at my sanctuaryH4720. Then they beganH2490 at the ancientH2205 menH582 which were beforeH6440 the houseH1004. {utterly: Heb. to destruction}
And I will spreadH6566 my netH7568 upon him, and he shall be takenH8610 in my snareH4686, and I will bringH935 him to BabylonH894, and will pleadH8199 with him there for his trespassH4603 that he hath trespassedH4604 against me.
And as for me also, mine eyeH5869 shall not spareH2347, neither will I have pityH2550, but I will recompenseH5414 their wayH1870 upon their headH7218.
And all his fugitivesH4015 with all his bandsH102 shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719, and they that remainH7604 shall be scatteredH6566 toward all windsH7307: and ye shall knowH3045 that I the LORDH3068 have spokenH1696 it.
For, lo, I raise upH6965 the ChaldeansH3778, that bitterH4751 and hastyH4116 nationH1471, which shall marchH1980 through the breadthH4800 of the landH776, to possessH3423 the dwellingplacesH4908 that are not theirs. {breadth: Heb. breadths}
They are terribleH366 and dreadfulH3372: their judgmentH4941 and their dignityH7613 shall proceedH3318 of themselves. {their judgment…: or, from them shall proceed the judgment of these, and the captivity of these}
Their horsesH5483 also are swifterH7043 than the leopardsH5246, and are more fierceH2300 than the eveningH6153 wolvesH2061: and their horsemenH6571 shall spreadH6335 themselves, and their horsemenH6571 shall comeH935 from farH7350; they shall flyH5774 as the eagleH5404 that hastethH2363 to eatH398. {fierce: Heb. sharp}
They shall comeH935 all for violenceH2555: their facesH6440 shall sup upH4041 as the east windH6921, and they shall gatherH622 the captivityH7628 as the sandH2344. {their…: or, the supping up of their faces, etc: or, their faces shall look (Heb. the opposition of their faces) toward the east}
And they shall scoffH7046 at the kingsH4428, and the princesH7336 shall be a scornH4890 unto them: they shall derideH7832 every strong holdH4013; for they shall heapH6651 dustH6083, and takeH3920 it.
