Versliste
What shall I render unto JehovahFor all his benefits toward me?
I will take the cup of salvation,And call upon the name of Jehovah.
I will pay my vows unto Jehovah,Yea, in the presence of all his people.
Precious in the sight of JehovahIs the death of his saints.
O Jehovah, truly I am thy servant:I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid;Thou hast loosed my bonds.
I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving,And will call upon the name of Jehovah.
I will pay my vows unto Jehovah,Yea, in the presence of all his people,
In the courts of Jehovah's house,In the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. {Hebrew: Hallelujah.}Praise ye Jehovah.
And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace-offerings, which one shall offer unto Jehovah.
If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour soaked.
With cakes of leavened bread he shall offer his oblation with the sacrifice of his peace-offerings for thanksgiving.
And of it he shall offer one out of each oblation for a heave-offering unto Jehovah; it shall be the priest's that sprinkleth the blood of the peace-offerings.
And the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace-offerings for thanksgiving shall be eaten on the day of his oblation; he shall not leave any of it until the morning.
But if the sacrifice of his oblation be a vow, or a freewill-offering, it shall be eaten on the day that he offereth his sacrifice; and on the morrow that which remaineth of it shall be eaten:
but that which remaineth of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burnt with fire.
And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace-offerings be eaten on the third day, it shall not be accepted, neither shall it be imputed unto him that offereth it: it shall be an abomination, and the soul that eateth of it shall bear his iniquity.
And the flesh that toucheth any unclean thing shall not be eaten; it shall be burnt with fire. And as for the flesh, every one that is clean shall eat thereof:
but the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace-offerings, that pertain unto Jehovah, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from his people.
And when any one shall touch any unclean thing, the uncleanness of man, or an unclean beast, or any unclean abomination, and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace-offerings, which pertain unto Jehovah, that soul shall be cut off from his people.
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a {Or, participation in}communion of the blood of Christ? The {Or, loaf}bread which we break, is it not a {Or, participation in}communion of the body of Christ?
I will come into thy house with burnt-offerings;I will pay thee my vows,
Which my lips uttered,And my mouth spake, when I was in distress.
Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked? saith the Lord Jehovah; and not rather that he should return from his way, and live?
Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
{Some ancient authorities omit And it was given…overcome them.}And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and there was given to him authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation.
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, Come {Some ancient authorities add and see.}.
And I saw, and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon had a bow; and there was given unto him a crown: and he came forth conquering, and to conquer.
And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, Come {Some ancient authorities add and see.}.
And another horse came forth, a red horse: and to him that sat thereon it was given to take {Some ancient authorities read the peace of the earth.}peace from the earth, and that they should slay one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, Come {Some ancient authorities add and see.}. And I saw, and behold, a black horse; and he that sat thereon had a balance in his hand.
And I heard as it were a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, {Or, A choenix (i.e. about a quart) of wheat for a schilling - implying great scarcity. Compare Ezekiel 4:16 f., 5:16}A measure of wheat for a {See marginal note on Matthew 18:28.}shilling, and three measures of barley for a {See marginal note on Matthew 18:28.}shilling; and the oil and the wine hurt thou not.
And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, Come {Some ancient authorities add and see.}.
And I saw, and behold, a pale horse: and he that sat upon him, his name was Death; and Hades followed with him. And there was given unto them authority over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with {Or, pestilence Compare chapter 2:23 margin.}death, and by the wild beasts of the earth.
And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of them that had been slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
and they cried with a great voice, saying, How long, O Master, the holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
And there was given them to each one a white robe; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little time, until their fellow-servants also and their brethren, who should be killed even as they were, should {Some ancient authorities read be fulfilled in number. 2 Esdr. 4:36.}have fulfilled their course.
And I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the whole moon became as blood;
and the stars of the heaven fell unto the earth, as a fig tree casteth her unripe figs when she is shaken of a great wind.
And the heaven was removed as a scroll when it is rolled up; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
And the kings of the earth, and the princes, and the {Or, military tribunes Greek: chiliarchs.}chief captains, and the rich, and the strong, and every bondman and freeman, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains;
and they say to the mountains and to the rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
for the great day of their wrath is come; and who is able to stand?
And I heard a voice from heaven saying, Write, Blessed are the dead who die {Or, in the Lord. From henceforth, yea, saith the Spirit}in the Lord from henceforth: yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; for their works follow with them.
Yea, and if I am {Greek: poured out as a drink-offering.}offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all:
Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer: behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; {Some ancient authorities read and may have.}and ye shall have {Greek: a tribulation of ten days.}tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.
Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears {See verse 9.}, let him hear.
Oh turn unto me, and {Or, be gracious unto}have mercy upon me;Give thy strength unto thy servant,And save the son of thy handmaid.
having been reminded of the unfeigned faith that is in thee; which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and, I am persuaded, in thee also.
But we were {Most of the ancient authorities read babes. Compare 1 Corinthians 14:20.}gentle in the midst of you, as when a nurse cherisheth her own children:
as ye know how we dealt with each one of you, as a father with his own children, exhorting you, and encouraging you, and testifying,
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them.
But thanks be to God, {Or, that ye were…but ye became}that, whereas ye were {Greek: bondservants.}servants of sin, ye became obedient from the heart to that {Or, pattern}form of teaching whereunto ye were delivered;
But if the sacrifice of his oblation be a vow, or a freewill-offering, it shall be eaten on the day that he offereth his sacrifice; and on the morrow that which remaineth of it shall be eaten:
Thy vows are upon me, O God:I will render thank-offerings unto thee.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death:Hast thou not delivered my feet from falling,That I may walk before GodIn the light of the { Or, life}living?
And Jehovah spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
Oh that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness,And for his wonderful works to the children of men!
For he satisfieth the longing soul,And the hungry soul he filleth with good.
Such as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,Being bound in affliction and iron,
Because they rebelled against the words of God,And contemned the counsel of the Most High:
Therefore he brought down their heart with labor;They fell down, and there was none to help.
Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble,And he saved them out of their distresses.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,And brake their bonds in sunder.
Oh that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness,And for his wonderful works to the children of men!
For he hath broken the gates of brass,And cut the bars of iron in sunder.
Fools because of {Hebrew: the way of their transgression.}their transgression,And because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
Their soul abhorreth all manner of food;And they draw near unto the gates of death.
Then they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble,And he saveth them out of their distresses.
He sendeth his word, and healeth them,And delivereth them from their {Hebrew: pits.}destructions.
Oh that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness,And for his wonderful works to the children of men!
And let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving,And declare his works with singing.
But unto the place which Jehovah your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come;
and thither ye shall bring your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill-offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock:
and there ye shall eat before Jehovah your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee.
Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes;
for ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.
But when ye go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which Jehovah your God causeth you to inherit, and he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;
then it shall come to pass that to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, thither shall ye bring all that I command you: your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto Jehovah.
And ye shall rejoice before Jehovah your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your men-servants, and your maid-servants, and the Levite that is within your gates, forasmuch as he hath no portion nor inheritance with you.
Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt-offerings in every place that thou seest;
but in the place which Jehovah shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt-offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.
Not unto us, O Jehovah, not unto us,But unto thy name give glory,For thy lovingkindness, and for thy truth's sake.
Wherefore should the nations say,Where is now their God?
But our God is in the heavens:He hath done whatsoever he pleased.
Their idols are silver and gold,The work of men's hands.
They have mouths, but they speak not;Eyes have they, but they see not;
They have ears, but they hear not;Noses have they, but they smell not;
They have hands, but they handle not;Feet have they, but they walk not;Neither speak they through their throat.
They that make them shall be like unto them;Yea, every one that trusteth in them.
O Israel, trust thou in Jehovah:He is their help and their shield.
O house of Aaron, trust ye in Jehovah:He is their help and their shield.
Ye that fear Jehovah, trust in Jehovah:He is their help and their shield.
Jehovah hath been mindful of us;He will bless us:He will bless the house of Israel;He will bless the house of Aaron.
He will bless them that fear Jehovah,Both small and great.
Jehovah increase you more and more,You and your children.
Blessed are ye of Jehovah,Who made heaven and earth.
The heavens are the heavens of Jehovah;But the earth hath he given to the children of men.
The dead praise not {Hebrew: Jah.}Jehovah,Neither any that go down into silence;
But we will bless {Hebrew: Jah.}JehovahFrom this time forth and for evermore. {Hebrew: Hallelujah.}Praise ye Jehovah.
I love Jehovah, because he hearethMy voice and my supplications.
Because he hath inclined his ear unto me,Therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
The cords of death compassed me,And the pains of Sheol {Or, found me}gat hold upon me:I found trouble and sorrow.
Then called I upon the name of Jehovah:O Jehovah, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
Gracious is Jehovah, and righteous;Yea, our God is merciful.
Jehovah preserveth the simple:I was brought low, and he saved me.
Return unto thy rest, O my soul;For Jehovah hath dealt bountifully with thee.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death,Mine eyes from tears,And my feet from falling.
I will walk before JehovahIn the {Hebrew: lands.}land of the living.
I {Or, believed, when I spake thus}believe, for I will speak:I was greatly afflicted:
I said in my {Or, alarm}haste,All men are liars.
