O Jehovah, thou God to whom vengeance belongeth,
Thou God to whom vengeance belongeth, shine forth.
 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth:
Render to the proud their desert.
 Jehovah, how long shall the wicked,
How long shall the wicked triumph?
 They prate, they speak arrogantly:
All the workers of iniquity boast themselves.
 They break in pieces thy people, O Jehovah,
And afflict thy heritage.
 They slay the widow and the sojourner,
And murder the fatherless.
 And they say, {Hebrew: Jah.}Jehovah will not see,
Neither will the God of Jacob consider.
 Consider, ye brutish among the people;
And ye fools, when will ye be wise?
 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear?
He that formed the eye, shall he not see?
 He that {Or, instructeth}chastiseth the nations, shall not he correct,
Even he that teacheth man knowledge?
 Jehovah knoweth the thoughts of man,
 {Or, For}That they are  {Hebrew: a breath.}vanity.
 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O {Hebrew: Jah.}Jehovah,
And teachest out of thy law;
 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity,
Until the pit be digged for the wicked.
 For Jehovah will not cast off his people,
Neither will he forsake his inheritance.
 For judgment shall return unto righteousness;
And all the upright in heart shall follow it.
 Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers?
Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
 Unless Jehovah had been my help,
My soul had soon dwelt in silence.
 When I said, My foot slippeth;
Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, held me up.
 In the multitude of my {Or, doubts}thoughts within me
Thy comforts delight my soul.
 Shall the {Or, seat}throne of wickedness have fellowship with thee,
Which frameth mischief by statute?
 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous,
And condemn the innocent blood.
 But Jehovah hath been my high tower,
And my God the rock of my refuge.
 And he hath brought upon them their own iniquity,
And will cut them off in their own wickedness;
Jehovah our God will cut them off.
Querverweise zu Psalm 94,15 Ps 94,15
Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth:Render to the proud their desert.
{Hebrew: Roll thy way upon Jehovah.}Commit thy way unto Jehovah;Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass.
And he will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light,And thy justice as the noonday.
{Or, Be still before (Hebrew: silent to) Jehovah}Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him:Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way,Because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Jehovah, how long shall the wicked,How long shall the wicked triumph?
Wait for Jehovah, and keep his way,And he will exalt thee to inherit the land:When the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
Jehovah ministereth judgment to the peoples:Judge me, O Jehovah, according to my righteousness, and to mine integrity {Or, be it unto me}that is in me.
Do good, O Jehovah, unto those that are good,And to them that are upright in their hearts.
Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish thou the righteous:For the righteous God trieth the minds and {Hebrew: reins}hearts.
But as for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways,Jehovah will lead them forth with the workers of iniquity.Peace be upon Israel.
Jehovah hath made himself known, he hath executed judgment: {Or, He snareth the wicked}The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. [Higgaion. Selah.
Yet shall the righteous hold on his way,And he that hath clean hands shall wax stronger and stronger.
So that men shall say, Verily there is {Hebrew: fruit.}a reward for the righteous:Verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth.
My foot hath held fast to his steps;His way have I kept, and turned not aside.
For the sceptre of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous;That the righteous put not forth their hands unto iniquity.
I have not gone back from the commandment of his lips;I have treasured up the words of his mouth {Or, more than my own law}more than my {Or, portion See Proverbs 30:8 }necessary food.
Vengeance is mine, and recompense,At the time when their foot shall slide:For the day of their calamity is at hand,And the things that are to come upon them shall make haste.
Be patient therefore, brethren, until the {Greek: presence.}coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until {Or, he}it receive the early and latter rain.
Be ye also patient; establish your hearts: for the {Greek: presence.}coming of the Lord is at hand.
Murmur not, brethren, one against another, that ye be not judged: behold, the judge standeth before the doors.
Take, brethren, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spake in the name of the Lord.
Behold, we call them blessed that endured: ye have heard of the {Or, endurance}patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord, how that the Lord is full of pity, and merciful.
For Jehovah will judge his people,And repent himself for his servants;When he seeth that their power is gone,And there is none remaining, shut up or left at large.
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest {Or, that not all are of us}that they all are not of us.
How much less when thou sayest {Or, thou beholdest him not! The cause is before him, therefore wait thou for him}thou beholdest him not,The cause is before him, and thou waitest for him!
I will bear the indignation of Jehovah, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.
Then shall ye return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not. {[Chapter 3:19 in Hebrew]}
But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness; but is longsuffering to you-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the {Or, heavenly bodies}elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be {The most ancient manuscripts read discovered.}burned up.
And they sing the song of Moses the {Greek: bondservant.}servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,Great and marvellous are thy works, O Lord God, the Almighty; righteous and true are thy ways, thou King of the {Many ancient authorities read nations. Jeremiah 10:7.}ages.
Who shall not fear, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy; for all the nations shall come and {See marginal note on chapter 3:9}worship before thee; for thy righteous acts have been made manifest.
