A Psalm of David.
Jehovah, who shall sojourn in thy {Hebrew: tent.}tabernacle?
Who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness,
And speaketh truth in his heart;
{Or, He slandereth}He that slandereth not with his tongue,
Nor doeth evil to his friend,
Nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbor;
In {Or, his…he}whose eyes a reprobate is despised,
But {Or, his…he}who honoreth them that fear Jehovah;
{Or, He sweareth}He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not;
{Or, He putteth}He that putteth not out his money to interest,
Nor taketh reward against the innocent.
He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

For Jehovah God is a sun and a shield:Jehovah will give grace and glory;No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to him.
What man is he that desireth life,And loveth many days, that he may see good?
He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; {Or, And a shield for &c.}He is a shield to them that walk in integrity;
but glory and honor and peace to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek:
Keep thy tongue from evil,And thy lips from speaking guile.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them.
For he said, Surely, they are my people, children that will not deal falsely: so he was their Saviour.
Whoso walketh uprightly shall be delivered;But {Or, he that walketh perversely in two ways}he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
These are the things that ye shall do: Speak ye every man the truth with his neighbor; {Hebrew: judge truth and the judgment of peace.}execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates;
He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of {Or, fraud}oppressions, that shaketh his hands from taking a bribe, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from looking upon evil:
If ye know that he is righteous, {Or, know ye}ye know that every one also that doeth righteousness is begotten of him.
and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith Jehovah.
{Or, O thou that art named the house of Jacob}Shall it be said, O house of Jacob, Is the Spirit of Jehovah {Or, impatient Hebrew: shortened.}straitened? are these his doings? Do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?
My little children, let no man lead you astray: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous:
Wherefore, putting away falsehood, {Zechariah 8:16.}speak ye truth each one with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.
And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have {Or, the authority over Compare chapter 6:8}the right to come to the tree of life, and may enter in by the {Greek: portals.}gates into the city.
lie not one to another; seeing that ye have put off the old man with his doings,
But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the {See marginal note on chapter 1:6.}gospel, I said unto Cephas before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest as do the Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, how compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
Without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loveth and {Or, doeth}maketh a lie.
But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.
he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk even as he walked.
