For the Chief Musician; with the {Or, wind instruments}Nehiloth. A Psalm of David.
Give ear to my words, O Jehovah,
Consider my meditation.
Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God;
For unto thee do I pray.
O Jehovah, in the morning shalt thou hear my voice;
In the morning will I order my prayer unto thee, and will keep watch.
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness:
{Or, The evil man}Evil shall not sojourn with thee.
{Or, Fools}The arrogant shall not stand in thy sight:
Thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
Thou wilt destroy them that speak lies:
Jehovah abhorreth the blood-thirsty and deceitful man.
But as for me, in the abundance of thy lovingkindness will I come into thy house:
In thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
Lead me, O Jehovah, in thy righteousness because of {Or, them that lie in wait for me}mine enemies;
Make thy way {Or, level}straight before my face.
For there is no {Or, stedfastness}faithfulness in their mouth;
Their inward part is {Or, a yawning gulf}very wickedness;
Their throat is an open sepulchre;
They {Hebrew: make smooth with tongue}flatter with their tongue.
Hold them guilty, O God;
Let them fall {Or, from their counsels}by their own counsels;
Thrust them out in the multitude of their transgressions;
For they have rebelled against thee.
{Or, So shall all those…rejoice. They shall shout…and thou shall defend them: They shall also…shall be joyful in thee}But let all those that take refuge in thee rejoice,
Let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them:
Let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
For thou wilt bless the righteous;
O Jehovah, thou wilt compass him with favor as with a shield.
Querverweise zu Psalm 5,9 Ps 5,9
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of Jehovah. {Or, Transgression saith to the wicked}The transgression of the wicked {Or, uttereth its oracle}saith within my heart,There is no fear of God before his eyes.
For {Or, it (or, he) flattereth him in his eyes}he flattereth himself in his own eyes, {Or, Until his iniquity be found and be hated Hebrew: Concerning the finding out of his iniquity and hating it.}That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.
The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit:He hath ceased to be wise and to do good.
He deviseth iniquity upon his bed;He setteth himself in a way that is not good;He abhorreth not evil.
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts;And in the hidden part thou wilt make me to know wisdom.
Woe unto you! for ye are as the tombs which appear not, and the men that walk over them know it not.
They speak falsehood every one with his neighbor:With flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak.
Thy tongue deviseth very wickedness,Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
Nay, in heart ye work wickedness;Ye weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.
{Psalm 5:9}Their throat is an open sepulchre;With their tongues they have used deceit: {Psalm 140:3}The poison of asps is under their lips:
Jehovah will cut off all flattering lips,The tongue that speaketh great things;
The wicked are estranged from the womb:They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.
They only consult to thrust him down from his dignity;They delight in lies;They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. [Selah
Let me not, I pray you, respect any man's person;Neither will I give flattering titles unto any man.
They only consult to thrust him down from his dignity;They delight in lies;They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. [Selah
They search out iniquities; {Or, as otherwise read. They have accomplished (or, have hidden)}We have accomplished, say they, a diligent search:And the inward thought and the heart of every one is deep.
For I know not to give flattering titles;Else would my Maker soon take me away.
Surely men of low degree are {Hebrew: a breath.}vanity, and men of high degree are a lie:In the balances they will go up;They are together lighter than {Hebrew: a breath.}vanity.
O Jerusalem, wash thy heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thine evil thoughts lodge within thee?
A man that flattereth his neighborSpreadeth a net for his steps.
{Hebrew: Hallelujah.}Praise ye Jehovah.I will give thanks unto Jehovah with my whole heart,In the council of the upright, and in the congregation.
The works of Jehovah are great,Sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
His work is honor and majesty;And his righteousness endureth for ever.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?
For neither at any time were we found using words of flattery, as ye know, nor a cloak of covetousness, God is witness;
And they bend their tongue, as it were their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for {Or, faithfulness}truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith Jehovah.
Take ye heed every one of his neighbor, and trust ye not in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.
And they will {Or, mock}deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.
Thy habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith Jehovah.
For from within, out of the heart of men, {Greek: thoughts that are evil.}evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,
For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
covetings, wickednesses, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, railing, pride, foolishness:
being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
backbiters, {Or, haters of God}hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, unmerciful:
And the Lord said unto him, Now ye the Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter; but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.
{Psalm 5:9}Their throat is an open sepulchre;With their tongues they have used deceit: {Psalm 140:3}The poison of asps is under their lips:
