For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint:
Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
Hide me from the secret counsel of evil-doers,
From the {Or, throng}tumult of the workers of iniquity;
Who have whet their tongue like a sword,
And have aimed their arrows, even bitter words,
That they may shoot in secret places at the perfect:
Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
They encourage themselves in an evil purpose;
They commune of laying snares privily;
They say, Who will see them?
They search out iniquities;
{Or, as otherwise read. They have accomplished (or, have hidden)}We have accomplished, say they, a diligent search:
And the inward thought and the heart of every one is deep.
But God will shoot at them;
With an arrow suddenly shall they be wounded.
So {Or, shall they against whom their tongue was make them to stumble}they shall be made to stumble, their own tongue being against them:
All that see them shall {Or, flee away}wag the head.
And all men shall fear;
And they shall declare the work of God,
And shall wisely consider of his doing.
The righteous shall be glad in Jehovah, and shall take refuge in him;
And all the upright in heart shall glory.
Querverweise zu Psalm 64,6 Ps 64,6
{Or, malicious See Exodus 23:1}Unrighteous witnesses rise up;They ask me of things that I know not.
For there is no {Or, stedfastness}faithfulness in their mouth;Their inward part is {Or, a yawning gulf}very wickedness;Their throat is an open sepulchre;They {Hebrew: make smooth with tongue}flatter with their tongue.
Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who {Or, was set over}stood by the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water;But a man of understanding will draw it out.
And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearkenest thou to men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?
Woe unto them that hide deep their counsel from Jehovah, and whose works are in the dark, and that say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there are many servants now-a-days that break away every man from his master.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?
Then the presidents and the satraps sought to find occasion against Daniel as touching the kingdom; but they could find no occasion nor fault, forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
I, Jehovah, search the mind, I try the {Hebrew: reins.}heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.
Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.
Now the chief priests and the whole council sought false witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death;
Pilate therefore went out unto them, and saith, What accusation bring ye against this man?
They answered and said unto him, If this man were not an evildoer, we should not have delivered him up unto thee.
The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by that law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
