The wordH1697 which came unto JeremiahH3414 from the LORDH3068, when NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and all his armyH2428, and all the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776 of his dominionH3027+H4475, and all the peopleH5971, foughtH3898 against JerusalemH3389, and against all the citiesH5892 thereof, sayingH559, {of his…: Heb. the dominion of his hand}
Thus saithH559 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; GoH1980 and speakH559 to ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and tellH559 him, Thus saithH559 the LORDH3068; Behold, I will giveH5414 this cityH5892 into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and he shall burnH8313 it with fireH784:
And thou shalt not escape outH4422 of his handH3027, but shalt surelyH8610 be takenH8610, and deliveredH5414 into his handH3027; and thine eyesH5869 shall beholdH7200 the eyesH5869 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and he shall speakH1696 with thee mouthH6310 to mouthH6310, and thou shalt goH935 to BabylonH894. {he shall…: Heb. his mouth shall speak to thy mouth}
Yet hearH8085 the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, O ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063; Thus saithH559 the LORDH3068 of thee, Thou shalt not dieH4191 by the swordH2719:
But thou shalt dieH4191 in peaceH7965: and with the burningsH4955 of thy fathersH1, the formerH7223 kingsH4428 which were beforeH6440 thee, so shall they burnH8313 odours for thee; and they will lamentH5594 thee, saying, AhH1945 lordH113! for I have pronouncedH1696 the wordH1697, saithH5002 the LORDH3068.
Then JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030 spakeH1696 all these wordsH1697 unto ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 in JerusalemH3389,
When the kingH4428 of Babylon'sH894 armyH2428 foughtH3898 against JerusalemH3389, and against all the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 that were leftH3498, against LachishH3923, and against AzekahH5825: for these defencedH4013 citiesH5892 remainedH7604 of the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063.
This is the wordH1697 that came unto JeremiahH3414 from the LORDH3068, afterH310 that the kingH4428 ZedekiahH6667 had madeH3772 a covenantH1285 with all the peopleH5971 which were at JerusalemH3389, to proclaimH7121 libertyH1865 unto them;
That every manH376 should let his manservantH5650, and every manH376 his maidservantH8198, being an HebrewH5680 or an HebrewessH5680, goH7971 freeH2670; that none should serveH5647 himself of them, to wit, of a JewH3064 his brotherH251.
Now when all the princesH8269, and all the peopleH5971, which had enteredH935 into the covenantH1285, heardH8085 that every oneH376 should let his manservantH5650, and every oneH376 his maidservantH8198, goH7971 freeH2670, that none should serveH5647 themselves of them any more, then they obeyedH8085, and let them goH7971.
But afterwardH310 they turnedH7725, and caused the servantsH5650 and the handmaidsH8198, whom they had let goH7971 freeH2670, to returnH7725, and brought them into subjectionH3533+H3533 for servantsH5650 and for handmaidsH8198.
Therefore the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came to JeremiahH3414 from the LORDH3068, sayingH559,
Thus saithH559 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; I madeH3772 a covenantH1285 with your fathersH1 in the dayH3117 that I brought them forthH3318 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, out of the houseH1004 of bondmenH5650, sayingH559,
At the endH7093 of sevenH7651 yearsH8141 let ye goH7971 every manH376 his brotherH251 an HebrewH5680, which hath been soldH4376 unto thee; and when he hath servedH5647 thee sixH8337 yearsH8141, thou shalt let him goH7971 freeH2670 from thee: but your fathersH1 hearkenedH8085 not unto me, neither inclinedH5186 their earH241. {hath been…: or, hath sold himself}
And ye were nowH3117 turnedH7725, and had doneH6213 rightH3477 in my sightH5869, in proclaimingH7121 libertyH1865 every manH376 to his neighbourH7453; and ye had madeH3772 a covenantH1285 beforeH6440 me in the houseH1004 which is calledH7121 by my nameH8034: {now: Heb. to day} {which…: Heb. whereupon my name is called}
But ye turnedH7725 and pollutedH2490 my nameH8034, and caused every manH376 his servantH5650, and every manH376 his handmaidH8198, whom ye had setH7971 at libertyH2670 at their pleasureH5315, to returnH7725, and brought them into subjectionH3533, to be unto you for servantsH5650 and for handmaidsH8198.
Therefore thus saithH559 the LORDH3068; Ye have not hearkenedH8085 unto me, in proclaimingH7121 libertyH1865, every oneH376 to his brotherH251, and every manH376 to his neighbourH7453: behold, I proclaimH7121 a libertyH1865 for you, saithH5002 the LORDH3068, to the swordH2719, to the pestilenceH1698, and to the famineH7458; and I will makeH5414 you to be removedH2189+H2113 into all the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776. {to be…: Heb. for a removing}
And I will giveH5414 the menH582 that have transgressedH5674 my covenantH1285, which have not performedH6965 the wordsH1697 of the covenantH1285 which they had madeH3772 beforeH6440 me, when they cutH3772 the calfH5695 in twainH8147, and passedH5674 between the partsH1335 thereof,
The princesH8269 of JudahH3063, and the princesH8269 of JerusalemH3389, the eunuchsH5631, and the priestsH3548, and all the peopleH5971 of the landH776, which passedH5674 between the partsH1335 of the calfH5695;
I will even giveH5414 them into the handH3027 of their enemiesH341, and into the handH3027 of them that seekH1245 their lifeH5315: and their dead bodiesH5038 shall be for meatH3978 unto the fowlsH5775 of the heavenH8064, and to the beastsH929 of the earthH776.
And ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 and his princesH8269 will I giveH5414 into the handH3027 of their enemiesH341, and into the handH3027 of them that seekH1245 their lifeH5315, and into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of Babylon'sH894 armyH2428, which are gone upH5927 from you.
Behold, I will commandH6680, saithH5002 the LORDH3068, and cause them to returnH7725 to this cityH5892; and they shall fightH3898 against it, and takeH3920 it, and burnH8313 it with fireH784: and I will makeH5414 the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 a desolationH8077 without an inhabitantH3427.

Then Pharaoh'sH6547 armyH2428 was come forthH3318 out of EgyptH4714: and when the ChaldeansH3778 that besiegedH6696 JerusalemH3389 heardH8085 tidingsH8088 of them, they departedH5927 from JerusalemH3389.
Then PharaohH6547 calledH7121 for MosesH4872 and AaronH175, and saidH559, IntreatH6279 the LORDH3068, that he may take awayH5493 the frogsH6854 from me, and from my peopleH5971; and I will let the peopleH5971 goH7971, that they may do sacrificeH2076 unto the LORDH3068.
But when PharaohH6547 sawH7200 that there was respiteH7309, he hardenedH3513 his heartH3820, and hearkenedH8085 not unto them; as the LORDH3068 had saidH1696.
IntreatH6279 the LORDH3068 (for it is enoughH7227) that there be no more mightyH430 thunderingsH6963 and hailH1259; and I will let you goH7971, and ye shall stayH5975 no longerH3254. {mighty…: Heb. voices of God}
And when PharaohH6547 sawH7200 that the rainH4306 and the hailH1259 and the thundersH6963 were ceasedH2308, he sinnedH2398 yet moreH3254, and hardenedH3513 his heartH3820, he and his servantsH5650.
And the heartH3820 of PharaohH6547 was hardenedH2388, neither would he let the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 goH7971; as the LORDH3068 had spokenH1696 byH3027 MosesH4872. {by Moses: Heb. by the hand of Moses}
Now therefore forgiveH5375, I pray thee, my sinH2403 only this onceH6471, and intreatH6279 the LORDH3068 your GodH430, that he may take awayH5493 from me this deathH4194 only.
And he went outH3318 from PharaohH6547, and intreatedH6279 the LORDH3068.
And the LORDH3068 turnedH2015 a mightyH3966 strongH2389 westH3220 windH7307, which took awayH5375 the locustsH697, and castH8628 them into the RedH5488 seaH3220; there remainedH7604 not oneH259 locustH697 in all the coastsH1366 of EgyptH4714. {cast: Heb. fastened}
But the LORDH3068 hardenedH2388 Pharaoh'sH6547 heartH3820, so that he would not let the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 goH7971.
For PharaohH6547 will sayH559 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, They are entangledH943 in the landH776, the wildernessH4057 hath shut them inH5462.
And I will hardenH2388 Pharaoh'sH6547 heartH3820, that he shall followH7291 afterH310 them; and I will be honouredH3513 upon PharaohH6547, and upon all his hostH2428; that the EgyptiansH4714 may knowH3045 that I am the LORDH3068. And they didH6213 so.
And it was toldH5046 the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 that the peopleH5971 fledH1272: and the heartH3824 of PharaohH6547 and of his servantsH5650 was turnedH2015 against the peopleH5971, and they saidH559, Why have we doneH6213 this, that we have let IsraelH3478 goH7971 from servingH5647 us?
And he made readyH631 his chariotH7393, and tookH3947 his peopleH5971 with him:
And he tookH3947 sixH8337 hundredH3967 chosenH977 chariotsH7393, and all the chariotsH7393 of EgyptH4714, and captainsH7991 over every one of them.
And the LORDH3068 hardenedH2388 the heartH3820 of PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, and he pursuedH7291 afterH310 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478: and the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 went outH3318 with an highH7311 handH3027.
But the EgyptiansH4714 pursuedH7291 afterH310 them, all the horsesH5483 and chariotsH7393 of PharaohH6547, and his horsemenH6571, and his armyH2428, and overtookH5381 them encampingH2583 by the seaH3220, beside PihahirothH6367, beforeH6440 BaalzephonH1189.
And SaulH7586 hearkenedH8085 unto the voiceH6963 of JonathanH3083: and SaulH7586 swareH7650, As the LORDH3068 livethH2416, he shall notH518 be slainH4191.
And JonathanH3083 calledH7121 DavidH1732, and JonathanH3083 shewedH5046 him all those thingsH1697. And JonathanH3083 broughtH935 DavidH1732 to SaulH7586, and he was in his presenceH6440, as in times pastH865+H8032. {in times…: Heb. yesterday, third day}
And there was warH4421 againH3254: and DavidH1732 went outH3318, and foughtH3898 with the PhilistinesH6430, and slewH5221 them with a greatH1419 slaughterH4347; and they fledH5127 fromH6440 him. {him: Heb. his face}
And the evilH7451 spiritH7307 from the LORDH3068 was upon SaulH7586, as he satH3427 in his houseH1004 with his javelinH2595 in his handH3027: and DavidH1732 playedH5059 with his handH3027.
And SaulH7586 soughtH1245 to smiteH5221 DavidH1732 even to the wallH7023 with the javelinH2595; but he slipped awayH6362 out of Saul'sH7586 presenceH6440, and he smoteH5221 the javelinH2595 into the wallH7023: and DavidH1732 fledH5127, and escapedH4422 that nightH3915.
SaulH7586 also sentH7971 messengersH4397 unto David'sH1732 houseH1004, to watchH8104 him, and to slayH4191 him in the morningH1242: and MichalH4324 David'sH1732 wifeH802 toldH5046 him, sayingH559, If thou saveH4422 not thy lifeH5315 to nightH3915, to morrowH4279 thou shalt be slainH4191.
For if a manH376 findH4672 his enemyH341, will he let him goH7971 wellH2896 awayH1870? wherefore the LORDH3068 rewardH7999 thee goodH2896 for that thou hast doneH6213 unto me this dayH3117.
Then saidH559 SaulH7586, I have sinnedH2398: returnH7725, my sonH1121 DavidH1732: for I will no more do thee harmH7489, because my soulH5315 was preciousH3365 in thine eyesH5869 this dayH3117: behold, I have played the foolH5528, and have erredH7686 exceedinglyH7235+H3966.
The wordsH1697 of his mouthH6310 are iniquityH205 and deceitH4820: he hath left offH2308 to be wiseH7919, and to do goodH3190.
When he slewH2026 them, then they soughtH1875 him: and they returnedH7725 and enquired earlyH7836 after GodH410.
And they rememberedH2142 that GodH430 was their rockH6697, and the highH5945 GodH410 their redeemerH1350.
Nevertheless they did flatterH6601 him with their mouthH6310, and they liedH3576 unto him with their tonguesH3956.
As for such as turn asideH5186 unto their crooked waysH6128, the LORDH3068 shall lead them forthH3212 with the workersH6466 of iniquityH205: but peaceH7965 shall be upon IsraelH3478.
As a dogH3611 returnethH7725 to his vomitH6892, so a foolH3684 returnethH8138 to his follyH200. {returneth to his folly: Heb. iterateth his folly}
Because sentenceH6599 against an evilH7451 workH4639 is not executedH6213 speedilyH4120, therefore the heartH3820 of the sonsH1121 of menH120 is fully setH4390 in them to doH6213 evilH7451.
O EphraimH669, what shall I doH6213 unto thee? O JudahH3063, what shall I doH6213 unto thee? for your goodnessH2617 is as a morningH1242 cloudH6051, and as the earlyH7925 dewH2919 it goeth awayH1980. {goodness: or, mercy, or, kindness}
They returnH7725, but not to the most HighH5920: they are like a deceitfulH7423 bowH7198: their princesH8269 shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719 for the rageH2195 of their tongueH3956: thisH2097 shall be their derisionH3933 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714.
And them that are turned backH5472 fromH310 the LORDH3068; and those that have not soughtH1245 the LORDH3068, nor enquiredH1875 for him.
WhenG3752 the uncleanG169 spiritG4151 is goneG1831 out ofG575 a manG444, he walkethG1330 throughG1223 dryG504 placesG5117, seekingG2212 restG372, andG2532 findethG2147 noneG3756.
ThenG5119 he saithG3004, I will returnG1994 intoG1519 myG3450 houseG3624 from whenceG3606 I came outG1831; andG2532 when he is comeG2064, he findethG2147 it emptyG4980, sweptG4563, andG2532 garnishedG2885.
ThenG5119 goeth heG4198, andG2532 takethG3880 withG3326 himselfG1438 sevenG2033 otherG2087 spiritsG4151 more wickedG4191 than himselfG1438, andG2532 they enter inG1525 and dwellG2730 thereG1563: andG2532 the lastG2078 state of thatG1565 manG444 isG1096 worse thanG5501 the firstG4413. Even soG3779 shall it beG2071 alsoG2532 unto thisG5026 wickedG4190 generationG1074.
OrG2228 despisest thouG2706 the richesG4149 of hisG846 goodnessG5544 andG2532 forbearanceG463 andG2532 longsufferingG3115; not knowingG50 thatG3754 the goodnessG5543 of GodG2316 leadethG71 theeG4571 toG1519 repentanceG3341?
ButG1161 afterG2596 thyG4675 hardnessG4643 andG2532 impenitentG279 heartG2588 treasurest upG2343 unto thyselfG4572 wrathG3709 againstG1722 the dayG2250 of wrathG3709 andG2532 revelationG602 of the righteous judgmentG1341 of GodG2316;
ForG1063 ifG1487 after they have escapedG668 the pollutionsG3393 of the worldG2889 throughG1722 the knowledgeG1922 of the LordG2962 andG2532 SaviourG4990 JesusG2424 ChristG5547, they areG1707 againG3825 entangledG1707 thereinG5125, andG1161 overcomeG1096+G2274, the latter endG2078 is worseG5501 with themG846 than the beginningG4413.
ForG1063 it had beenG2258 betterG2909 for themG846 notG3361 to have knownG1921 the wayG3598 of righteousnessG1343, thanG2228, after they have knownG1921 it, to turnG1994 fromG1537 the holyG40 commandmentG1785 deliveredG3860 unto themG846.
ButG1161 it is happenedG4819 unto themG846 according toG3588 the trueG227 proverbG3942, The dogG2965 is turnedG1994 toG1909 his ownG2398 vomitG1829 againG1994; andG2532 the sowG5300 that was washedG3068 toG1519 her wallowingG2946 in the mireG1004.
