John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from him who is and who was and {Or, who cometh}who is to come; and from the seven Spirits that are before his throne;
And when he opened the seventh seal, there followed a silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.
And I saw the seven angels that stand before God; and there were given unto them seven trumpets.
And another angel came and stood {Or, at}over the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should {Greek: give.}add it unto the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
And the smoke of the incense, {Or, for}with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel's hand.
And the angel {Greek: hath taken.}taketh the censer; and he filled it with the fire of the altar, and cast it {Or, into}upon the earth: and there followed thunders, and voices, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
And the seven angels that had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
And the first sounded, and there followed hail and fire, mingled with blood, and they were cast {Or, into}upon the earth: and the third part of the earth was burnt up, and the third part of the trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
and there died the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, even they that had life; and the third part of the ships was destroyed.
And the third angel sounded, and there fell from heaven a great star, burning as a torch, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of the waters;
and the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.
And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; that the third part of them should be darkened, and the day should not shine for the third part of it, and the night in like manner.
And I saw, and I heard {Greek: one eagle.}an eagle, flying in mid heaven, saying with a great voice, Woe, woe, woe, for them that dwell on the earth, by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, who are yet to sound.
And the four living creatures, having each one of them six wings, are full of eyes round about and within: and they have no rest day and night, saying,Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and {Or, who cometh}who is to come.
And Abraham called the name of that place {That is, Jehovah will see, or provide.}Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of Jehovah {Or, he shall be seen}it shall be provided.
It shall be eighteen thousand reeds round about: and the name of the city from that day shall be, {Hebrew: Jehovah-shammah.}Jehovah is there.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but {Or, through}by me.
A Psalm of David.Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want.
and he said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of Jehovah thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his eyes, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon thee, which I have put upon the Egyptians: for I am Jehovah that healeth thee.
In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name whereby he shall be called: {Or, Jehovah is our righteousness}Jehovah our righteousness.
In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely; and this is the name whereby she shall be called: Jehovah our righteousness.
Then Gideon built an altar there unto Jehovah, and called it {That is, Jehovah is peace.}Jehovah-shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it {That is, Jehovah is my banner.}Jehovah-nissi;
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a javelin: but I come to thee in the name of Jehovah of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast {Or, reproached}defied.
And when it rested, he said, Return, O Jehovah, unto the ten thousands of the thousands of Israel.
Lift up your heads, O ye gates;Yea, lift them up, ye {Or ancient,}everlasting doors:And the King of glory will come in.
Why standest thou afar off, O Jehovah?Why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
In the pride of the wicked {Or, he doth hotly pursue the poor}the poor {Hebrew: is set on fire.}is hotly pursued; {Or, They are taken}Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived.
For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire,And {Or, blesseth the covetous, but contemneth &c.}the covetous renounceth, yea, {Or, revileth}contemneth Jehovah.
The wicked, in the pride of his countenance, saith, He will not require it.All his thoughts are, There is no God.
His ways are {Or, grievous}firm at all times;Thy judgments are far above out of his sight:As for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them.
He saith in his heart, I shall not be moved;To all generations I shall not be in adversity.
His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and {Or, fraud}oppression:Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.
He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages;In the secret places doth he murder the innocent;His eyes are privily set against the {Or, hapless}helpless.
He lurketh in secret as a lion in his covert;He lieth in wait to catch the poor:He doth catch the poor, when he draweth him in his net.
{Another reading is, And being crushed.}He croucheth, he boweth down,And the {Or, hapless}helpless fall by his strong ones.
He saith in his heart, God hath forgotten;He hideth his face; he will never see it.
Arise, O Jehovah; O God, lift up thy hand:Forget not the {Or, meek.}poor.
Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God,And say in his heart, Thou wilt not require it?
Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest {Or, travail and grief}mischief and spite, {Or, to take it into thy hand}to requite it with thy hand:The {Or, hapless}helpless committeth himself unto thee;Thou hast been the helper of the fatherless.
Break thou the arm of the wicked;And as for the evil man, seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
Jehovah is King for ever and ever:The {Or, heathen}nations are perished out of his land.
Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek:Thou wilt {Or, establish}prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear;
To judge the fatherless and the oppressed,That man who is of the earth may be terrible no more.
And he that blasphemeth the name of Jehovah, he shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the sojourner, as the home-born, when he blasphemeth the name of Jehovah, shall be put to death.
These are that Aaron and Moses, to whom Jehovah said, Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their hosts.
And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day throughout your generations by an ordinance for ever.
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a javelin: but I come to thee in the name of Jehovah of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast {Or, reproached}defied.
Lift up your eyes on high, {Or, and see: who hath created these? he that &c.}and see who hath created these, that bringeth out their host by number; he calleth them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and for that he is strong in power, not one is lacking.
I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens; and all their host have I commanded.
From heaven fought the stars,From their courses they fought against Sisera.
When the morning stars sang together,And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
And Micaiah said, Therefore hear thou the word of Jehovah: I saw Jehovah sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
And Elisha prayed, and said, Jehovah, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And Jehovah opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
And he said, Nay; but as prince of the host of Jehovah am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?
And the prince of Jehovah's host said unto Joshua, Put off thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
Thou art Jehovah, even thou alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all things that are thereon, the seas and all that is in them, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
Bless Jehovah, all ye his hosts,Ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
Praise ye him, all his angels:Praise ye him, all his host.
