For the Chief Musician. A Song, a Psalm.
Make a joyful noise unto God, all the earth:
Sing forth the glory of his name:
Make his praise glorious.
Say unto God, How terrible are thy works!
Through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies {Or, yield feigned obedience Hebrew: lie.}submit themselves unto thee.
All the earth shall worship thee,
And shall sing unto thee;
They shall sing to thy name.
[Selah
Come, and see the works of God;
He is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.
He turned the sea into dry land;
They went through the river on foot:
There {Or, let us rejoice}did we rejoice in him.
He ruleth by his might for ever;
His eyes observe the nations:
Let not the rebellious exalt themselves. [Selah
Oh bless our God, ye peoples,
And make the voice of his praise to be heard;
Who {Hebrew: putteth.}holdeth our soul in life,
And suffereth not our feet to be moved.
For thou, O God, hast proved us:
Thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.
Thou broughtest us into the net;
Thou layedst a sore burden upon our loins.
Thou didst cause men to ride over our heads;
We went through fire and through water;
But thou broughtest us out into {Hebrew: abundance.}a wealthy place.
I will come into thy house with burnt-offerings;
I will pay thee my vows,
Which my lips uttered,
And my mouth spake, when I was in distress.
I will offer unto thee burnt-offerings of fatlings,
With the incense of rams;
I will offer bullocks with goats.
[Selah
Come, and hear, all ye that fear God,
And I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
I cried unto him with my mouth,
And {Or, as otherwise read. high praise was under my tongue}he was extolled with my tongue.
If I {Or, had regarded}regard iniquity in my heart,
The Lord {Or, would}will not hear:
But verily God hath heard;
He hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
Blessed be God,
Who hath not turned away my prayer,
Nor his lovingkindness from me.
Querverweise zu Psalm 66,6 Ps 66,6
He clave the sea, and caused them to pass through;And he made the waters to stand as a heap.
And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over the Jordan, the priests that bare the ark of the covenant being before the people;
And the waters covered their adversaries;There was not one of them left.
Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake,That he might make his mighty power to be known.
He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up:So he led them through the depths, as through a {Or, pasture-land}wilderness.
And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them,And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
that the waters which came down from above stood, and rose up in one heap, a great way {Another reading is, off from.}off, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those that went down toward the sea of the Arabah, even the Salt Sea, were wholly cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.
Then believed they his words;They sang his praise.
{Hebrew: He founded the earth upon its bases.}Who laid the foundations of the earth,That it should not be moved for ever.
Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a vesture;The waters stood above the mountains.
At thy rebuke they fled;At the voice of thy thunder they hasted away
Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto Jehovah, and spake, saying,I will sing unto Jehovah, for he {Or, is highly exalted}hath triumphed gloriously:The horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
{Hebrew: Jah.}Jehovah is my strength and song,And he is become my salvation:This is my God, and I will praise him;My father's God, and I will exalt him.
Jehovah is a man of war:Jehovah is his name.
Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea;And his chosen captains are sunk in the Red Sea.
The deeps cover them:They went down into the depths like a stone.
Thy right hand, O Jehovah, is glorious in power,Thy right hand, O Jehovah, dasheth in pieces the enemy.
And in the greatness of thine excellency thou overthrowest them that rise up against thee:Thou sendest forth thy wrath, it consumeth them as stubble.
And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were piled up,The floods stood upright as a heap;The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea.
The enemy said,I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil;My desire shall be satisfied upon them;I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.
Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them:They sank as lead in the mighty waters.
Who is like unto thee, O Jehovah, among the gods?Who is like thee, glorious in holiness,Fearful in praises, doing wonders?
Thou stretchedst out thy right hand,The earth swallowed them.
Thou in thy lovingkindness hast led the people that thou hast redeemed:Thou hast guided them in thy strength to thy holy habitation.
The peoples have heard, they tremble:Pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia.
Then were the chiefs of Edom dismayed;The {Hebrew: rams.}mighty men of Moab, trembling taketh hold upon them:All the inhabitants of Canaan are melted away.
Terror and dread falleth upon them;By the greatness of thine arm they are as still as a stone;Till thy people pass over, O Jehovah,Till the people pass over that thou hast {Hebrew: gotten.}purchased.
Thou wilt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance,The place, O Jehovah, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in,The sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.
Jehovah shall reign for ever and ever.
For the horses of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and Jehovah brought back the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel walked on dry land in the midst of the sea.
And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
And Miriam answered them,Sing ye to Jehovah, for he {Or, is highly exalted}hath triumphed gloriously;The horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
To him that divided the Red Sea in sunder;For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;
And I saw as it were a {Or, glassy sea}sea of glass mingled with fire; and them that come off victorious from the beast, and from his image, and from the number of his name, standing {Or, upon}by the {Or, glassy sea}sea of glass, having harps of God.
And made Israel to pass through the midst of it;For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;
And they sing the song of Moses the {Greek: bondservant.}servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,Great and marvellous are thy works, O Lord God, the Almighty; righteous and true are thy ways, thou King of the {Many ancient authorities read nations. Jeremiah 10:7.}ages.
And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and Jehovah caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all the night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
that led them through the depths, as a horse in the wilderness, so that they stumbled not?
As the cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of Jehovah caused them to rest; so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.
