For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of Jehovah.
{Or, Transgression saith to the wicked}The transgression of the wicked {Or, uttereth its oracle}saith within my heart,
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
For {Or, it (or, he) flattereth him in his eyes}he flattereth himself in his own eyes,
{Or, Until his iniquity be found and be hated Hebrew: Concerning the finding out of his iniquity and hating it.}That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.
The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit:
He hath ceased to be wise and to do good.
He deviseth iniquity upon his bed;
He setteth himself in a way that is not good;
He abhorreth not evil.
Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, is in the heavens;
Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the skies.
Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God;
Thy judgments are a great deep:
O Jehovah, thou preservest man and beast.
How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God!
And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.
They shall be {Hebrew: watered.}abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house;
And thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
For with thee is the fountain of life:
In thy light shall we see light.
Oh continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee,
And thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There are the workers of iniquity fallen:
They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.
Querverweise zu Psalm 36,12 Ps 36,12
Jehovah hath made himself known, he hath executed judgment: {Or, He snareth the wicked}The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. [Higgaion. Selah.
Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment,Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
But thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction:Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days;But I will trust in thee.
I will smite them through, so that they shall not be able to rise:They shall fall under my feet.
The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance:He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked;
and thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise again because of the evil that I will bring upon her; and they shall be weary.Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.
So that men shall say, Verily there is {Hebrew: fruit.}a reward for the righteous:Verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth.
But God will shoot at them;With an arrow suddenly shall they be wounded.
So {Or, shall they against whom their tongue was make them to stumble}they shall be made to stumble, their own tongue being against them:All that see them shall {Or, flee away}wag the head.
And all men shall fear;And they shall declare the work of God,And shall wisely consider of his doing.
So let all thine enemies perish, O Jehovah:But let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might.And the land had rest forty years.
rendering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the {Greek: good tidings: and so elsewhere. See marginal note on Matthew 4:23.}gospel of our Lord Jesus:
who shall suffer punishment, even eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,
Who shall not fear, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy; for all the nations shall come and {See marginal note on chapter 3:9}worship before thee; for thy righteous acts have been made manifest.
After these things I heard as it were a great voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,Hallelujah; Salvation, and glory, and power, belong to our God:
for true and righteous are his judgments; for he hath judged the great harlot, her that corrupted the earth with her fornication, and he hath avenged the blood of his {Greek: bondservants.}servants at her hand.
And a second time they {Greek: have said.}say, Hallelujah. And her smoke goeth up {Greek: unto the ages of the ages.}for ever and ever.
And the four and twenty elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshipped God that sitteth on the throne, saying, Amen; Hallelujah.
And a voice came forth from the throne, saying,Give praise to our God, all ye his {Greek: bondservants.}servants, ye that fear him, the small and the great.
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunders, saying,Hallelujah: for the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigneth.
