For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of Jehovah.
{Or, Transgression saith to the wicked}The transgression of the wicked {Or, uttereth its oracle}saith within my heart,
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
For {Or, it (or, he) flattereth him in his eyes}he flattereth himself in his own eyes,
{Or, Until his iniquity be found and be hated Hebrew: Concerning the finding out of his iniquity and hating it.}That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.
The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit:
He hath ceased to be wise and to do good.
He deviseth iniquity upon his bed;
He setteth himself in a way that is not good;
He abhorreth not evil.
Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, is in the heavens;
Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the skies.
Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God;
Thy judgments are a great deep:
O Jehovah, thou preservest man and beast.
How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God!
And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.
They shall be {Hebrew: watered.}abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house;
And thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
For with thee is the fountain of life:
In thy light shall we see light.
Oh continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee,
And thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There are the workers of iniquity fallen:
They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.
Querverweise zu Psalm 36,7 Ps 36,7
Oh how great is thy goodness,Which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee,Which thou hast wrought for them that take refuge in thee,Before the sons of men!
How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God!How great is the sum of them!
Keep me as the apple of the eye;Hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive,And abundant in lovingkindness unto all them that call upon thee.
Because it is contained in {Or, a scripture}scripture, {Isaiah 28:16}Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, {Or, honorable}precious:And he that believeth on {Or, it}him shall not be put to shame.
For the Chief Musician; set to Al-tashheth. A Psalm of David. Michtam; when he fled from Saul, in the cave.Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me;For my soul taketh refuge in thee:Yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I take refuge,Until these {Or, wickedness}calamities be overpast.
But thou, O Lord, art a God merciful and gracious,Slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.
{Or, In your sight}For you therefore that believe is the {Or, honor}preciousness: but for such as disbelieve, {Psalm 118:22.}The stone which the builders rejected,The same was made the head of the corner;
For thou hast been my help,And in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
They shall utter the memory of thy great goodness,And shall sing of thy righteousness.
whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of {Or, a}the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.
He will cover thee with his pinions,And under his wings shalt thou take refuge:His truth is a shield and a buckler.
Jehovah is gracious, and merciful;Slow to anger, and of great lovingkindness.
Jehovah recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of Jehovah, the God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to take refuge.
And Jehovah passed by before him, and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness and truth;
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her own brood under her wings, and ye would not!
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this cause the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Herein was the love of God manifested {Or, in our case}in us, that God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
