A Psalm of David.
Ascribe unto Jehovah, O ye {Or, sons of God}sons of the {Or, gods See Exodus 15:11.}mighty,
Ascribe unto Jehovah glory and strength.
Ascribe unto Jehovah the glory due unto his name;
Worship Jehovah {Or, in the beauty of holiness}in holy array.
The voice of Jehovah is upon the waters:
The God of glory thundereth,
Even Jehovah upon {Or, great}many waters.
The voice of Jehovah is powerful;
The voice of Jehovah is full of majesty.
The voice of Jehovah breaketh the cedars;
Yea, Jehovah breaketh in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
He maketh them also to skip like a calf;
Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild-ox.
The voice of Jehovah {Or, heweth out flames of fire}cleaveth the flames of fire.
The voice of Jehovah shaketh the wilderness;
Jehovah shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
The voice of Jehovah maketh the hinds to calve,
And strippeth the forests bare:
And in his temple everything saith, Glory.
Jehovah sat as King at the Flood;
Yea, Jehovah sitteth as King for ever.
Jehovah will give strength unto his people;
Jehovah will bless his people with peace.
Querverweise zu Psalm 29,10 Ps 29,10
The voice of Jehovah is upon the waters:The God of glory thundereth,Even Jehovah upon {Or, great}many waters.
Yet I have set my kingUpon my holy hill of Zion.
I will tell of the decree:Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son;This day have I begotten thee.
Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance,And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron;Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
Who stilleth the roaring of the seas,The roaring of their waves,And the tumult of the peoples.
Jehovah is King for ever and ever:The {Or, heathen}nations are perished out of his land.
Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a vesture;The waters stood above the mountains.
At thy rebuke they fled;At the voice of thy thunder they hasted away
{Or, They went up by the mountains, they went down by the valleys}(The mountains rose, the valleys sank down)Unto the place which thou hadst founded for them.
Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over;That they turn not again to cover the earth.
Jehovah reigneth; He is clothed with majesty;Jehovah is clothed with strength; he hath girded himself therewith:The world also is established, that it cannot be moved.
And I, behold, I do bring the flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; everything that is in the earth shall die.
Jehovah reigneth; let the peoples tremble:He {Or, is enthroned}sitteth above the cherubim; let the earth be moved.
And God remembered Noah, and all the beasts, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;
And in the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall the sovereignty thereof be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
the fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;
And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from {Or, evil}the evil one. {Many authorities, some ancient, but with variations add For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen. }
Or who shut up the sea with doors,When it brake forth, {Or, and issued}as if it had issued out of the womb;
When I made clouds the garment thereof,And thick darkness a swaddling-band for it,
And {Hebrew: brake.}marked out for it my bound,And set bars and doors,
And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further;And here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
Now unto the King {Greek: of the ages. Compare Hebrews 1:2; Revelation 15:3.}eternal, {Greek: incorruptible.}immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory {Greek: unto the ages of the ages.}for ever and ever. Amen.
Who hath cleft a channel for the waterflood,Or the way for the lightning of the thunder;
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
