Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto Jehovah, concerning the words of Cush a Benjamite.
O Jehovah my God, in thee do I take refuge:
Save me from all them that pursue me, and deliver me,
Lest they tear my soul like a lion,
Rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.
O Jehovah my God, if I have done this;
If there be iniquity in my hands;
If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me;
(Yea, I have delivered him that without cause was mine adversary);
Let the enemy pursue my soul, and overtake it;
Yea, let him tread my life down to the earth,
And lay my glory in the dust. [Selah
Arise, O Jehovah, in thine anger;
Lift up thyself against the rage of mine adversaries,
And awake for me; thou hast commanded judgment.
{Or, So shall}And let the congregation of the peoples compass thee about;
And over them return thou on high.
Jehovah ministereth judgment to the peoples:
Judge me, O Jehovah, according to my righteousness, and to mine integrity {Or, be it unto me}that is in me.
Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish thou the righteous:
For the righteous God trieth the minds and {Hebrew: reins}hearts.
My shield is with God,
Who saveth the upright in heart.
God is a righteous judge,
Yea, a God that hath indignation every day.
{Or, Surely he will again whet}If a man turn not, he will whet his sword;
He hath bent his bow, and made it ready;
He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death;
He maketh his arrows fiery shafts.
Behold, he travaileth with iniquity;
Yea, he hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.
He hath made a pit, and digged it,
And is fallen into the ditch which he made.
His mischief shall return upon his own head,
And his violence shall come down upon his own pate.
I will give thanks unto Jehovah according to his righteousness,
And will sing praise to the name of Jehovah Most High.
Querverweise zu Psalm 7,15 Ps 7,15
For without cause have they hid for me {Or, the pit of their net}their net in a pit;Without cause have they digged a pit for my soul.
The nations are sunk down in the pit that they made:In the net which they hid is their own foot taken.
The proud have digged pits for me,Who are not according to thy law.
Jehovah hath made himself known, he hath executed judgment: {Or, He snareth the wicked}The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. [Higgaion. Selah.
Yea, ye would cast lots upon the fatherless,And make merchandise of your friend.
In the pride of the wicked {Or, he doth hotly pursue the poor}the poor {Hebrew: is set on fire.}is hotly pursued; {Or, They are taken}Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived.
Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before thee to speak good for them, to turn away thy wrath from them.
Let destruction come upon him unawares;And let his net that he hath hid catch himself: {Or, Into that very destruction let him fall}With destruction let him fall therein.
That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity,Until the pit be digged for the wicked.
As for the head of those that compass me about,Let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
Let burning coals fall upon them:Let them be cast into the fire,Into {Or, floods}deep pits, whence they shall not rise.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets,Whilst that I withal {Hebrew: pass over.}escape.
So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified.
According as I have seen, they that plow iniquity,And sow {Or, mischief}trouble, reap the same.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked,And he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.
Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein;And he that rolleth a stone, it shall return upon him.
He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh through a wall, a serpent shall bite him.
Whoso {Or, moveth stones}heweth out stones shall be hurt therewith; and he that cleaveth wood is endangered thereby.
