Elihu also proceeded, and said,
{Hebrew: Wait for.}Suffer me a little, and I will show thee;
For {Hebrew: there are yet words for God.}I have yet somewhat to say on God's behalf.
I will fetch my knowledge from afar,
And will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
For truly my words are not false:
One that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.
Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any:
He is mighty in strength of {Hebrew: heart.}understanding.
He preserveth not the life of the wicked,
But giveth to the afflicted their right.
He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous:
But with kings upon the throne
He setteth them for ever, and they are exalted.
And if they be bound in fetters,
And be taken in the cords of afflictions;
Then he showeth them their work,
And their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly.
He openeth also their ear to instruction,
And commandeth that they return from iniquity.
If they hearken and serve him,
They shall spend their days in prosperity,
And their years in {Or, pleasantness}pleasures.
But if they hearken not, they shall perish by {Or, weapons}the sword,
And they shall die without knowledge.
But they that are godless in heart lay up anger:
They cry not for help when he bindeth them.
{Hebrew: Their soul dieth.}They die in youth,
And their life perisheth {Or, like}among the {Or, sodomites See Deuteronomy 23:17.}unclean.
He delivereth the afflicted {Or, in}by their affliction,
And openeth their ear {Or, by adversity}in oppression.
Yea, he would have allured thee {Hebrew: out of the mouth of.}out of distress
Into a broad place, where there is no straitness;
And that which is set on thy table would be full of fatness.
But thou {Or, hast filled up}art full of the judgment of the wicked:
Judgment and justice take hold on thee.
{Or, Because there is wrath, beware lest thou be led away by the sufficiency}For let not wrath stir thee up against chastisements;
Neither let the greatness of the ransom turn thee aside.
Will thy cry avail, that thou be not in distress,
Or all the forces of thy strength?
Desire not the night,
When peoples {Hebrew: go up.}are cut off in their place.
Take heed, regard not iniquity:
For this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
Behold, God doeth loftily in his power:
Who is a teacher like unto him?
Who hath enjoined him his way?
Or who can say, Thou hast wrought unrighteousness?
Remember that thou magnify his work,
Whereof men have sung.
All men have looked thereon;
Man beholdeth it afar off.
Behold, God is great, and we know him not;
The number of his years is unsearchable.
For he draweth up the drops of water,
Which distil in rain {Hebrew: belonging to.}from {Or, the vapor thereof}his vapor,
Which the skies pour down
And drop upon man abundantly.
Yea, can any understand the spreadings of the clouds,
The thunderings of his pavilion?
Behold, he spreadeth his light {Or, thereon}around him;
And he {Or, covereth it with the depths of the sea}covereth the bottom of the sea.
For by these he judgeth the peoples;
He giveth food in abundance.
He covereth his hands with the {Hebrew: light.}lightning,
And giveth it a charge {Or, against the assailant}that it strike the mark.
The noise thereof telleth concerning {Or, it}him,
The cattle also concerning {Or, him}the storm that cometh up.

With {Hebrew: him.}God is wisdom and might;He hath counsel and understanding.
Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again;He shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up;Again, he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
With him is strength and wisdom;The deceived and the deceiver are his.
He leadeth counsellors away stripped,And judges maketh he fools.
He looseth the bond of kings,And he bindeth their loins with a girdle.
He leadeth priests away stripped,And overthroweth the mighty.
He removeth the speech of the trusty,And taketh away the understanding of the elders.
He poureth contempt upon princes,And looseth the belt of the strong.
He uncovereth deep things out of darkness,And bringeth out to light the shadow of death.
He increaseth the nations, and he destroyeth them:He enlargeth the nations, and he leadeth them captive.
He taketh away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the {Or, land}earth,And causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
They grope in the dark without light;And he maketh them to {Hebrew: wander.}stagger like a drunken man.
and lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, thou be drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which Jehovah thy God hath allotted unto all the peoples under the whole heaven.
{Or, The shades Hebrew: The Rephaim.}They that are deceased trembleBeneath the waters and the inhabitants thereof.
Sheol is naked before {Hebrew: him.}God,And {Or, Destruction}Abaddon hath no covering.
He stretcheth out the north over empty space,And hangeth the earth {Or, over}upon nothing.
He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds;And the cloud is not rent under them.
He incloseth the face of his throne,And spreadeth his cloud upon it.
He hath described a boundary upon the face of the waters,Unto the confines of light and darkness.
The pillars of heaven trembleAnd are astonished at his rebuke.
He {Or, stilleth}stirreth up the sea with his power,And by his understanding he smiteth through Rahab.
By his Spirit the heavens are {Hebrew: beauty.}garnished;His hand hath pierced the {Or, fleeing Or, gliding }swift serpent.
Lo, these are but the outskirts of his ways:And {Or, how little a portion}how small a whisper {Or, is heard}do we hear of him!But the thunder of his {Or, mighty deeds}power who can understand?
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.The heavens declare the glory of God;And the firmament showeth his handiwork.
Day unto day uttereth speech,And night unto night showeth knowledge.
There is no speech nor language;Their voice is not heard.
Their line is gone out through all the earth,And their words to the end of the world.In them hath he set a {Hebrew: tent.}tabernacle for the sun,
Because they regard not the works of Jehovah,Nor the operation of his hands,He will break them down and not build them up.
Oh magnify Jehovah with me,And let us exalt his name together.
Blessed be Jehovah God, the God of Israel,Who only doeth wondrous things:
There is none like unto thee among the gods, O Lord;Neither are there any works like unto thy works.
All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord;And they shall glorify thy name.
For thou art great, and doest wondrous things:Thou art God alone.
For thou, Jehovah, hast made me glad through thy work:I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
How great are thy works, O Jehovah!Thy thoughts are very deep.
O Jehovah, how manifold are thy works!In wisdom hast thou made them all:The earth is full of thy {Or, creatures}riches.
Oh that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness,And for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Oh that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness,And for his wonderful works to the children of men!
The works of Jehovah are great,Sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
His work is honor and majesty;And his righteousness endureth for ever.
He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered:Jehovah is gracious and merciful.
They are established for ever and ever;They are {Or, made}done in truth and uprightness.
All thy works shall give thanks unto thee, O Jehovah;And thy saints shall bless thee.
They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom,And talk of thy power;
To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts,And the glory of the majesty of his kingdom.
He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding hath he stretched out the heavens.
How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
