Then Job answered and said,
How hast thou helped him that is without power!
How hast thou saved the arm that hath no strength!
How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom,
And plentifully declared sound knowledge!
To whom hast thou uttered words?
And whose {Hebrew: breath}spirit came forth from thee?
{Or, The shades Hebrew: The Rephaim.}They that are deceased tremble
Beneath the waters and the inhabitants thereof.
Sheol is naked before {Hebrew: him.}God,
And {Or, Destruction}Abaddon hath no covering.
He stretcheth out the north over empty space,
And hangeth the earth {Or, over}upon nothing.
He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds;
And the cloud is not rent under them.
He incloseth the face of his throne,
And spreadeth his cloud upon it.
He hath described a boundary upon the face of the waters,
Unto the confines of light and darkness.
The pillars of heaven tremble
And are astonished at his rebuke.
He {Or, stilleth}stirreth up the sea with his power,
And by his understanding he smiteth through Rahab.
By his Spirit the heavens are {Hebrew: beauty.}garnished;
His hand hath pierced the {Or, fleeing Or, gliding }swift serpent.
Lo, these are but the outskirts of his ways:
And {Or, how little a portion}how small a whisper {Or, is heard}do we hear of him!
But the thunder of his {Or, mighty deeds}power who can understand?
Querverweise zu Hiob 26,3 Hiob 26,3
Is it not that I have no help in me,And that wisdom is driven quite from me?
My words shall utter the uprightness of my heart; And that which my lips know they shall speak sincerely.
But I have understanding as well as you;I am not inferior to you:Yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
If not, hearken thou unto me:Hold thy peace, and I will teach thee wisdom.
Oh that ye would altogether hold your peace! And it would be your wisdom.
Who is this that darkeneth counselBy words without knowledge?
{Or, Dost thou harken in the council}Hast thou heard the secret counsel of God?And dost thou limit wisdom to thyself?
What knowest thou, that we know not? What understandest thou, which is not in us?
With us are both the grayheaded and the very aged men,Much elder than thy father.
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.Hear this, all ye peoples;Give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world,
Both low and high,Rich and poor together.
My mouth shall speak wisdom; And the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
I will incline mine ear to a parable:I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
But as for you all, come on now again; {Or, For I find not}And I shall not find a wise man among you.
My mouth shall tell of thy righteousness,And of thy salvation all the day;For I know not the numbers thereof.
I will come {Or, in the strength}with the mighty acts of the Lord Jehovah:I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
O God, thou hast taught me from my youth; And hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
Yea, even {Hebrew: unto old age and gray hairs.}when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not,Until I have declared {Hebrew: thine arm.}thy strength unto the next generation,Thy might to every one that is to come.
Behold, I waited for your words,I listened for your reasonings,Whilst ye searched out what to say.
Yea, I attended unto you,And, behold, there was none that convinced Job,Or that answered his words, among you.
{Or, Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom; God thrusteth him down, not man Now he &c.}Beware lest ye say, We have found wisdom;God may vanquish him, not man:
Hear, for I will speak excellent things; And the opening of my lips shall be right things.
For my mouth shall utter truth; And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
All the words of my mouth {Or, are righteousness}are in righteousness; There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.
They are all plain to him that understandeth,And right to them that find knowledge.
how I shrank not from declaring unto you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly, and from house to house,
For I shrank not from declaring unto you the whole counsel of God.
