1 wird geladen ... In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, Set thy house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.

2 wird geladen ... Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto Jehovah, saying,

3 wird geladen ... Remember now, O Jehovah, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

4 wird geladen ... And it came to pass, before Isaiah was gone {Or, out of}out into {According to another reading, the middle court.}the middle part of the city, that the word of Jehovah came to him, saying,

5 wird geladen ... Turn back, and say to Hezekiah the {Or, leader}prince of my people, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee; on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of Jehovah.

6 wird geladen ... And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

7 wird geladen ... And Isaiah said, Take a cake of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.

8 wird geladen ... And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that Jehovah will heal me, and that I shall go up unto the house of Jehovah the third day?

9 wird geladen ... And Isaiah said, This shall be the sign unto thee from Jehovah, that Jehovah will do the thing that he hath spoken: {Or, the shadow is gone forward ten steps, shall it go back &c.}shall the shadow go forward ten {Or, degrees}steps, or go back ten steps?

10 wird geladen ... And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to decline ten steps: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten steps.

11 wird geladen ... And Isaiah the prophet cried unto Jehovah; and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the {Hebrew: steps.}dial of Ahaz.

12 wird geladen ... At that time {In Isaiah 39:1, Merodach-baladan.}Berodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah; for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

13 wird geladen ... And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and showed them all the house of {Or, spicery}his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and {Another reading is, all the house.}the house of his {Or, jewels}armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.

14 wird geladen ... Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.

15 wird geladen ... And he said, What have they seen in thy house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them.

16 wird geladen ... And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of Jehovah.

17 wird geladen ... Behold, the days come, that all that is in thy house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith Jehovah.

18 wird geladen ... And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, whom thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

19 wird geladen ... Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of Jehovah which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, Is it not so, if peace and truth shall be in my days?

20 wird geladen ... Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

21 wird geladen ... And Hezekiah slept with his fathers; and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

Jes 38,8 wird geladen ... behold, I will cause the shadow on the steps, which is gone down on the {Hebrew: steps.}dial of Ahaz {Or, by}with the sun, to return backward ten steps. So the sun returned ten steps {Or, by which steps it &c.}on the dial whereon it was gone down.

Jes 38,9 wird geladen ... The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness.

Jes 38,10 wird geladen ... I said, In the {Or, tranquility}noontide of my days I shall go into the gates of Sheol:I am deprived of the residue of my years.

Jes 38,11 wird geladen ... I said, I shall not see {Hebrew: Jah.}Jehovah, even {Hebrew: Jah.}Jehovah in the land of the living:I shall behold man no more {Or, when I am among them that have ceased to be}with the inhabitants of the world.

Jes 38,12 wird geladen ... My dwelling is removed, and is carried away from me as a shepherd's tent:I have rolled up, like a weaver, my life; he will cut me off from the {Hebrew: thrum.}loom:From day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

Jes 38,14 wird geladen ... Like a swallow or a crane, so did I chatter;I did moan as a dove; mine eyes fail with looking upward:O Lord, I am oppressed, be thou my surety.

Jes 38,15 wird geladen ... What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it:I shall go {Or, as in solemn procession See Psalm 42:4.}softly all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.

Jes 38,16 wird geladen ... O Lord, by these things men live;And wholly therein is the life of my spirit: {Or, So wilt thou recover me}Wherefore recover thou me, and make me to live.

Jes 38,17 wird geladen ... Behold, it was for my peace that I had great bitterness:But {Hebrew: thou hast loved my soul from the pit.}thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of {Or, nothingness}corruption;For thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

Jes 38,18 wird geladen ... For Sheol cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee:They that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.

Jes 38,19 wird geladen ... The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day:The father to the children shall make known thy truth.

Jes 38,20 wird geladen ... Jehovah is ready to save me:Therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instrumentsAll the days of our life in the house of Jehovah.

Jona 3,10 wird geladen ... And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil which he said he would do unto them; and he did it not.
