1 wird geladen ... Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat began Abijam to reign over Judah.

2 wird geladen ... Three years reigned he in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was {In 2 Chronicles 13:2, Micaiah the daughter of Uriel.}Maacah the daughter of {In 2 Chronicles 11:20, 21, Absolom.}Abishalom.

3 wird geladen ... And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not perfect with Jehovah his God, as the heart of David his father.

4 wird geladen ... Nevertheless for David's sake did Jehovah his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem;

5 wird geladen ... because David did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, and turned not aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

6 wird geladen ... Now there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

7 wird geladen ... And the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

8 wird geladen ... And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.

9 wird geladen ... And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Asa to reign over Judah.

10 wird geladen ... And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.

11 wird geladen ... And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, as did David his father.

12 wird geladen ... And he put away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

13 wird geladen ... And also Maacah his mother he removed from being {Or, queen mother}queen, because she had made an abominable image {Or, for Asherah}for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

14 wird geladen ... But the high places were not taken away: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect with Jehovah all his days.

15 wird geladen ... And he brought into the house of Jehovah the things that his father had dedicated, and the things that himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.

16 wird geladen ... And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

17 wird geladen ... And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

18 wird geladen ... Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants; and king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

20 wird geladen ... And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

21 wird geladen ... And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

22 wird geladen ... Then king Asa made a proclamation unto all Judah; none was exempted: and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built therewith Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

23 wird geladen ... Now the rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

24 wird geladen ... And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.

25 wird geladen ... And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah; and he reigned over Israel two years.

26 wird geladen ... And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

27 wird geladen ... And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.

28 wird geladen ... Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his stead.

29 wird geladen ... And it came to pass that, as soon as he was king, he smote all the house of Jeroboam: he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him; according unto the saying of Jehovah, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite;

30 wird geladen ... for the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and wherewith he made Israel to sin, because of his provocation wherewith he provoked Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger.

31 wird geladen ... Now the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

32 wird geladen ... And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

33 wird geladen ... In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, and reigned twenty and four years.

34 wird geladen ... And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

2Chr 13,5 wird geladen ... Ought ye not to know that Jehovah, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?

2Chr 13,6 wird geladen ... Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.

2Chr 13,7 wird geladen ... And there were gathered unto him worthless men, base fellows, that strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tender-hearted, and could not withstand them.

2Chr 13,8 wird geladen ... And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of Jehovah in the hand of the sons of David; and ye are a great multitude, and there are with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods.

2Chr 13,9 wird geladen ... Have ye not driven out the priests of Jehovah, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made you priests after the manner of the peoples of other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.

2Chr 13,10 wird geladen ... But as for us, Jehovah is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and we have priests ministering unto Jehovah, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work:

2Chr 13,11 wird geladen ... and they burn unto Jehovah every morning and every evening burnt-offerings and sweet incense: the showbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of Jehovah our God; but ye have forsaken him.

2Chr 13,12 wird geladen ... And, behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against Jehovah, the God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.

2Chr 13,13 wird geladen ... But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them.

2Chr 13,14 wird geladen ... And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them; and they cried unto Jehovah, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.

2Chr 13,15 wird geladen ... Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

2Chr 13,16 wird geladen ... And the children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into their hand.

2Chr 13,17 wird geladen ... And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.

2Chr 13,18 wird geladen ... Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon Jehovah, the God of their fathers.

2Chr 13,19 wird geladen ... And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Beth-el with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and {Another reading is, Ephrain.}Ephron with the towns thereof.

2Chr 13,20 wird geladen ... Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah: and Jehovah smote him, and he died.

2Chr 13,21 wird geladen ... But Abijah waxed mighty, and took unto himself fourteen wives, and begat twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters.

2Chr 13,22 wird geladen ... And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the commentary of the prophet Iddo.
