Versliste
with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereunto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints,
Continue stedfastly in prayer, watching therein with thanksgiving;
pray without ceasing;
I exhort therefore, first of all, {Greek: to make supplications &c.}that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men;
for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity.
To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.
Peter therefore was kept in the prison: but prayer was made earnestly of the church unto God for him.
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou believedst, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
But my people hearkened not to my voice;And Israel would none of me.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Ye call me, Teacher, and, Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
Wherefore also he is able to save {Greek: completely.}to the uttermost them that draw near unto God through him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
making request, if by any means now at length I may be prospered {Greek: in.}by the will of God to come unto you.
Now I beseech you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;
I thank {Some ancient authorities omit my.}my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;
I thank my God upon all my remembrance of you,
always in every supplication of mine on behalf of you all making my supplication with joy,
We give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray and make request for you, that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and {Or, stedfastness}patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before {Or, God and our Father}our God and Father;
Behold, Jehovah's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, so that he will not hear.
If I {Or, had regarded}regard iniquity in my heart,The Lord {Or, would}will not hear:
For, {Psalm 34:12 ff.}He that would love life,And see good days,Let him refrain his tongue from evil,And his lips that they speak no guile:
And let him turn away from evil, and do good;Let him seek peace, and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous,And his ears unto their supplication:But the face of the Lord is upon them that do evil.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may spend it in your pleasures.
Son of man, these men have {Hebrew: caused to come up.}taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor,He also shall cry, but shall not be heard.
But if any of you lacketh wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
If therefore thou art offering thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee,
{Or, Watch ye, and pray that ye enter not}Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Take us the foxes, the little foxes,That spoil the vineyards;For our vineyards are in blossom.
Now I beseech you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;
above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins:
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves.
Then these men assembled together, and found Daniel making petition and supplication before his God.
Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's interdict: Hast thou not signed an interdict, that every man that shall make petition unto any god or man within thirty days, save unto thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which {Aramaic: passeth not away.}altereth not.
Elijah was a man of like {Or, nature}passions with us, and he prayed {Greek: with prayer.}fervently that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months.
And he prayed again; and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
And in that day ye shall {Or, ask me nothing compare verse 26; chapter 14:13, 20}ask me no question. Verily, verily, I say unto you, if ye shall ask anything of the Father, he will give it you in my name.
And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us:
and if we know that he heareth us whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.
and he would not suffer that any man should carry a vessel through the temple.
