Versliste
And Jehovah sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
He said therefore again unto them, I go away, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin: whither I go, ye cannot come.
And I, if I be lifted up {Or, out of}from the earth, will draw all men unto myself.
And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.
I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture.
And I {Greek: have said.}say unto him, My lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they that come out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Therefore are they before the throne of God; and they serve him day and night in his {Or, sanctuary}temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall spread his tabernacle over them.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.
But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved {Greek: in.}by his life;
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
but God, being rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
My little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue; but in deed and truth.
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things?
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, {Or, both rightousness and sanctification and redemption}and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:
Him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; that we might become the righteousness of God in him.
And all that dwell on the earth shall worship him, every one whose name hath not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that hath been slain.
Jesus therefore said, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that {Or, I am he: and I do}I am he, and that I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I speak these things.
Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by?Behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is brought upon me, {Or, Whom Jehovah hath afflicted}Wherewith Jehovah hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.
And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life.
And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation.
Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest unto God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.
Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, {Or, living in mirth and splendor every day}faring sumptuously every day:
The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked; but now he {Some ancient authorities read declareth to men.}commandeth men that they should all everywhere repent:
inasmuch as he hath appointed a day in which he will judge {Greek: the inhabited earth.}the world in righteousness {Greek: in.}by {Or, a man}the man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.
And the sea gave up the dead that were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, even the lake of fire.
And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.
how I shrank not from declaring unto you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly, and from house to house,
For I shrank not from declaring unto you the whole counsel of God.
in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if {Or, it}he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is.
but as it is written, {Isaiah 64:4; 65:17.}Things which eye saw not, and ear heard not,And which entered not into the heart of man,Whatsoever things God prepared for them that love him.
for the Lamb that is in the midst {Or, before See chapter 4:6; compare 5:6.}of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them unto fountains of waters of life: and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.
And he showed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of {Or, the Lamb. In the midst of the street thereof, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life &c.}the Lamb,
in the midst of the street thereof. And on this side of the river and on that was {Or, a tree}the tree of life, bearing twelve {Or, crops of fruit}manner of fruits, yielding its fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
And there shall be {Or, no more anything accursed}no curse any more: and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be therein: and his {Greek: bondservants.}servants shall serve him;
and they shall see his face; and his name shall be on their foreheads.
And there shall be night no more; and they need no light of lamp, neither light of sun; for the Lord God shall give them light: and they shall reign {Greek: unto the ages of the ages.}for ever and ever.
And he said unto me, These words are faithful and true: and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his angel to show unto his {Greek: bondservants.}servants the things which must shortly come to pass.
And behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he that keepeth the words of the prophecy of this book.
And I John am he that heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to {See marginal note on chapter 3:9}worship before the feet of the angel that showed me these things.
And he saith unto me, See thou do it not: I am a fellow-servant with thee and with thy brethren the prophets, and with them that keep the words of this book: {See marginal note on chapter 3:9}worship God.
And he saith unto me, Seal not up the words of the prophecy of this book; for the time is at hand.
He that is unrighteous, let him do unrighteousness {Or, yet more}still: and he that is filthy, let him be made filthy {Or, yet more}still: and he that is righteous, let him do righteousness {Or, yet more}still: and he that is holy, let him be made holy {Or, yet more}still.
Behold, I come quickly; and my {Or, wages}reward is with me, to render to each man according as his work is.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have {Or, the authority over Compare chapter 6:8}the right to come to the tree of life, and may enter in by the {Greek: portals.}gates into the city.
Without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loveth and {Or, doeth}maketh a lie.
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things {Greek: over.}for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright, the morning star.
{Or, Both}And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And he that heareth, let him say, Come. And he that is athirst, let him come: he that will, let him take the water of life freely.
I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add {Greek: upon.}unto them, God shall add {Greek: upon.}unto him the plagues which are written in this book:
and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are {Or, even from the things which are written}written in this book.
He who testifieth these things saith, Yea: I come quickly. Amen: come, Lord Jesus.
The grace of the Lord Jesus {Some ancient authorities add Christ.} be {Two ancient authorities read with all.}with the saints. Amen

When Pilate therefore heard this saying, he was the more afraid;
and he entered into the {Or, palace}Prætorium again, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
Pilate therefore saith unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have {Or, authority}power to release thee, and have {Or, authority}power to crucify thee?
Jesus answered him, Thou wouldest have no {Or, authority}power against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath greater sin.
Upon this Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou release this man, thou art not Cæsar's friend: every one that maketh himself a king {Or, opposeth Cæsar}speaketh against Cæsar.
