Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea from Syria; and, behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar (the same is En-gedi).
And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek unto Jehovah; and he proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
And they made their father drink wine that night: and the first-born went in, and lay with her father; and he knew not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that the first-born said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also. And go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
And they made their father drink wine that night also; and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he knew not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

Rejoice in Jehovah, O ye righteous:Praise is comely for the upright.
Give thanks unto Jehovah with the harp:Sing praises unto him with the psaltery of ten strings.
Sing unto him a new song;Play skilfully with a loud noise.
For the word of Jehovah is right; And all his work is done in faithfulness.
He loveth righteousness and justice:The earth is full of the lovingkindness of Jehovah.

There is no king saved by {Or, a great power}the multitude of a host:A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
A horse is a vain thing for safety;Neither doth he deliver any by his great power.
Behold, the eye of Jehovah is upon them that fear him,Upon them that {Or, wait for}hope in his lovingkindness;
To deliver their soul from death,And to keep them alive in famine.
Our soul hath waited for Jehovah:He is our help and our shield.
For our heart shall rejoice in him,Because we have trusted in his holy name.
Let thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, be upon us,According as we {Or, wait for}have hoped in thee.
There is no king saved by {Or, a great power}the multitude of a host:A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
Our soul hath waited for Jehovah:He is our help and our shield.
