A Song; a Psalm of the sons of Korah.
Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised,
In the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth,
Is mount Zion, on the sides of the north,
The city of the great King.
God hath made himself known in her palaces for a {Or, high tower}refuge.
For, lo, the kings assembled themselves,
They {Or, passed away}passed by together.
They saw it, then were they amazed;
They were dismayed, they {Or, were stricken with terror}hasted away.
Trembling took hold of them there,
Pain, as of a woman in travail.
{Or, As with the east wind that breatheth}With the east wind
Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish.
As we have heard, so have we seen
In the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God:
God will establish it for ever.

We have thought on thy lovingkindness, O God,
In the midst of thy temple.
As is thy name, O God,
So is thy praise unto the ends of the earth:
Thy right hand is full of righteousness.
Let mount Zion be glad,
Let the daughters of Judah rejoice,
Because of thy judgments.
Walk about Zion, and go round about her;
Number the towers thereof;
Mark ye well her bulwarks;
{Or, Traverse}Consider her palaces:
That ye may tell it to the generation following.
For this God is our God for ever and ever:
He will be our guide even unto death.
Querverweise zu Psalm 48,11 Ps 48,11
Zion heard and was glad,And the daughters of Judah rejoiced,Because of thy judgments, O Jehovah.
The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance:He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked;
I am black, but comely,Oh ye daughters of Jerusalem,As the tents of Kedar,As the curtains of Solomon.
O daughter of Babylon, {Or, that art laid waste}that art to be destroyed,Happy shall he be, that rewardeth theeAs thou hast served us.
I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,By the {Or, gazelles}roes, or by the hinds of the field,That ye stir not up, nor awake my love,Until {Or, it Or, she}he please.
Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little onesAgainst the rock.
I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,By the roes, or by the hinds of the field,That ye stir not up, nor awake my love,Until {Or, it Or, she}he please.
So let all thine enemies perish, O Jehovah:But let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might.And the land had rest forty years.
His {Or, speech Hebrew: palate.}mouth is most sweet;Yea, he is altogether lovely.This is my beloved, and this is my friend,O daughters of Jerusalem.
And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of {That is, Blessing.}Beracah; for there they blessed Jehovah: therefore the name of that place was called The valley of Beracah unto this day.
this is the word which Jehovah hath spoken concerning him: The virgin daughter of Zion hath despised thee and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head {Hebrew: after.}at thee.
Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for Jehovah had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy king cometh unto thee; he is just, and {Hebrew: saved.}having {Or, victory}salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, even upon a colt the foal of an ass.
Who shall not fear, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy; for all the nations shall come and {See marginal note on chapter 3:9}worship before thee; for thy righteous acts have been made manifest.
But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
And I heard the angel of the waters saying, Righteous art thou, who art and who wast, thou Holy One, because thou didst thus {Or, judge. Because they…prophets, thou hast given them blood also to drink}judge:
for they poured out the blood of saints and prophets, and blood hast thou given them to drink: they are worthy.
And I heard the altar saying, Yea, O Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye saints, and ye apostles, and ye prophets; for God hath judged your judgment on her.
After these things I heard as it were a great voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,Hallelujah; Salvation, and glory, and power, belong to our God:
for true and righteous are his judgments; for he hath judged the great harlot, her that corrupted the earth with her fornication, and he hath avenged the blood of his {Greek: bondservants.}servants at her hand.
And a second time they {Greek: have said.}say, Hallelujah. And her smoke goeth up {Greek: unto the ages of the ages.}for ever and ever.
