I am come into my garden, my sister, my bride:
I have gathered my myrrh with my {Or, balsam}spice;
I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey;
I have drunk my wine with my milk.
Eat, O friends;
Drink, yea, drink abundantly, {Or, of love}O beloved.
I {Or, sleep, but my heart waketh}was asleep, but my heart waked:
It is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying,
Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my {Hebrew: perfect.}undefiled;
For my head is filled with dew,
My locks with the drops of the night.
I have put off my garment; how shall I put it on?
I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them?
My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door,
And my {Hebrew: bowels.}heart was moved for him.
I rose up to open to my beloved;
And my hands dropped with myrrh,
And my fingers with liquid myrrh,
Upon the handles of the bolt.
I opened to my beloved;
But my beloved had {Or, turned away}withdrawn himself, and was gone.
My soul {Hebrew: went forth.}had failed me when he spake:
I sought him, but I could not find him;
I called him, but he gave me no answer.
The watchmen that go about the city found me,
They smote me, they wounded me;
The keepers of the walls took away my {Or, veil}mantle from me.
I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
If ye find my beloved,
{Hebrew: What will ye tell him? That &c.}That ye tell him, that I am sick from love.
What is thy beloved more than another beloved,
O thou fairest among women?
What is thy beloved more than another beloved,
That thou dost so adjure us?
My beloved is white and ruddy,
{Hebrew: Marked out by a banner.}The chiefest among ten thousand.
His head is as the most fine gold;
His locks are {Or, curling}bushy, and black as a raven.
His eyes are like doves beside the water-brooks,
Washed with milk, and {Or, sitting by full streams}fitly set.
His cheeks are as a bed of {Or, balsam}spices,
As {Or, towers of perfumes}banks of sweet herbs:
His lips are as lilies, dropping liquid myrrh.
His hands are as {Or, cylinders}rings of gold set with {Or, topaz}beryl:
His body is as {Or, bright ivory}ivory work {Or, encrusted}overlaid with sapphires.
His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold:
His aspect is like Lebanon, excellent as the cedars.
His {Or, speech Hebrew: palate.}mouth is most sweet;
Yea, he is altogether lovely.
This is my beloved, and this is my friend,
O daughters of Jerusalem.

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth;For thy love is better than wine.
Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant:Also our couch is green.
My beloved is mine, and I am his:He feedeth his flock among the lilies.
Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith Jehovah.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold;Sweeter also than honey and the droppings of the honeycomb.
I am a {Hebrew: habazzeleth, the autumn crocus.}rose of {Or, the plain}Sharon,A lily of the valleys.
I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine:He feedeth his flock among the lilies.
And Jehovah said unto me, Go again, love a woman beloved {Or, of her husband, yet an &c.}of her friend, and an adulteress, even as Jehovah loveth the children of Israel, though they turn unto other gods, and {Or, them that love}love cakes of raisins.
How sweet are thy words unto my {Hebrew: palate.}taste!Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
As the apple-tree among the trees of the wood,So is my beloved among the sons.I {Hebrew: delighted and sat down &c.}sat down under his shadow with great delight,And his fruit was sweet to my taste.
I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ liveth in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.
and the scripture was fulfilled which saith, {Genesis 15:6}And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness; {Isaiah 41:8; 2 Chronicles 20:7}and he was called the friend of God.
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy words were unto me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by thy name, O Jehovah, God of hosts.
Thou art fairer than the children of men;Grace is poured {Or, upon}into thy lips:Therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.
Ye {That is, who break your marriage vow to God.}adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore would be a friend of the world maketh himself an enemy of God.
For who in the skies can be compared unto Jehovah?Who among the {Or, sons of God}sons of the {Or, gods See Psalm 29:1.}mighty is like unto Jehovah,
Let them praise the name of Jehovah;For his name alone is exalted;His glory is above the earth and the heavens.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called {Or, Wonderful counsellor}Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, {Hebrew: Father of Eternity.}Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.
Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ,
Because it is contained in {Or, a scripture}scripture, {Isaiah 28:16}Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, {Or, honorable}precious:And he that believeth on {Or, it}him shall not be put to shame.
{Or, In your sight}For you therefore that believe is the {Or, honor}preciousness: but for such as disbelieve, {Psalm 118:22.}The stone which the builders rejected,The same was made the head of the corner;
