Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
How long will ye hunt for words?
Consider, and afterwards we will speak.
Wherefore are we counted as beasts,
And are become unclean in your sight?
Thou that tearest thyself in thine anger,
Shall the earth be forsaken for thee?
Or shall the rock be removed out of its place?
Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out,
And the {Or, flame}spark of his fire shall not shine.
The light shall be dark in his tent,
And his lamp {Or, beside}above him shall be put out.
The steps of his strength shall be straitened,
And his own counsel shall cast him down.
For he is cast into a net by his own feet,
And he walketh upon the toils.
A gin shall take him by the heel,
And a snare shall lay hold on him.
A noose is hid for him in the ground,
And a trap for him in the way.
Terrors shall make him afraid on every side,
And shall chase him at his heels.
His strength shall be hunger-bitten,
And calamity shall be ready {Or, for his halting}at his side.
The {Hebrew: bars of his skin.}members of his body shall be devoured,
Yea, the first-born of death shall devour his members.
He shall be rooted out of his tent where he trusteth;
And {Hebrew: it shall (or, thou shall) bring him.}he shall be brought to the king of terrors.
{Or, It shall dwell in his tent, that it be no more his (or, because it is none of his)}There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his:
Brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
His roots shall be dried up beneath,
And above shall his branch {Or, wither}be cut off.
His remembrance shall perish from the earth,
And he shall have no name in the street.
He shall be driven from light into darkness,
And chased out of the world.
He shall have neither son nor son's son among his people,
Nor any remaining where he sojourned.
{Or, They that dwell in the west are…as they that dwell in the east are &c.}They that come after shall be astonished at his day,
As they that went before {Hebrew: laid hold on horror.}were affrighted.
Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous,
And this is the place of him that knoweth not God.

He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it?He knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
{Or, Surely he will again whet}If a man turn not, he will whet his sword;He hath bent his bow, and made it ready;
He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; He maketh his arrows fiery shafts.
Behold, he travaileth with iniquity;Yea, he hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.
Distress and anguish make him afraid; They prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape.
They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; And they that were hungry {Or, have rest}have ceased to hunger:Yea, the barren hath borne seven; And she that hath many children languisheth.
And in covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose sentence now from of old lingereth not, and their destruction slumbereth not.
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thy house shall come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; But they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good thing.
Let his children be vagabonds, and beg;And let them seek their bread {Or, far from}out of their desolate places.
