And it came to pass, when DavidH1732 and his menH582 were comeH935 to ZiklagH6860 on the thirdH7992 dayH3117, that the AmalekitesH6003 had invadedH6584 the southH5045, and ZiklagH6860, and smittenH5221 ZiklagH6860, and burnedH8313 it with fireH784;
And had taken the womenH802 captivesH7617, that were therein: they slewH4191 not anyH376, either greatH1419 or smallH6996, but carried them awayH5090, and wentH3212 on their wayH1870.
So DavidH1732 and his menH582 cameH935 to the cityH5892, and, behold, it was burnedH8313 with fireH784; and their wivesH802, and their sonsH1121, and their daughtersH1323, were taken captivesH7617.
Then DavidH1732 and the peopleH5971 that were with him lifted upH5375 their voiceH6963 and weptH1058, until they had no more powerH3581 to weepH1058.
And David'sH1732 twoH8147 wivesH802 were taken captivesH7617, AhinoamH293 the JezreelitessH3159, and AbigailH26 the wifeH802 of NabalH5037 the CarmeliteH3761.
And DavidH1732 was greatlyH3966 distressedH3334; for the peopleH5971 spakeH559 of stoningH5619 him, because the soulH5315 of all the peopleH5971 was grievedH4843, every manH376 for his sonsH1121 and for his daughtersH1323: but DavidH1732 encouragedH2388 himself in the LORDH3068 his GodH430. {grieved: Heb. bitter}
And DavidH1732 saidH559 to AbiatharH54 the priestH3548, Ahimelech'sH288 sonH1121, I pray thee, bring me hitherH5066 the ephodH646. And AbiatharH54 broughtH5066 thither the ephodH646 to DavidH1732.
And DavidH1732 enquiredH7592 at the LORDH3068, sayingH559, Shall I pursueH7291 afterH310 this troopH1416? shall I overtakeH5381 them? And he answeredH559 him, PursueH7291: for thou shalt surelyH5381 overtakeH5381 them, and without failH5337 recoverH5337 all.
So DavidH1732 wentH3212, he and the sixH8337 hundredH3967 menH376 that were with him, and cameH935 to the brookH5158 BesorH1308, where those that were left behindH3498 stayedH5975.
But DavidH1732 pursuedH7291, he and fourH702 hundredH3967 menH376: for two hundredH3967 abode behindH5975, which were so faintH6296 that they could not go overH5674 the brookH5158 BesorH1308.
And they foundH4672 an EgyptianH376+H4713 in the fieldH7704, and broughtH3947 him to DavidH1732, and gaveH5414 him breadH3899, and he did eatH398; and they made him drinkH8248 waterH4325;
And they gaveH5414 him a pieceH6400 of a cakeH1690 of figs, and twoH8147 clusters of raisinsH6778: and when he had eatenH398, his spiritH7307 came againH7725 to him: for he had eatenH398 no breadH3899, nor drunkH8354 any waterH4325, threeH7969 daysH3117 and threeH7969 nightsH3915.
And DavidH1732 saidH559 unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he saidH559, I am a young manH5288 of EgyptH4713, servantH5650 to an AmalekiteH376+H6003; and my masterH113 leftH5800 me, because threeH7969 daysH3117 agone I fell sickH2470.
We made an invasionH6584 upon the southH5045 of the CherethitesH3774, and upon the coast which belongeth to JudahH3063, and upon the southH5045 of CalebH3612; and we burnedH8313 ZiklagH6860 with fireH784.
And DavidH1732 saidH559 to him, Canst thou bring me downH3381 to this companyH1416? And he saidH559, SwearH7650 unto me by GodH430, that thou wilt neither killH4191 me, norH518 deliverH5462 me into the handsH3027 of my masterH113, and I will bring thee downH3381 to this companyH1416.
And when he had brought him downH3381, behold, they were spread abroadH5203 upon allH6440 the earthH776, eatingH398 and drinkingH8354, and dancingH2287, because of all the greatH1419 spoilH7998 that they had takenH3947 out of the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430, and out of the landH776 of JudahH3063.
And DavidH1732 smoteH5221 them from the twilightH5399 even unto the eveningH6153 of the next dayH4283: and there escapedH4422 not a manH376 of them, save fourH702 hundredH3967 youngH5288 menH376, which rodeH7392 upon camelsH1581, and fledH5127. {the next…: Heb. their morrow}
And DavidH1732 recoveredH5337 all that the AmalekitesH6002 had carried awayH3947: and DavidH1732 rescuedH5337 his twoH8147 wivesH802.
And there was nothing lackingH5737 to them, neitherH4480 smallH6996 nor greatH1419, neither sonsH1121 nor daughtersH1323, neither spoilH7998, nor any thing that they had takenH3947 to them: DavidH1732 recoveredH7725 all.
And DavidH1732 tookH3947 all the flocksH6629 and the herdsH1241, which they draveH5090 beforeH6440 thoseH1931 other cattleH4735, and saidH559, This is David'sH1732 spoilH7998.
And DavidH1732 cameH935 to the two hundredH3967 menH582, which were so faintH6296 that they could not followH3212+H310 DavidH1732, whom they had made also to abideH3427 at the brookH5158 BesorH1308: and they went forthH3318 to meetH7125 DavidH1732, and to meetH7125 the peopleH5971 that were with him: and when DavidH1732 came nearH5066 to the peopleH5971, he salutedH7592+H7965 them. {saluted…: or, asked them how they did}
Then answeredH6030 all the wickedH7451 menH376 and men of BelialH1100, of thoseH582 that wentH1980 with DavidH1732, and saidH559, Because they wentH1980 not with us, we will not giveH5414 them ought of the spoilH7998 that we have recoveredH5337, save to every manH376 his wifeH802 and his childrenH1121, that they may lead them awayH5090, and departH3212. {those: Heb. men}
Then saidH559 DavidH1732, Ye shall not do soH6213, my brethrenH251, with that which the LORDH3068 hath givenH5414 us, who hath preservedH8104 us, and deliveredH5414 the companyH1416 that cameH935 against us into our handH3027.
For who will hearkenH8085 unto you in this matterH1697? but as his partH2506 is that goeth downH3381+H3381 to the battleH4421, so shall his partH2506 be that tarriethH3427 by the stuffH3627: they shall partH2505 alikeH3162.
And it was so from that dayH3117 forwardH4605, that he madeH7760 it a statuteH2706 and an ordinanceH4941 for IsraelH3478 unto this dayH3117. {forward: Heb. and forward}
And when DavidH1732 cameH935 to ZiklagH6860, he sentH7971 of the spoilH7998 unto the eldersH2205 of JudahH3063, even to his friendsH7453, sayingH559, Behold a presentH1293 for you of the spoilH7998 of the enemiesH341 of the LORDH3068; {present: Heb. blessing}
To themH834 which were in BethelH1008, and to them which were in southH5045 RamothH7418, and to them which were in JattirH3492,
And to them which were in AroerH6177, and to them which were in SiphmothH8224, and to them which were in EshtemoaH851,
And to them which were in RachalH7403, and to them which were in the citiesH5892 of the JerahmeelitesH3397, and to them which were in the citiesH5892 of the KenitesH7017,
And to them which were in HormahH2767, and to them which were in ChorashanH3565, and to them which were in AthachH6269,
And to them which were in HebronH2275, and to all the placesH4725 where DavidH1732 himself and his menH582 were wont to hauntH1980.
ForG1063 godlyG2316+G2596 sorrowG3077 workethG2716 repentanceG3341 toG1519 salvationG4991 not to be repented ofG278: butG1161 the sorrowG3077 of the worldG2889 workethG2716 deathG2288.
And the LORDH3068 spakeH1696 unto MosesH4872, sayingH559,
This shall be the lawH8451 of the leperH6879 in the dayH3117 of his cleansingH2893: He shall be broughtH935 unto the priestH3548:
And the priestH3548 shall go forthH3318 outH2351 of the campH4264; and the priestH3548 shall lookH7200, and, behold, if the plagueH5061 of leprosyH6883 be healedH7495 in the leperH6879;
Then shall the priestH3548 commandH6680 to takeH3947 for him that is to be cleansedH2891 twoH8147 birdsH6833 aliveH2416 and cleanH2889, and cedarH730 woodH6086, and scarletH8144+H8438, and hyssopH231: {birds: or, sparrows}
And the priestH3548 shall commandH6680 that oneH259 of the birdsH6833 be killedH7819 in an earthenH2789 vesselH3627 over runningH2416 waterH4325:
As for the livingH2416 birdH6833, he shall takeH3947 it, and the cedarH730 woodH6086, and the scarletH8144+H8438, and the hyssopH231, and shall dipH2881 them and the livingH2416 birdH6833 in the bloodH1818 of the birdH6833 that was killedH7819 over the runningH2416 waterH4325:
And he shall sprinkleH5137 upon him that is to be cleansedH2891 from the leprosyH6883 sevenH7651 timesH6471, and shall pronounce him cleanH2891, and shall let the livingH2416 birdH6833 looseH7971 into the openH6440 fieldH7704. {into…: Heb. upon the face of the field}
And he that is to be cleansedH2891 shall washH3526 his clothesH899, and shaveH1548 off all his hairH8181, and washH7364 himself in waterH4325, that he may be cleanH2891: and afterH310 that he shall comeH935 into the campH4264, and shall tarryH3427 abroadH2351 out of his tentH168 sevenH7651 daysH3117.
But it shall be on the seventhH7637 dayH3117, that he shall shaveH1548 all his hairH8181 off his headH7218 and his beardH2206 and his eyebrowsH1354+H5869, even all his hairH8181 he shall shaveH1548 off: and he shall washH3526 his clothesH899, also he shall washH7364 his fleshH1320 in waterH4325, and he shall be cleanH2891.
And on the eighthH8066 dayH3117 he shall takeH3947 twoH8147 he lambsH3532 without blemishH8549, and oneH259 ewe lambH3535 of the firstH1323 yearH8141 without blemishH8549, and threeH7969 tenth dealsH6241 of fine flourH5560 for a meat offeringH4503, mingledH1101 with oilH8081, and oneH259 logH3849 of oilH8081. {of the…: Heb. the daughter of her year}
And the priestH3548 that maketh him cleanH2891 shall presentH5975 the manH376 that is to be made cleanH2891, and those things, beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, at the doorH6607 of the tabernacleH168 of the congregationH4150:
And the priestH3548 shall takeH3947 oneH259 he lambH3532, and offerH7126 him for a trespass offeringH817, and the logH3849 of oilH8081, and waveH5130 them for a wave offeringH8573 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068:
And he shall slayH7819 the lambH3532 in the placeH4725 where he shall killH7819 the sin offeringH2403 and the burnt offeringH5930, in the holyH6944 placeH4725: for as the sin offeringH2403 is the priest'sH3548, so is the trespass offeringH817: it is mostH6944 holyH6944:
And the priestH3548 shall takeH3947 some of the bloodH1818 of the trespass offeringH817, and the priestH3548 shall putH5414 it upon the tipH8571 of the rightH3233 earH241 of him that is to be cleansedH2891, and upon the thumbH931 of his rightH3233 handH3027, and upon the great toeH931 of his rightH3233 footH7272:
And the priestH3548 shall takeH3947 some of the logH3849 of oilH8081, and pourH3332 it into the palmH3709 of his ownH3548 left handH8042:
And the priestH3548 shall dipH2881 his rightH3233 fingerH676 in the oilH8081 that is in his leftH8042 handH3709, and shall sprinkleH5137 of the oilH8081 with his fingerH676 sevenH7651 timesH6471 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068:
And of the restH3499 of the oilH8081 that is in his handH3709 shall the priestH3548 putH5414 upon the tipH8571 of the rightH3233 earH241 of him that is to be cleansedH2891, and upon the thumbH931 of his rightH3233 handH3027, and upon the great toeH931 of his rightH3233 footH7272, upon the bloodH1818 of the trespass offeringH817:
And the remnantH3498 of the oilH8081 that is in the priest'sH3548 handH3709 he shall pourH5414 upon the headH7218 of him that is to be cleansedH2891: and the priestH3548 shall make an atonementH3722 for him beforeH6440 the LORDH3068.
And the priestH3548 shall offerH6213 the sin offeringH2403, and make an atonementH3722 for him that is to be cleansedH2891 from his uncleannessH2932; and afterwardH310 he shall killH7819 the burnt offeringH5930:
And the priestH3548 shall offerH5927 the burnt offeringH5930 and the meat offeringH4503 upon the altarH4196: and the priestH3548 shall make an atonementH3722 for him, and he shall be cleanH2891.
And if he be poorH1800, and cannot getH3027+H5381 so much; then he shall takeH3947 oneH259 lambH3532 for a trespass offeringH817 to be wavedH8573, to make an atonementH3722 for him, and oneH259 tenth dealH6241 of fine flourH5560 mingledH1101 with oilH8081 for a meat offeringH4503, and a logH3849 of oilH8081; {cannot…: Heb. his hand reach not} {to be…: Heb. for a waving}
And twoH8147 turtledovesH8449, or twoH8147 youngH1121 pigeonsH3123, such as he is able to getH3027+H5381; and the oneH259 shall be a sin offeringH2403, and the otherH259 a burnt offeringH5930.
And he shall bringH935 them on the eighthH8066 dayH3117 for his cleansingH2893 unto the priestH3548, unto the doorH6607 of the tabernacleH168 of the congregationH4150, beforeH6440 the LORDH3068.
And the priestH3548 shall takeH3947 the lambH3532 of the trespass offeringH817, and the logH3849 of oilH8081, and the priestH3548 shall waveH5130 them for a wave offeringH8573 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068:
And he shall killH7819 the lambH3532 of the trespass offeringH817, and the priestH3548 shall takeH3947 some of the bloodH1818 of the trespass offeringH817, and putH5414 it upon the tipH8571 of the rightH3233 earH241 of him that is to be cleansedH2891, and upon the thumbH931 of his rightH3233 handH3027, and upon the great toeH931 of his rightH3233 footH7272:
And the priestH3548 shall pourH3332 of the oilH8081 into the palmH3709 of his ownH3548 left handH8042:
And the priestH3548 shall sprinkleH5137 with his rightH3233 fingerH676 some of the oilH8081 that is in his leftH8042 handH3709 sevenH7651 timesH6471 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068:
And the priestH3548 shall putH5414 of the oilH8081 that is in his handH3709 upon the tipH8571 of the rightH3233 earH241 of him that is to be cleansedH2891, and upon the thumbH931 of his rightH3233 handH3027, and upon the great toeH931 of his rightH3233 footH7272, upon the placeH4725 of the bloodH1818 of the trespass offeringH817:
And the restH3498 of the oilH8081 that is in the priest'sH3548 handH3709 he shall putH5414 upon the headH7218 of him that is to be cleansedH2891, to make an atonementH3722 for him beforeH6440 the LORDH3068.
And he shall offerH6213 the oneH259 of the turtledovesH8449, or of the youngH1121 pigeonsH3123, such asH834 he can getH3027+H5381;
Even such as heH3027 is able to getH5381, the oneH259 for a sin offeringH2403, and the otherH259 for a burnt offeringH5930, with the meat offeringH4503: and the priestH3548 shall make an atonementH3722 for him that is to be cleansedH2891 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068.
This is the lawH8451 of him in whom is the plagueH5061 of leprosyH6883, whose handH3027 is not able to getH5381 that which pertaineth to his cleansingH2893.
And the LORDH3068 spakeH1696 unto MosesH4872 and unto AaronH175, sayingH559,
When ye be comeH935 into the landH776 of CanaanH3667, which I giveH5414 to you for a possessionH272, and I putH5414 the plagueH5061 of leprosyH6883 in a houseH1004 of the landH776 of your possessionH272;
And he that owneth the houseH1004 shall comeH935 and tellH5046 the priestH3548, sayingH559, It seemethH7200 to me there is as it were a plagueH5061 in the houseH1004:
Then the priestH3548 shall commandH6680 that they emptyH6437 the houseH1004, before the priestH3548 goH935 into it to seeH7200 the plagueH5061, that all that is in the houseH1004 be not made uncleanH2930: and afterwardH310 the priestH3548 shall goH935 in to seeH7200 the houseH1004: {empty: or, prepare}
And he shall lookH7200 on the plagueH5061, and, behold, if the plagueH5061 be in the wallsH7023 of the houseH1004 with hollow strakesH8258, greenishH3422 or reddishH125, which in sightH4758 are lowerH8217 thanH4480 the wallH7023;
Then the priestH3548 shall goH3318 out of the houseH1004 to the doorH6607 of the houseH1004, and shutH5462 up the houseH1004 sevenH7651 daysH3117:
And the priestH3548 shall come againH7725 the seventhH7637 dayH3117, and shall lookH7200: and, behold, if the plagueH5061 be spreadH6581 in the wallsH7023 of the houseH1004;
Then the priestH3548 shall commandH6680 that they takeH2502 away the stonesH68 in whichH2004 the plagueH5061 is, and they shall castH7993+H853 them into an uncleanH2931 placeH4725 withoutH2351 the cityH5892:
And he shall cause the houseH1004 to be scrapedH7106 withinH1004 round aboutH5439, and they shall pourH8210 out the dustH6083 that they scrapeH7096 off withoutH2351 the cityH5892 into an uncleanH2931 placeH4725:
And they shall takeH3947 otherH312 stonesH68, and putH935 them in the placeH8478 of those stonesH68; and he shall takeH3947 otherH312 morterH6083, and shall plaisterH2902 the houseH1004.
And if the plagueH5061 come againH7725, and breakH6524 out in the houseH1004, afterH310 that he hath takenH2502 away the stonesH68, and afterH310 he hath scrapedH7096 the houseH1004, and afterH310 it is plaisteredH2902;
Then the priestH3548 shall comeH935 and lookH7200, and, behold, if the plagueH5061 be spreadH6581 in the houseH1004, it is a frettingH3992 leprosyH6883 in the houseH1004: it is uncleanH2931.
And he shall break downH5422 the houseH1004, the stonesH68 of it, and the timberH6086 thereof, and all the morterH6083 of the houseH1004; and he shall carry them forthH3318 outH2351 of the cityH5892 into an uncleanH2931 placeH4725.
Moreover he that goethH935 into the houseH1004 all the whileH3117 that it is shutH5462 up shall be uncleanH2930 until the evenH6153.
And he that liethH7901 in the houseH1004 shall washH3526 his clothesH899; and he that eatethH398 in the houseH1004 shall washH3526 his clothesH899.
And if the priestH3548 shall come inH935+H935, and lookH7200 upon it, and, behold, the plagueH5061 hath not spreadH6581 in the houseH1004, afterH310 the houseH1004 was plaisteredH2902: then the priestH3548 shall pronounce the houseH1004 cleanH2891, because the plagueH5061 is healedH7495. {shall come…: Heb. in coming in shall come in, etc}
And he shall takeH3947 to cleanseH2398 the houseH1004 twoH8147 birdsH6833, and cedarH730 woodH6086, and scarletH8144+H8438, and hyssopH231:
And he shall killH7819 the oneH259 of the birdsH6833 in an earthenH2789 vesselH3627 over runningH2416 waterH4325:
And he shall takeH3947 the cedarH730 woodH6086, and the hyssopH231, and the scarletH8144+H8438, and the livingH2416 birdH6833, and dipH2881 them in the bloodH1818 of the slainH7819 birdH6833, and in the runningH2416 waterH4325, and sprinkleH5137 the houseH1004 sevenH7651 timesH6471:
And he shall cleanseH2398 the houseH1004 with the bloodH1818 of the birdH6833, and with the runningH2416 waterH4325, and with the livingH2416 birdH6833, and with the cedarH730 woodH6086, and with the hyssopH231, and with the scarletH8144+H8438:
But he shall let goH7971 the livingH2416 birdH6833 outH2351 of the cityH5892 into the openH6440 fieldsH7704, and make an atonementH3722 for the houseH1004: and it shall be cleanH2891.
This is the lawH8451 for all manner of plagueH5061 of leprosyH6883, and scallH5424,
And for the leprosyH6883 of a garmentH899, and of a houseH1004,
And for a risingH7613, and for a scabH5597, and for a bright spotH934:
To teachH3384 whenH3117 it is uncleanH2931, and whenH3117 it is cleanH2889: this is the lawH8451 of leprosyH6883. {when it is unclean…: Heb. in the day of the unclean, and in the day of the clean}
