American Standard Version of 1901
Versliste
A man that beareth false witness against his neighborIs a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of troubleIs like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
As one that taketh off a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon soda,So is he that singeth songs to a heavy heart.
There is that speaketh rashly like the piercings of a sword; But the tongue of the wise is health.
My soul is among lions;I {Or, must lie}lie among them that are set on fire,Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows,And their tongue a sharp sword.
What shall be given unto thee, and what shall be done more unto thee,Thou deceitful tongue?
{Or, It is as the sharp arrows of the mighty man}Sharp arrows of the mighty,With coals of {Or, broom}juniper.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Therefore will we not fear, though the earth do change,And though the mountains be shaken into the heart of the seas
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him;I will be with him in trouble:I will deliver him, and honor him.
By the rivers of Babylon,There we sat down, yea, we wept,When we remembered Zion.
Upon the willows in the midst thereofWe hanged up our harps.
For there they that led us captive required of us {Hebrew: words of song.}songs,And {Or, our tormentors}they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying,Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep.
