Versliste
For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song.In Judah is God known:His name is great in Israel.
In Salem also is his { Or, covert}tabernacle,And his { Or, lnir}dwelling-place in Zion.
There he brake the {Or, fiery shafts Or, lightnings}arrows of the bow;The shield, and the sword, and the battle. [Selah
Glorious art thou and excellent, {Or, More than}From the mountains of prey.
The stouthearted are made a spoil,They have slept their sleep; And none of the men of might have found their hands.
At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob,Both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep.
Thou, even thou, art to be feared; And who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
Thou didst cause sentence to be heard from heaven; The earth feared, and was still,
When God arose to judgment,To save all the meek of the earth. [Selah
Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee:The residue of wrath shalt thou {Or, restrain}gird upon thee.
Vow, and pay unto Jehovah your God:Let all that are round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
He will cut off the spirit of princes:He is terrible to the kings of the earth.
And now many nations are assembled against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye {Or, gaze upon}see our desire upon Zion.
But they know not the thoughts of Jehovah, neither understand they his counsel; for he hath gathered them as the sheaves to the threshing-floor.
Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion; for I will make thy horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass; and thou shalt beat in pieces many peoples: and I will devote their gain unto {[Chapter 4:14 in Hebrew.]}Jehovah, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.
Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of reeling unto all the peoples round about, and {Or, against}upon Judah also {Or, shall it fall to be}shall it be in the siege against Jerusalem.
Then shall Jehovah go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east; and the mount of Olives shall be cleft in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
