Versliste
Thy shoots are {Or, a paradise}an orchard of pomegranates, with precious fruits;Henna with spikenard plants,
Spikenard and saffron,Calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense;Myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices.
And out of the ground made Jehovah God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow every tree for food, whose leaf shall not wither, neither shall the fruit thereof fail: it shall bring forth {Hebrew: first-fruits.}new fruit every month, because the waters thereof issue out of the sanctuary; and the fruit thereof shall be for food, and the leaf thereof for healing.
And he showed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of {Or, the Lamb. In the midst of the street thereof, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life &c.}the Lamb,
in the midst of the street thereof. And on this side of the river and on that was {Or, a tree}the tree of life, bearing twelve {Or, crops of fruit}manner of fruits, yielding its fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might become rich.
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray and make request for you, that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
to walk worthily of the Lord {Or, unto all pleasing, in every good work, bearing fruit and increasing &c.}unto all pleasing, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing {Or, by}in the knowledge of God;
{Greek: made powerful.}strengthened {Or, in}with all power, according to the might of his glory, unto all {Or, stedfastness}patience and longsuffering with joy;
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
meekness, self-control; against such there is no law.
And upon the skirts of it thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, round about the skirts thereof; and bells of gold between them round about:
a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the skirts of the robe round about.
My beloved is unto me as a cluster of {Hebrew: copher.}henna-flowersIn the vineyards of En-gedi.
While the king sat at his table,My spikenard sent forth its fragrance.
Take thou also unto thee the chief spices: of flowing myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty,
And ye have an anointing from the Holy One, {Some very ancient authorities read and ye all know.}and ye know all things.
And as for you, the anointing which ye received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any one teach you; but as his anointing teacheth you concerning all things, {Or, so it is true and is no lie; and even as &c.}and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, {Or, abide ye}ye abide in him.
It is like the precious oil upon the head,That ran down upon the beard,Even Aaron's beard;That came down upon the {Or, collar}skirt of his garments;
Who is this that cometh up from the wildernessLike pillars of smoke,Perfumed with myrrh and frankincense,With all powders of the merchant?
Until the day be cool, and the shadows flee away,I will get me to the mountain of myrrh,And to the hill of frankincense.
And when any one offereth an oblation of a meal-offering unto Jehovah, his oblation shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon:
and he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests; and he shall take thereout his handful of the fine flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof. And the priest shall burn it as the memorial thereof upon the altar, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor unto Jehovah:
And thou shalt put oil upon it, and lay frankincense thereon: it is a meal-offering.
And the priest shall burn the memorial of it, part of the bruised grain thereof, and part of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof: it is an offering made by fire unto Jehovah.
had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meal-offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the heave-offerings for the priests.
And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places round about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the lowland, and from the hill-country, and from the South, bringing burnt-offerings, and sacrifices, and meal-offerings, and frankincense, and bringing sacrifices of thanksgiving, unto the house of Jehovah.
that there came men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with meal-offerings and frankincense in their hand, to bring them to the house of Jehovah.
Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children;
and walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for {Some ancient authorities read you.}us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweet smell.
While the king sat at his table,My spikenard sent forth its fragrance.
How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob,Thy tabernacles, O Israel!
As valleys are they spread forth,As gardens by the river-side,As lign-aloes which Jehovah hath planted,As cedar-trees beside the waters.
And there came also Nicodemus, he who at the first came to him by night, bringing a {Some ancient authorities read roll.}mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.
All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia;Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made thee glad.
