Versliste
That doeth great things past finding out,Yea, marvellous things without number.
Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not:He passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
Behold, he seizeth the prey, who can {Or, turn him back}hinder him?Who will say unto him, What doest thou?
God will not withdraw his anger; The helpers of {Or, arrogancy See Isaiah 30:7.}Rahab {Or, did}do stoop under him.
How much less shall I answer him,And choose out my words to reason with him?
Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer;I would make supplication to my judge.
If I had called, and he had answered me,Yet would I not believe that he hearkened unto my voice.
{Hebrew: He who.}For he breaketh me with a tempest,And multiplieth my wounds without cause.
He will not suffer me to take my breath,But filleth me with bitterness.
If we speak of strength, {Or, Lo, here am I, saith he: And if of justice, Who &c.}lo, he is mighty! And if of justice, Who, saith he, will summon me?
Though I be righteous, mine own mouth shall condemn me:Though I be perfect, {Or, he}it shall prove me perverse.
{Or, Though I be perfect, I will not regard &c.}I am perfect; I regard not myself;I despise my life.
It is all one; therefore I say,He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
If the scourge slay suddenly,He will mock at the {Or, calamity}trial of the innocent.
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He covereth the faces of the judges thereof:If it be not he, who then is it?
Who doeth great things and unsearchable,Marvellous things without number:
and thou shalt be driven from men; and they dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field; thou shalt be made to eat grass as oxen; and seven times shall pass over thee; until thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
and he said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: Jehovah gave, and Jehovah hath taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovah.
He that believeth on the Son hath eternal life; but he that {Or, believeth not}obeyeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.
He {Or, stilleth}stirreth up the sea with his power,And by his understanding he smiteth through Rahab.
For Egypt helpeth in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I {Or, cried concerning this, They are but arrograncy: be still}called her Rahab that sitteth still.
Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Jehovah; awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Is it not thou that didst cut Rahab in pieces, that didst pierce the monster?
How long wilt thou not look away from me,Nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle?
All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth and to him that sacrificeth not; as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
Now is {Or, a judgement}the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
And the devil said unto him, To thee will I give all this authority, and the glory of them: for it hath been delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
Jesus answered him, Thou wouldest have no {Or, authority}power against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath greater sin.
