Versliste
and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall {Or, lie in wait for}bruise thy head, and thou shalt {Or, lie in wait for}bruise his heel.
{Or, Sporting}Rejoicing in his habitable earth; And my delight was with the sons of men.
For when by reason of the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need again {Or, that one teach you which are the rudiments}that some one teach you the rudiments of the {Greek: beginning.}first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food.
Wherefore leaving {Greek: the word of the beginning of Christ.}the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on unto {Or, full growth}perfection; not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
{Some ancient authorities read, even the teaching of.}of the teaching of {Or, washings}baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
The fear of Jehovah tendeth to life; And he that hath it shall abide satisfied; He shall not be visited with evil.
Her house is the way to Sheol,Going down to the chambers of death.
Grace is deceitful, and beauty is vain; But a woman that feareth Jehovah, she shall be praised.
Now, O Jehovah God, let thy promise unto David my father be established; for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of them that hate thee, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee; neither shall there any after thee have the like.
And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea-shore.
And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east, and all the wisdom of Egypt.
For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all the nations round about.
And he spake three thousand proverbs; and his songs were a thousand and five.
And he spake of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall; he spake also of beasts, and of birds, and of creeping things, and of fishes.
And there came of all peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.
So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.
And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.
And they brought every man his tribute, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
The fear of Jehovah is the {Or, chief part}beginning of knowledge; But the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah,And find the knowledge of God.
The fear of Jehovah is to hate evil:Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way,And the perverse mouth, do I hate.
The fear of Jehovah {Hebrew: addeth.}prolongeth days; But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence; And {Or, the children of him that hath it}his children shall have a place of refuge.
The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life,That one may depart from the snares of death.
Better is little, with the fear of Jehovah,Than great treasure and trouble therewith.
The fear of Jehovah is the instruction of wisdom; And before honor goeth humility.
By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for;And by the fear of Jehovah men depart from evil.
The fear of Jehovah tendeth to life; And he that hath it shall abide satisfied; He shall not be visited with evil.
The reward of humility and the fear of JehovahIs riches, and honor, and life.
Let not thy heart envy sinners; But be thou in the fear of Jehovah all the day long:
Grace is deceitful, and beauty is vain; But a woman that feareth Jehovah, she shall be praised.
