It is actually reported that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not even among the Gentiles, that one of you hath his father's wife.
And {Or, are ye puffed up?}ye are puffed up, and {Or, did ye not rather mourn…you?}did not rather mourn, that he that had done this deed might be taken away from among you.
For I verily, being absent in body but present in spirit, have already as though I were present judged him that hath so wrought this thing,
in the name of our Lord Jesus, ye being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus,
to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord {Some ancient authorities omit Jesus.}Jesus.
Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
Purge out the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, even as ye are unleavened. For our passover also hath been sacrificed, even Christ:
wherefore let us {Greek: keep festival.}keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
I wrote unto you in my epistle to have no company with fornicators;
{Or, not altogether with the fornicators &c.}not at all meaning with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world:
but {Or, now I write}as it is, I wrote unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no, not to eat.
For what have I to do with judging them that are without? Do not ye judge them that are within?
But them that are without God judgeth. Put away the wicked man from among yourselves.
Querverweise zu 1. Korinther 5,5 1Kor 5,5
But them that are without God judgeth. Put away the wicked man from among yourselves.
But {Or, when we are judged of the Lord, we are chastened.}when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye be unreproveable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
And Jehovah said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thy hand; only spare his life.
so that contrariwise ye should {Some ancient authorities omit rather.}rather forgive him and comfort him, lest by any means such a one should be swallowed up with his overmuch sorrow.
being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Set thou a wicked man over him;And let {Or, Satan Or, an accuser}an adversary stand at his right hand.
Brethren, even if a man be overtaken {Or, by}in any trespass, ye who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
(the Lord grant unto him to find mercy of the Lord in that day); and in how many things he ministered at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
Sufficient to such a one is this punishment which was inflicted by {Greek: the more.}the many;
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
looking for and {Or, hastening}earnestly desiring the {Greek: presence.}coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the {Or, heavenly bodies}elements shall melt with fervent heat?
and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience shall be made full.
And if any man obeyeth not our word by this epistle, note that man, that ye have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed.
For this cause I write these things while absent, that I may not when present deal sharply, according to the authority which the Lord gave me for building up, and not for casting down.
And yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
to open their eyes, {Or, to turn them}that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.
My brethren, if any among you err from the truth, and one convert him;
of whom is Hymenæus and Alexander; whom I delivered unto Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme.
{Some ancient authorities read know ye.}let him know, that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.
If any man see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, {Or, he shall ask and shall give him life, even to them &c.}he shall ask, and God will give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is {Or, sin}a sin unto death: not concerning this do I say that he should make request.
{The Greek: text in this passage (And…fire) is somewhat uncertain. Some ancient authorities read And some refute while they dispute with you. Compare 1 Timothy 5:20; Titus 1:9.}And on some have mercy, {Or, while they dispute with you}who are in doubt;
and some save, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
