For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. Maschil of David.
Give ear to my prayer, O God;
And hide not thyself from my supplication.
Attend unto me, and answer me:
I am restless in my complaint, and moan,
Because of the voice of the enemy,
Because of the oppression of the wicked;
For they cast iniquity upon me,
And in anger they persecute me.
My heart is sore pained within me:
And the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me,
And horror hath overwhelmed me.
And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove!
Then would I fly away, and be at rest.
Lo, then would I wander far off,
I would lodge in the wilderness.
[Selah
I would {Or, hasten my escape}haste me to a shelter
From the stormy wind and tempest.
{Hebrew: Swallow up.}Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongue;
For I have seen violence and strife in the city.
Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof:
Iniquity also and mischief are in the midst of it.
Wickedness is in the midst thereof:
{Or, Fraud}Oppression and guile depart not from its streets.
For it was not an enemy that reproached me;
Then I could have borne it:
Neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me;
Then I would have hid myself from him:
But it was thou, a man mine equal,
My companion, and my familiar friend.
We took sweet counsel together;
We walked in the house of God with the throng.
{Or, as otherwise read, Desolations be upon them!}Let death come suddenly upon them,
Let them go down alive into Sheol;
For wickedness is in their dwelling, in the {Or, their inward part}midst of them.
As for me, I will call upon God;
And Jehovah will save me.
Evening, and morning, and at noonday, will I complain, and moan;
And he will hear my voice.
He hath redeemed my soul in peace {Or, so that none came nigh me}from the battle that was against me;
For they were many that strove with me.
God will hear, and {Or, afflict}answer them,
Even he that abideth of old,
[Selah
The men who have no changes,
And who fear not God.
He hath put forth his hands against such as were at peace with him:
He hath profaned his covenant.
His mouth was smooth as butter,
But his heart was war:
His words were softer than oil,
Yet were they drawn swords.
Cast {Or, what he hath given thee}thy burden upon Jehovah, and he will sustain thee:
He will never suffer the righteous to be moved.
But thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction:
Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days;
But I will trust in thee.
Querverweise zu Psalm 55,22 Ps 55,22
Wait for Jehovah:Be strong, and let thy heart take courage;Yea, wait thou for Jehovah.
I have set Jehovah always before me:Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
{Hebrew: Roll thy way upon Jehovah.}Commit thy way unto Jehovah;Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass.
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;For Jehovah {Or, upholdeth his hand}upholdeth him with his hand.
As with {Or, crushing}a sword in my bones, mine adversaries reproach me,While they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
He only is my rock and my salvation:He is my high tower; I shall not be greatly moved.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul?And why art thou disquieted within me?Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him,Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.
He only is my rock and my salvation:He is my high tower; I shall not be moved.
Trust in him at all times, ye people;Pour out your heart before him:God is a refuge for us. [Selah
{Or, Let him not suffer…Let him not slumber that &c.}He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:He that keepeth thee will not slumber.
My soul followeth hard after thee:Thy right hand upholdeth me.
He will keep the feet of his {Or, godly ones Another reading is, holy one.}holy ones;But the wicked shall be put to silence in darkness;For by strength shall no man prevail.
Who is among you that feareth Jehovah, that obeyeth the voice of his servant? {Or, though he walketh}he that walketh in darkness, and hath no light, let him trust in the name of Jehovah, and rely upon his God.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.
{Some ancient authorities read That which my Father hath given unto me}My Father, who hath given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch {Or, aught}them out of the Father's hand.
I and the Father are one.
Therefore I say unto you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment?
who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Be not therefore anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Be not anxious for your {Or, soul}life, what ye shall eat; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.
In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you.
