Vers

1 wird geladen ... Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

2 wird geladen ... And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, but not like his father, and like his mother; for he put away the {Or, obelisk}pillar of Baal that his father had made.

3 wird geladen ... Nevertheless he cleaved unto the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

4 wird geladen ... Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep-master; and he rendered unto the king of Israel {Or, a hundred thousand lambs, and a hundred thousand rams, with the wool}the wool of a hundred thousand lambs, and of a hundred thousand rams.

5 wird geladen ... But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

6 wird geladen ... And king Jehoram went out of Samaria at that time, and mustered all Israel.

7 wird geladen ... And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

8 wird geladen ... And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way of the wilderness of Edom.

9 wird geladen ... So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom; and they made a circuit of seven days' journey: and there was no water for the host, nor for the beasts that followed them.

10 wird geladen ... And the king of Israel said, Alas! for Jehovah hath called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

11 wird geladen ... But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah, that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.

12 wird geladen ... And Jehoshaphat said, The word of Jehovah is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

13 wird geladen ... And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay; for Jehovah hath called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

14 wird geladen ... And Elisha said, As Jehovah of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee.

15 wird geladen ... But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of Jehovah came upon him.

16 wird geladen ... And he said, Thus saith Jehovah, Make this valley full of trenches.

17 wird geladen ... For thus saith Jehovah, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, and ye shall drink, both ye and your cattle and your beasts.

18 wird geladen ... And this is but a light thing in the sight of Jehovah: he will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.

19 wird geladen ... And ye shall smite every fortified city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all fountains of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.

20 wird geladen ... And it came to pass in the morning, about the time of offering the oblation, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

21 wird geladen ... Now when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they {Or, were called together}gathered themselves together, all that were able to {Hebrew: gird themselves with a girdle.}put on armor, and upward, and stood on the border.

22 wird geladen ... And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water over against them as red as blood:

23 wird geladen ... and they said, This is blood; the kings {Or, have surely fought together}are surely destroyed, and they have smitten each man his fellow: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil.

24 wird geladen ... And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they went forward {Hebrew: into it.}into the land smiting the Moabites.

25 wird geladen ... And they beat down the cities; and on every good piece of land they cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the fountains of water, and felled all the good trees, until in Kir-hareseth only they left the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it.

26 wird geladen ... And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew sword, to break through unto the king of Edom; but they could not.

27 wird geladen ... Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt-offering upon the wall. And {Or, there came great wrath upon Israel}there was great wrath against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.

2Sam 24,4 wird geladen ... Notwithstanding, the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.

2Sam 24,5 wird geladen ... And they passed over the Jordan, and encamped in Aroer, on the right side of the city that is in the middle of the valley {Or, toward}of Gad, and unto Jazer:

2Sam 24,6 wird geladen ... then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtim-hodshi; and they came to Dan-jaan, and round about to Sidon,

2Sam 24,7 wird geladen ... and came to the stronghold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites; and they went out to the south of Judah, at Beer-sheba.

2Sam 24,8 wird geladen ... So when they had gone to and fro through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.

2Sam 24,9 wird geladen ... And Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.

2Sam 24,10 wird geladen ... And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto Jehovah, I have sinned greatly in that which I have done: but now, O Jehovah, put away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

2Sam 24,11 wird geladen ... And when David rose up in the morning, the word of Jehovah came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,

2Sam 24,12 wird geladen ... Go and speak unto David, Thus saith Jehovah, I {Or, lay upon}offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thy foes while they pursue thee? or shall there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise thee, and consider what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

2Sam 24,14 wird geladen ... And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of Jehovah; for his mercies are {Or, many}great; and let me not fall into the hand of man.

2Sam 24,15 wird geladen ... So Jehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed; and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men.

2Sam 24,16 wird geladen ... And when the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Jehovah repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough; now stay thy hand. And the angel of Jehovah was by the threshing-floor of {Or, Ornah In 1 Chronicles 21:15, Ornan.}Araunah the Jebusite.

2Sam 24,17 wird geladen ... And David spake unto Jehovah when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.

2Sam 24,18 wird geladen ... And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

2Sam 24,20 wird geladen ... And Araunah looked forth, and saw the king and his servants {Or, passing over}coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

2Sam 24,21 wird geladen ... And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing-floor of thee, to build an altar unto Jehovah, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

2Sam 24,22 wird geladen ... And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, the oxen for the burnt-offering, and the threshing instruments and the yokes of the oxen for the wood:

2Sam 24,23 wird geladen ... {Or, all this did Araunah the king give &c.}all this, O king, doth Araunah give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, Jehovah thy God accept thee.

2Sam 24,24 wird geladen ... And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will verily buy it of thee at a price; neither will I offer burnt-offerings unto Jehovah my God which cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

2Sam 24,25 wird geladen ... And David built there an altar unto Jehovah, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings. So Jehovah was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
