In the thirdH7969 yearH8141 of the reignH4438 of JehoiakimH3079 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 cameH935 NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 unto JerusalemH3389, and besiegedH6696 it.
And the LordH136 gaveH5414 JehoiakimH3079 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 into his handH3027, with partH7117 of the vesselsH3627 of the houseH1004 of GodH430: which he carriedH935 into the landH776 of ShinarH8152 to the houseH1004 of his godH430; and he broughtH935 the vesselsH3627 into the treasureH214 houseH1004 of his godH430.
And the kingH4428 spakeH559 unto AshpenazH828 the masterH7227 of his eunuchsH5631, that he should bringH935 certain of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and of the king'sH4410 seedH2233, and of the princesH6579;
ChildrenH3206 in whom was no blemishH3971+H3971, but wellH2896 favouredH4758, and skilfulH7919 in all wisdomH2451, and cunningH3045 in knowledgeH1847, and understandingH995 scienceH4093, and such as had abilityH3581 in them to standH5975 in the king'sH4428 palaceH1964, and whom they might teachH3925 the learningH5612 and the tongueH3956 of the ChaldeansH3778.
And the kingH4428 appointedH4487 them a dailyH3117+H3117 provisionH1697 of the king'sH4428 meatH6598, and of the wineH3196 which he drankH4960: so nourishingH1431 them threeH7969 yearsH8141, that at the endH7117 thereof they might standH5975 beforeH6440 the kingH4428. {the wine…: Heb. the wine of his drink}
Now among these were of the childrenH1121 of JudahH3063, DanielH1840, HananiahH2608, MishaelH4332, and AzariahH5838:
Unto whom the princeH8269 of the eunuchsH5631 gaveH7760 namesH8034: for he gaveH7760 unto DanielH1840 the name of BelteshazzarH1095; and to HananiahH2608, of ShadrachH7714; and to MishaelH4332, of MeshachH4335; and to AzariahH5838, of AbednegoH5664.
But DanielH1840 purposedH7760 in his heartH3820 that he would not defileH1351 himself with the portionH6598 of the king'sH4428 meatH6598, nor with the wineH3196 which he drankH4960: therefore he requestedH1245 of the princeH8269 of the eunuchsH5631 that he might not defileH1351 himself.
Now GodH430 had broughtH5414 DanielH1840 into favourH2617 and tender loveH7356 withH6440 the princeH8269 of the eunuchsH5631.
And the princeH8269 of the eunuchsH5631 saidH559 unto DanielH1840, I fearH3373 my lordH113 the kingH4428, who hath appointedH4487 your meatH3978 and your drinkH4960: for why should he seeH7200 your facesH6440 worse likingH2196 than the childrenH3206 which are of your sortH1524? then shall ye make me endangerH2325 my headH7218 to the kingH4428. {worse…: Heb. sadder} {sort: or, term, or, continuance?}
Then saidH559 DanielH1840 to MelzarH4453, whom the princeH8269 of the eunuchsH5631 had setH4487 over DanielH1840, HananiahH2608, MishaelH4332, and AzariahH5838, {Melzar: or, the steward}
ProveH5254 thy servantsH5650, I beseech thee, tenH6235 daysH3117; and let them giveH5414 us pulseH2235 to eatH398, and waterH4325 to drinkH8354. {pulse: Heb. of pulse} {to eat…: Heb. that we may eat, etc}
Then let our countenancesH4758 be looked uponH7200 beforeH6440 thee, and the countenanceH4758 of the childrenH3206 that eatH398 of the portionH6598 of the king'sH4428 meatH6598: and as thou seestH7200, dealH6213 with thy servantsH5650.
So he consentedH8085 to them in this matterH1697, and provedH5254 them tenH6235 daysH3117.
And at the endH7117 of tenH6235 daysH3117 their countenancesH4758 appearedH7200 fairerH2896 and fatterH1277 in fleshH1320 than all the childrenH3206 which did eatH398 the portionH6598 of the king'sH4428 meatH6598.
Thus MelzarH4453 took awayH5375 the portion of their meatH6598, and the wineH3196 that they should drinkH4960; and gaveH5414 them pulseH2235.
As for these fourH702 childrenH3206, GodH430 gaveH5414 them knowledgeH4093 and skillH7919 in all learningH5612 and wisdomH2451: and DanielH1840 had understandingH995 in all visionsH2377 and dreamsH2472. {Daniel…: or, he made Daniel understand}
Now at the endH7117 of the daysH3117 that the kingH4428 had saidH559 he should bringH935 them in, then the princeH8269 of the eunuchsH5631 broughtH935 them in beforeH6440 NebuchadnezzarH5019.
And the kingH4428 communedH1696 with them; and among them all was foundH4672 none like DanielH1840, HananiahH2608, MishaelH4332, and AzariahH5838: therefore stoodH5975 they beforeH6440 the kingH4428.
And in all mattersH1697 of wisdomH2451 and understandingH998, that the kingH4428 enquiredH1245 of them, he foundH4672 them ten timesH6235 betterH3027 than all the magiciansH2748 and astrologersH825 that were in all his realmH4438. {wisdom…: Heb. wisdom of understanding}
And DanielH1840 continued even unto the firstH259 yearH8141 of kingH4428 CyrusH3566.

And ye shall serveH5647 the LORDH3068 your GodH430, and he shall blessH1288 thy breadH3899, and thy waterH4325; and I will takeH5493 sicknessH4245 awayH5493 from the midstH7130 of thee.
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearkenH8085 diligentlyH8085 unto the voiceH6963 of the LORDH3068 thy GodH430, to observeH8104 and to doH6213 all his commandmentsH4687 which I commandH6680 thee this dayH3117, that the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 will setH5414 thee on highH5945 above all nationsH1471 of the earthH776:
And all these blessingsH1293 shall comeH935 on thee, and overtakeH5381 thee, if thou shalt hearkenH8085 unto the voiceH6963 of the LORDH3068 thy GodH430.
BlessedH1288 shalt thou be in the cityH5892, and blessedH1288 shalt thou be in the fieldH7704.
BlessedH1288 shall be the fruitH6529 of thy bodyH990, and the fruitH6529 of thy groundH127, and the fruitH6529 of thy cattleH929, the increaseH7698 of thy kineH504, and the flocksH6251 of thy sheepH6629.
BlessedH1288 shall be thy basketH2935 and thy storeH4863. {store: or, dough, or, kneadingtroughs}
BlessedH1288 shalt thou be when thou comest inH935, and blessedH1288 shalt thou be when thou goest outH3318.
The LORDH3068 shall causeH5414 thine enemiesH341 that rise upH6965 against thee to be smittenH5062 before thy faceH6440: they shall come outH3318 against thee oneH259 wayH1870, and fleeH5127 beforeH6440 thee sevenH7651 waysH1870.
The LORDH3068 shall commandH6680 the blessingH1293 upon thee in thy storehousesH618, and in all that thou settestH4916 thine handH3027 unto; and he shall blessH1288 thee in the landH776 which the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 givethH5414 thee. {storehouses: or, barns}
The LORDH3068 shall establishH6965 thee an holyH6918 peopleH5971 unto himself, as he hath swornH7650 unto thee, if thou shalt keepH8104 the commandmentsH4687 of the LORDH3068 thy GodH430, and walkH1980 in his waysH1870.
And all peopleH5971 of the earthH776 shall seeH7200 that thou art calledH7121 by the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068; and they shall be afraidH3372 of thee.
And the LORDH3068 shall make thee plenteousH3498 in goodsH2896, in the fruitH6529 of thy bodyH990, and in the fruitH6529 of thy cattleH929, and in the fruitH6529 of thy groundH127, in the landH127 which the LORDH3068 swareH7650 unto thy fathersH1 to giveH5414 thee. {in goods: or, for good} {body: Heb. belly}
The LORDH3068 shall openH6605 unto thee his goodH2896 treasureH214, the heavenH8064 to giveH5414 the rainH4306 unto thy landH776 in his seasonH6256, and to blessH1288 all the workH4639 of thine handH3027: and thou shalt lendH3867 unto manyH7227 nationsH1471, and thou shalt not borrowH3867.
And the LORDH3068 shall makeH5414 thee the headH7218, and not the tailH2180; and thou shalt be above onlyH4605, and thou shalt not be beneathH4295; if that thou hearkenH8085 unto the commandmentsH4687 of the LORDH3068 thy GodH430, which I commandH6680 thee this dayH3117, to observeH8104 and to doH6213 them:
And thou shalt not go asideH5493 from any of the wordsH1697 which I commandH6680 thee this dayH3117, to the right handH3225, or to the leftH8040, to goH3212 afterH310 otherH312 godsH430 to serveH5647 them.
And there cameH935 a manH376 from BaalshalishaH1190, and broughtH935 the manH376 of GodH430 breadH3899 of the firstfruitsH1061, twentyH6242 loavesH3899 of barleyH8184, and full ears of cornH3759 in the huskH6861 thereof. And he saidH559, GiveH5414 unto the peopleH5971, that they may eatH398. {the husk…: or, his scrip, or, garment}
And his servitorH8334 saidH559, What, should I setH5414 this beforeH6440 an hundredH3967 menH376? He said againH559, GiveH5414 the peopleH5971, that they may eatH398: for thus saithH559 the LORDH3068, They shall eatH398, and shall leaveH3498 thereof.
So he setH5414 it beforeH6440 them, and they did eatH398, and leftH3498 thereof, according to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068.
A littleH4592 that a righteous manH6662 hath is betterH2896 than the richesH1995 of manyH7227 wickedH7563.
Ye have sownH2232 muchH7235, and bringH935 in littleH4592; ye eatH398, but ye have not enoughH7654; ye drinkH8354, but ye are not filled with drinkH7937; ye clotheH3847 you, but there is none warmH2527; and he that earneth wagesH7936 earneth wagesH7936 to put it into a bagH6872 with holesH5344. {with holes: Heb. pierced through}
Ye lookedH6437 for muchH7235, and, lo, it came to littleH4592; and when ye broughtH935 it homeH1004, I did blowH5301 upon it. Why? saithH5002 the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635. BecauseH3282 of mine houseH1004 that is wasteH2720, and ye runH7323 every manH376 unto his own houseH1004. {blow…: or, blow it away}
If ye will not hearH8085, and if ye will not layH7760 it to heartH3820, to giveH5414 gloryH3519 unto my nameH8034, saithH559 the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, I will even sendH7971 a curseH3994 upon you, and I will curseH779 your blessingsH1293: yea, I have cursedH779 them already, because ye do not layH7760 it to heartH3820.

AndG2532 when he had takenG2983 the fiveG4002 loavesG740 andG2532 the twoG1417 fishesG2486, he looked upG308 toG1519 heavenG3772, and blessedG2127, andG2532 brakeG2622 the loavesG740, andG2532 gaveG1325 them to hisG846 disciplesG3101 toG2443 set beforeG3908 themG846; andG2532 the twoG1417 fishesG2486 divided heG3307 among them allG3956.
