When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth;And when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted;But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
He that despiseth his neighbor is void of {Hebrew: heart.}wisdom;But a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
He that goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets;But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth a matter.
Where no wise guidance is, the people falleth;But in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
He that is surety for a stranger {Hebrew: shall be sore broken.}shall smart for it;But he that hateth {Hebrew: those that strike hands.}suretyship is secure.
And Mordecai went forth from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a robe of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan shouted and was glad.
The Jews had light and gladness, and joy and honor.
And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, the Jews had gladness and joy, a feast and a good day. And many from among the peoples of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews was fallen upon them.
