Versliste
Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it,Thou greatly enrichest it;The river of God is full of water:Thou providest them grain, {Or, for so preparest thou}when thou hast so prepared {Hebrew: it.}the earth.
because to you it hath been granted in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer in his behalf:
Wherefore we faint not; but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.
For our light affliction, which is for the moment, worketh for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory;
while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
And we know that to them that love God {Some ancient authorities read God worketh all things with them for good.}all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.
And going on from thence he saw two other brethren, {Or, Jacob}James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
And going on a little further, he saw {Or, Jacob}James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending the nets.
and said unto him, Hearest thou what these are saying? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea: did ye never read, {Psalm 8:2.}Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
What if God, {Or, although willing}willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering vessels of wrath fitted unto destruction:
Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, {Psalm 11:6 ff}Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not,But a body didst thou prepare for me;
By faith we understand that the {Greek: ages. Compare 1 Timothy 1:17 margin}worlds have been framed by the word of God, so that what is seen hath not been made out of things which appear.
The disciple is not above his teacher: but every one when he is perfected shall be as his teacher.
night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face, and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
make you perfect in every good {Many ancient authorities read work.}thing to do his will, working in {Many ancient authorities read you.}us that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be the glory {Greek: unto the ages of the ages.}for ever and ever. Amen.
Now I beseech you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no {Greek: schisms.}divisions among you; but that ye be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Finally, brethren, {Or, rejoice: be perfected}farewell. Be perfected; be comforted; be of the same mind; live in peace: and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
Brethren, even if a man be overtaken {Or, by}in any trespass, ye who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
And it came to pass, when the days {Greek: were being filled.}were well-nigh come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,
And {Or, in all these things}besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they that would pass from hence to you may not be able, and that none may cross over from thence to us.
And having spent some time there, he departed, and went through the region of Galatia, and Phrygia, in order, establishing all the disciples.
{Some ancient authorities omit verse 25-27. Compare the end of chapter 14.}Now to him that is able to establish you according to my {See marginal note on chapter 1:1}gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which hath been kept in silence through times eternal,
For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
and sent Timothy, our brother and {Some ancient authorities read fellow-worker with God.}God's minister in the {Greek: good tidings. See chapter 1:5.}gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith;
comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and guard you from {Or, evil}the evil one.
Be ye also patient; establish your hearts: for the {Greek: presence.}coming of the Lord is at hand.
Wherefore I shall be ready always to put you in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth which is with you.
but I made supplication for thee, that thy faith fail not; and do thou, when once thou hast turned again, establish thy brethren.

he is like a man building a house, who digged and went deep, and laid a foundation upon the rock: and when a flood arose, the stream brake against that house, and could not shake it: {Many ancient authorities read for it had been founded upon the rock: as in Matthew 7:25.}because it had been well builded.
that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
if so be that ye continue in the faith, grounded and stedfast, and not moved away from the hope of the {Greek: good tidings: and so elsewhere; see marginal note on Matthew 4:23.}gospel which ye heard, which was preached in all creation under heaven; whereof I Paul was made a minister.
