Versliste
For thou art my rock and my fortress;Therefore for thy name's sake lead me and guide me.
Pluck me out of the net that they have laid privily for me;For thou art my stronghold.
Into thy hand I commend my spirit:Thou hast redeemed me, O Jehovah, thou God of truth.
I hate them that regard lying vanities;But I trust in Jehovah.
I will be glad and rejoice in thy lovingkindness;For thou hast seen my affliction:Thou hast known {Or, the adversities of my soul}my soul in adversities;
And thou hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy;Thou hast set my feet in a large place.
But in the latter days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of Jehovah's house shall be established {Or, at the head}on the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and peoples shall flow unto it.
And many nations shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths. For out of Zion shall go forth {Or, instruction}the law, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem;
and he will judge {Or, among}between {Or, great}many peoples, and will decide concerning strong nations afar off: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig-tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of Jehovah of hosts hath spoken it.
For all the peoples walk every one in the name of his god; and we will walk in the name of Jehovah our God for ever and ever.
In that day, saith Jehovah, will I assemble that which is lame, and I will gather that which is driven away, and that which I have afflicted;
and I will make that which was lame a remnant, and that which was cast far off a strong nation: and Jehovah will reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth even for ever.
And thou, O tower of {Or, Eder See Genesis 35:21.}the flock, {Hebrew: Ophel.}the hill of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, yea, the former dominion shall come, the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.
Now why dost thou cry out aloud? Is there no king in thee, is thy counsellor perished, that pangs have taken hold of thee as of a woman in travail?
Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail; for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and shalt dwell in the field, and shalt come even unto Babylon: there shalt thou be rescued; there will Jehovah redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.
And now many nations are assembled against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye {Or, gaze upon}see our desire upon Zion.
But they know not the thoughts of Jehovah, neither understand they his counsel; for he hath gathered them as the sheaves to the threshing-floor.
Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion; for I will make thy horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass; and thou shalt beat in pieces many peoples: and I will devote their gain unto {[Chapter 4:14 in Hebrew.]}Jehovah, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.
The Rock, his work is perfect;For all his ways are justice:A God of faithfulness and without iniquity,Just and right is he.
and without faith it is impossible to be well-pleasing unto him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that seek after him.
He restoreth my soul:He guideth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake,That he might make his mighty power to be known.
A Psalm of David.Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;He leadeth me beside {Hebrew: waters of rest.}still waters.
He restoreth my soul:He guideth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of {Or, deep darkness (and so elsewhere)}the shadow of death,I will fear no evil; for thou art with me;Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:Thou hast anointed my head with oil;My cup runneth over.
{Or, Only}Surely goodness and lovingkindness shall follow me all the days of my life;And I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah {Hebrew: for length of days.}for ever.
A Psalm of David.Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator.
{Or, And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said}And Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said this, he gave up the ghost.
Therefore doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
No one {Some ancient authorities read took it away}taketh it away from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have {Or, right}power to lay it down, and I have {Or, right}power to take it again. This commandment received I from my Father.
And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.
But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have made a raid upon the land.
So Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place {That is, The rock of divisions (or, escape).}Sela-hammahlekoth. {[Chapter 24:1 in Hebrew]}
