Versliste
Thou wilt keep them, O Jehovah,Thou wilt preserve them from this generation for ever.
The wicked walk on every side,When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.In Jehovah do I take refuge: How say ye to my soul,Flee {Or, ye birds}as a bird to your mountain;
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.In Jehovah do I take refuge: How say ye to my soul,Flee {Or, ye birds}as a bird to your mountain;
For, lo, the wicked bend the bow,They make ready their arrow upon the string,That they may shoot in darkness at the upright in heart;
{Or, For the foundations are destroyed; What hath the righteous wrought?}If the foundations be destroyed,What can the righteous do?
Jehovah is in his holy temple;Jehovah, his throne is in heaven;His eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
Jehovah trieth the righteous;But the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
Upon the wicked he will rain snares;Fire and brimstone and burning wind shall be the portion of their cup.
For Jehovah is righteous; He loveth {Or, righteous deeds}righteousness: {Or, His countenance doth behold the upright}The upright shall behold his face.
For the Chief Musician; set to {Or, the eighth}the Sheminith. A Psalm of David.Help, Jehovah; for the godly man ceaseth;For {Or, faithfulness failed}the faithful fail from among the children of men.
They speak falsehood every one with his neighbor:With flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak.
Jehovah will cut off all flattering lips,The tongue that speaketh great things;
Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail;Our lips are {Hebrew: with us.}our own: who is lord over us?
Because of the oppression of the poor, because of the sighing of the needy,Now will I arise, saith Jehovah;I will set him in the safety he panteth for.
The words of Jehovah are pure words;As silver tried in a furnace on the earth,Purified seven times.
Thou wilt keep them, O Jehovah,Thou wilt preserve them from this generation for ever.
The wicked walk on every side,When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
And now I commend you to {Some ancient authorities read the Lord.}God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you the inheritance among all them that are sanctified.
There is a generation that curse their father,And bless not their mother.
There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes,And yet are not washed from their filthiness.
There is a generation, oh how lofty are their eyes!And their eyelids are lifted up.
There is a generation whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives,To devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him hither to me.
But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet:
While I was with them, I kept them in thy name which thou hast given me: and I guarded them, and not one of them perished, but the son of perdition; {Psalm 41:9?}that the scripture might be fulfilled.
