Even as it is written {Some ancient authorities read in the prophets..}in Isaiah the prophet, {Malachi 3:1.}Behold, I send my messenger before thy face,Who shall prepare thy way;
{Isaiah 40:3.}The voice of one crying in the wilderness,Make ye ready the way of the Lord,Make his paths straight;
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we beheld, and our hands handled, concerning the {Or, word Compare Acts 5:20}Word of life
But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, for that God chose you {Many ancient authorities read as firstfruits.}from the beginning unto salvation in sanctification of the Spirit and {Or, faith}belief of the truth:
